Study F1J-US-HMFS comprises two identical multicenter, 9-month, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, trials (HMFSa and HMFSb). The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of Duloxetine 60 milligrams (mg) once daily to placebo on depression in patients aged 18-65. Data from the two trials will be reported in both individual and pooled analyses. Pooling the two studies will allow for increased power to detect differences between duloxetine and placebo on secondary and exploratory objectives. Only one data lock is planned for this study, when all patients have completed all study procedures.

tDCS applies a small amount of direct electric current (DC) to the brain by means of two electrodes: the one is an active electrode, localized on the effective site, and the other is a reference electrode, localized on some "silent" part of the body. Anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) has been associated with working memory enhancement and improvement of mood. This study will investigate the possible antidepressant effects of tDCS in patients with therapy resistant major depressive episodes.

Women undergoing IVF show a high prevalence of depressive and anxiety symptoms. Furthermore, stress has harmful consequences on IVF and pregnancy outcomes. An immunological cascade was suggested to be involved in the process. Treatment in this setting is usually psychotherapy rather than pharmacotherapy, despite reasonable biological evidence suggesting beneficial influence of antidepressant therapy on pregnancy and well-being. Moreover, pharmacotherapy is more available and affordable than psychotherapy in the public health system. The investigators suggest to study the efficacy of antidepressant treatment in women undergoing IVF treatment, presenting with mild mood symptoms. The investigators hypothesize that treatment will result in a greater attenuation of affective symptoms, as well as in higher pregnancy success rates. Furthermore, certain immunological stress-reactive factors, may prove to be the biological mechanism underlying these effects.

Introduction and Purpose: Most of the guidelines for the treatment of major depression recommend the use of antidepressants for 4 to 8 weeks. On the other hand, it has been recently reported that they start to show their antidepressant efficacy within a couple of weeks (1,2), contrary to the conventional theory. In addition, a good response (i.e. a 20% reduction in the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale \[MADRS\]) at week 2 is proposed to be a predictor of subsequent remission at week 6 (3,4), while nonresponse at week 2 could predict unfavourable outcome at week 8 (5). Furthermore, early worsening is suggested to be related to a low rate of remission at weeks 8 and 12(6).

STAR\*D focuses on non-psychotic major depressive disorder in adults who are seen in outpatient settings. The primary purpose of this research study is to determine which treatments work best if the first treatment with medication does not produce an acceptable response. Participants will first receive citalopram, an SSRI medication; if symptoms remain after 8-12 weeks of treatment, up to four other levels of treatment will be offered, including cognitive therapy and other medications. There are no placebo treatments. Some patients may require a combination of two or more treatments to obtain full benefit. Participation could last from 15 to 27 months and involve up to 30 clinic visits. Participants will be interviewed by telephone throughout the study about their symptoms, daily functioning, treatment side effects, use of the health care system, and satisfaction with treatment. There will be a one-year follow up for participants once their depression has been successfully treated

The goal of this pilot study is to learn about how well older people with serious mental illness (including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression) follow prescribed medication regimens, and to evaluate a manualized intervention designed to enhance medication management skills and adherence, the Using Medications Effectively program. The following four hypotheses will be tested: 1. Medication adherence will be associated with several variables including insight, memory, medication management skill, knowledge about medications, attitudes about medications. 2. People who receive the program will have better medication adherence compared to those who do not receive the program as measured by pill counts. 3. People who receive the program will develop better medication management skills compared to those who do not receive the program.

Method: Subjects performed tonal audiometry, Pitch Matching (PM) and Minimum Masking Level (MML) for tinnitus. They also fulfilled the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Data was statistically compared for correlation between audiometric thresholds, psycho-acoustic measures and questionnaires.
