NCT00002819
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy alone is more effective than chemotherapy plus peripheral stem cell transplantation for ovarian epithelial cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin with that of carboplatin, mitoxantrone, and cyclophosphamide followed by peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have persistent stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer.
NCT00054405
Phase I trial to compare the effectiveness of interleukin-12 with or without interleukin-2 in treating young patients who have refractory or recurrent neuroblastoma. Biological therapies use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining interleukin-2 with interleukin-12 may kill more tumor cells.
NCT00973817
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of the use of ELAD in patients with diagnosed Acute On Chronic Hepatitis, including Acute Alcoholic Hepatitis.
NCT00771667
A medical research study in adult patients who have moderate to severe Crohn's disease designed to determine whether or not treatment with an experimental drug called ustekinumab (or CNTO1275) is safe or not and to determine if the treatment will reduce the symptoms of Crohn's disease.
NCT00627640
Parkinson's Disease is a major neurodegenerative disorder in which there is a progressive loss of dopamine-containing neurons. The understanding that PD is a syndrome of dopamine (DA) deficiency led to the introduction in the clinical practice of L-dopa, a precursor of DA that crosses the blood brain barrier, and also to the use of selective inhibitors of MAO-B, the major DA metabolising enzyme in man. Safinamide is an inhibitor of MAO-B. This is a phase III trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of safinamide (50 and 100 mg p.o. q.a.m.) compared to placebo as add-on therapy to a stable dose to levodopa in subjects with advance idiopathic Parkinson's Disease. The principal efficacy measure is the increase in mean daily "on" time during the 18-hr diary recording period.
NCT00016029
RATIONALE: Screening tests may help doctors detect cancer cells early and plan more effective treatment for cancer. New diagnostic procedures such as computed tomographic colonography may provide a less invasive method of identifying patients who have colon cancer. PURPOSE: Diagnostic and screening trial to compare the effectiveness of barium enema, computed tomographic colonography, and colonoscopy in detecting of colon cancer.
NCT00198510
The purpose of this study is to determine if intravitreal injection of Vitrase (ovine hyaluronidase) clears vitreous hemorrhage
NCT00097578
This is an observational study designed to follow patients with metastatic or locally advanced and unresectable colorectal cancer who are receiving Avastin in combination with chemotherapy and whose cancer has been either previously untreated or treated \<=4 months prior to enrollment.
NCT00205777
The purpose of this study is to determine whether bazedoxifene acetate is safe and effective in the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
NCT00006708
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without rituximab for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy with or without rituximab in treating patients who have relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
NCT00993850
The study aims to evaluate a psychological intervention for individuals who suffer from sleep disturbance and bipolar disorder. We are hoping that this treatment will: (1) improve the quality of life of individuals with bipolar disorder who are suffering from sleep disturbance and (2) reduce the risk of, or help prevent, episodes.
NCT01257477
An observational study to evaluate LOTRONEX® in women with severe IBS-D in the current clinical practice setting.
NCT00688584
The major objective of this proposal is to conduct a randomized controlled trial of an ultra-brief, personalized feedback intervention (a pamphlet) for problem drinkers. Subjects will be recruited via a telephone survey which will collect baseline data. The households of half of the subjects will receive the pamphlet as unaddressed ad mail shortly thereafter. Follow-up interviews will be conducted, by telephone, three and six months after the mailing of the pamphlets. Hypothesis 1: Respondents from households who receive the pamphlet will display significantly improved drinking outcomes at the three-month and six-month follow-ups as compared to respondents from households in the no intervention control condition. Hypothesis 2: More calls will be received on a help-line listed on the pamphlet (and advertised elsewhere) from residents of households who receive the pamphlet as compared to residents from households who do not receive the pamphlet. Hypotheses 3 - 6 deal with mediator and moderator hypotheses, exploring the role of perceived risk, perceived drinking norms, and drinking for social reasons.
NCT01416454
The purpose of the study is to assess potential age-related differences on coagulation profile of patients undergoing Cesarean Section, using thromboelastography (TEG). The investigators will compare coagulation data collected from the study to assess potential differences in coagulation parameters for the following age groups: (i) women less than 35 yrs (ii) women 35 yrs or older.
NCT00909545
The primary purpose of this study is to establish a dosage of isradipine CR that is tolerable and demonstrates preliminary efficacy for utilization in future pivotal efficacy studies.
NCT01424956
To determine the impact on Interpreting Physician performance in detecting breast cancer, as defined by the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC), when Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) and screening mammography (XRM) are combined, compared to screening mammography alone in asymptomatic women with \>50% parenchymal density and a screening mammogram assigned a BI-RADS Assessment Category 1 (negative) or 2 (normal with benign findings). The effect of the improved Reader performance is illustrated by plotting the ROC curves for XRM alone and XRM+ABUS. If Reader performance improves with the addition of ABUS to the XRM, the area under the curve (AUC) for XRM+ABUS (AUCXRM+ABUS) will be greater than the area under the curve for XRM Alone (AUCXRM Alone). This difference is represented as ∆AUCABUS. The null and alternative hypotheses can be formally expressed as follows: H0: ∆AUCABUS = 0, AUCXRM+ABUS = AUCXRM Alone The null hypothesis is that Reader performance will be unchanged with the addition of ABUS to a screening mammogram assigned a BI-RADS Assessment Category of 1 or 2. HA: ∆AUCABUS ≠ 0, AUCXRM+ABUS ≠ AUCXRM Alone The alternative hypothesis is that Reader performance will be changed with the addition of ABUS to a screening mammogram assigned a BI-RADS Assessment Category of 1 or 2. A statistically significant change will be considered equivalent to a statistically significant improvement if the estimated value of AUCXRM+ABUS is greater than that of AUCXRM Alone with statistical significance at an alpha level of .05 for a two-sided test.
NCT00003316
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of gemcitabine in treating patients with recurrent or refractory cancer of the uterus.
NCT00059306
The goal of this study is to learn if combination antiplatelet therapy (aspirin and clopidogrel) is more effective than aspirin alone for the prevention of recurrent stroke and cognitive decline, and if intensive blood pressure control is associated with fewer recurrent strokes and cognitive decline. On July 21, 2011 the DSMB recommended terminating the anti platelet arm of the study due to an imbalance of overall and major non-CNS hemorrhagic SAE's and total deaths in the investigational anti platelet combination of aspirin + clopidogrel and an interim statistical analysis that demonstrated futility in the investigational anti platelet arm. It was recommended that patients be continued on standard care of aspirin mono therapy until their study close-out visit. Also, recommended the continuation and completion of the plood pressure arm following the protocol.
NCT00935649
