NCT01222715
This randomized phase II trial studies how well vinorelbine tartrate and cyclophosphamide work in combination with bevacizumab or temsirolimus in treating patients with recurrent or refractory rhabdomyosarcoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vinorelbine tartrate and cyclophosphamide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of rhabdomyosarcoma by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Temsirolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective when given together with bevacizumab or temsirolimus in treating rhabdomyosarcoma.
NCT01122901
This phase II trial is studying how well gamma-secretase/Notch signalling pathway inhibitor RO4929097 works in treating patients with recurrent or progressive glioblastoma. Gamma-secretase/Notch signalling pathway inhibitor RO4929097 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
NCT00530816
To evaluate the best overall response rate, safety and tolerability of carfilzomib in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
NCT00094172
Patients who have been diagnosed with clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) often develop problems related to the central nervous system, which controls the nerves in the body. Some of these patients may later be diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), a progressive disease of the nervous system. The purpose of this study is to determine if the drug atorvastatin is helpful to CIS patients. Study hypothesis: Early intervention with atorvastatin in patients with CIS will result in a state of immunological tolerance.
NCT01393626
This study investigates safety and efficacy of CP-690,550 in adult patients with moderate to severe Crohn's disease. The study hypothesis is that at least one dose of the tested drug is more effective than placebo (inactive drug).
NCT00434213
This is a study designed to characterize the dermal response of DAYTRANA. Subjects will visit the study site over a period of approximately 14 weeks.
NCT00995501
Evidence thus suggests that steroid administration, tight glucose control, and avoidance of deep anesthesia may decrease perioperative morbidity by reducing the inflammatory response to surgery. Using a three-way factorial approach, the investigators thus propose to test the primary hypotheses that major perioperative morbidity is reduced by: 1) low-dose dexamethasone; 2) intensive perioperative glucose control; and 3) lighter anesthesia. Secondary hypotheses include that each intervention reduces circulating concentrations of the inflammatory marker CRP, and that there is a correlation between C-reactive protein (CRP) and post-operative complications. Anesthetic sensitivity predicts major and minor complications, and delirium Other secondary hypotheses are that each intervention, reduces minor surgical complications, reduces postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), reduces postoperative delirium, speeds hospital discharge, improves quality of life (SF-12v2 Health Survey, Christensen's VAS fatigue score), and reduces all-cause one-year mortality.
NCT00829829
The purpose of this clinical research study was to determine the safety and effectiveness of an experimental drug called rilonacept in subjects with gout who are beginning allopurinol treatment for gout. Subjects will participate in this study for approximately 22 weeks. Rilonacept is being studied for use in preventing allopurinol-induced gout flares.
NCT01928771
The purpose of this study is to determine whether Benralizumab reduces the number of asthma exacerbations in patients who remain uncontrolled on high doses of ICS-LABA.
NCT01949532
The purpose of this study is to see how the body and the cancer react to carfilzomib, including measuring the amount of the study drug in the blood at certain times following dosing. This study is being done in people with normal kidney function and those with end-stage renal disease to see if they respond differently to the study drug.
NCT01232491
This trial is conducted in Europe, and North and South America. The aim of this trial is to investigate if a dietary intervention has an effect on weight when initiating insulin treatment in subjects with type 2 diabetes currently treated with oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs).
NCT01571934
Hemophilia A is a genetic deficiency of factor VIII that causes blood to clot too slowly. The disease is classified based on how much factor VIII is in the blood. People with mild or moderate hemophilia A have low, but detectable, blood levels of factor VIII and bleed with trauma or surgery. At the time of surgery, they need to receive factor VIII replacement by infusion into the vein so that blood can clot normally and abnormal bleeding can be avoided. A complication of hemophilia A is the development of an antibody that binds factor VIII and makes the factor VIII infused for treatment not work properly. This antibody is called an inhibitor. In mild and moderate hemophilia A, inhibitors are not common, but have been reported to occur after intensive factor VIII infusions, as may occur at the time of surgery. This study is designed to observe people with mild and moderate hemophilia A who are having surgery. Information on the surgery, treatments given, bleeding, and infection will be gathered. Also, blood will be drawn to determine how the immune system is reacting to the factor VIII. No specific treatments will be given as part of this study. We will use the information to determine what influences inhibitor development. A better understanding of inhibitor development will help medical providers do things to avoid inhibitor development in this population or researchers to design new treatments.
NCT01644331
The primary objective of this study is to compare the effects of oral Tolvaptan vs. placebo as an adjunct to fixed dose IV furosemide on dyspnea relief in patients with acute decompensated heart failure The primary hypothesis is that the addition of oral Tolvaptan to fixed dose furosemide will be more effective at relieving dyspnea than fixed dose furosemide alone
NCT03129295
A study of the efficacy and safety of MPC-SHRC for the relief of symptoms associated with uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
NCT01308463
The Discovery™ Elbow Multi-Center Prospective Study (5-year Study) patients will be consented at the two year or next scheduled follow-up period for the early-enrolled patients.
NCT00378950
Heart failure (HF) affects 5 million people in the United States. Health literacy, which is the ability to read and comprehend important medical information, plays an important role in the health of individuals with HF. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program developed for various levels of health literacy at improving medical outcomes and quality of life in individuals with HF.
NCT01635712
Hsp90 is a chemical in the body that is involved int he promotion of cancer. SNX-5422 is an experimental drug that blocks Hsp90.
