Study TRX109011/TRX109013, A Randomized, Double-blind, Double-dummy, Placebo-controlled, Crossover Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of TREXIMET® (Sumatriptan + Naproxen Sodium) versus Butalbital-containing Combination Medications (BCM) for the Acute Treatment of Migraine when administered during the Moderate-Severe Pain Phase of the Migraine (Studies 1 and 2 of 2)
NCT00410579
RATIONALE: Learning about quality of life, symptoms, and health behaviors in colorectal cancer survivors may help to determine the long-term effects of colon and rectal cancer treatments and may help to improve the quality of life for future cancer survivors. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is looking at patient-reported outcomes in long-term survivors of colon and rectal cancers.
NCT00788944
This is a study to determine the percentage of patients with depression who are treated with extended-release venlafaxine HCl (U.S. marketed brand Effexor XR®) who are Poor Metabolizers (based on the levels of the drug in the blood) at 2D6 (a system in the liver that breaks down some medications and other chemicals).
NCT00449527
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate whether subjects respond similarly to the Onset of Effect Questionnaire (OEQ) using a 1 week recall period versus a 1 day recall period.
NCT00035932
The purpose of this study is to learn how well atazanavir (ATV) works in combination with ritonavir (RTV) or saquinavir (SQV) with tenofovir (TDF) and a nucleoside to reduce the viral load of treatment experienced subjects with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). There is a comparison arm with lopinavir (LPV)/RTV and TDF and a nucleoside.
NCT00401323
The purpose of the study is to compare time to progression and overall survival after treatment with Taxotere plus cisplatin versus cisplatin plus 5-FU (PF treatment group) in the first line treatment of patients with recurrent and/or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
NCT00130403
To determine how prior therapy with alendronate or risedronate in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis influences the clinical effectiveness of teriparatide; The primary objective of the study is to compare the teriparatide (human, recombinant PTH\[1-34\])-associated change from baseline in a marker of bone formation, N-terminal propeptide of type I collagen (P1NP), between subjects previously treated with risedronate and those previously treated with alendronate.
NCT00326586
This is a Phase I Dose-Escalation Study of BMS641988 in Patients with Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer.
NCT00076232
Genital herpes (HSV-2) is the most common cause of genital sores worldwide, and the presence of genital sores is a significant risk factor for becoming infected with HIV. This study will test the effectiveness of twice-daily dosing of acyclovir, a commonly prescribed anti-herpes drug, in preventing HIV infection in HSV-2 infected women who sleep with men (WSM) and men who sleep with men (MSM). Study hypothesis: Given that genital herpes is a significant risk factor to HIV acquisition, twice-daily HSV-2 suppressive therapy - 400 mg of acyclovir - will prevent HIV infection among high risk, HSV-2 seropositive WSM and MSM.
NCT00433810
The goal of the LABS-1 study is to assess the short-term safety of bariatric surgery.
NCT00547482
The main purpose of this research study is to investigate whether the TANTALUS II System is effective in improving glycemic (blood sugar) control in subjects who have type 2 diabetes (high blood sugar) and are overweight. The research will also evaluate the impact on weight loss and will study other health conditions related to obesity. This research study involves an experimental system. The experimental system is the TANTALUS System, which consists of the implantable portion that includes the implantable pulse generator (IPG) and three pairs of implantable leads. There are also three external parts (items that are used outside your body): the programmer, the charger, and the Patient Wand.
NCT00857454
Testosterone replacement treatment is the most effective way of treating hypogonadism in men. Acrux has a propriety testosterone replacement product, Testosterone MD-Lotion and this study will assess the occurrence of skin safety events for a further two months of continuous use of the Testosterone MD-Lotion® (cutaneous solution) after completion of the MTE08 (NCT00702650) trial.
NCT00812058
The purpose of this study is to test a new drug, RG2417, to see how the drug affects symptoms of bipolar I depression and to make sure it is safe in humans.
NCT00283088
The purpose of this trial is to evaluate if it is safe to use tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) within 6 hours of stroke onset when combined with hypothermia.
NCT00386425
In this trial, patients with severe sepsis and low protein C levels will receive drotrecogin alfa (activated) at the normal, approved dose and time of administration \[24 microgram/kilogram/hour (mcg/kg/hour) for 96 hours\] or will receive the normal, approved dose or higher doses than the approved dose for a longer administration time. After the drug administration is complete, the protein C levels from the patients receiving the normal, approved dose will be compared to protein C levels from patients receiving the normal, approved dose or higher dose for a longer duration to determine if the protein C levels improve faster if given higher dose and/or longer administration time. Note: The protocol was amended to remove the option of shorter infusion durations.
NCT00116753
The rationale of the study was to evaluate different degarelix dosing regimens for a three-month interval that was to produce and maintain castration in prostate cancer patients through immediate and prolonged testosterone suppression, and to provide confirmatory evidence of the safety of degarelix.
NCT00251992
The aim is to evaluate if the resolution of upper abdominal symptoms (pain or burning) during an acid suppressive test trial of esomprazole given daily for 7 days predicts symptoms resolution at the end of a subsequent treatment period of 7 weeks.
NCT00241540
This study is a randomised, double-blind, parallel-group and placebo controlled study comparing the efficacy of esomeprazole 40 mg orally qd vs. placebo and esomeprazole 20 mg orally qd vs. placebo when given to patients on continuous use of NSAIDs, including COX-2 selective NSAIDs, for a period of 4 weeks in treatment of relief of upper GI symptoms.
NCT00882024
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether tranilast at two different dosages compared to placebo is effective in patients with active RA when added to continuing methotrexate (MTX) therapy.
NCT00673205
The purpose of this trial is to study the effect of adjuvant or immediate hormonal therapy, versus placebo, in subjects who have either undergone a primary therapy (principally radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy) or who were otherwise to be managed by watchful waiting.
