NCT00792103
The primary objective is to evaluate the safety of long-term treatment with NP101 as assessed by: * Subject self-examination skin irritation scores * Adverse events * Changes in vital signs and ECG parameters The secondary objective is to evaluate the long term efficacy of NP101 as assessed by: * Headache pain free at two hours after patch activation for all initial acute migraine attacks treated with NP101 * Headache pain relief at two hours after patch activation for all initial acute migraine attacks treated with NP101 * Nausea free at two hours after patch activation for all initial acute migraine attacks treated with NP101 * Phonophobia free at two hours after patch activation for all initial acute migraine attacks treated with NP101 * Photophobia free at two hours after patch activation for all initial acute migraine attacks treated with NP101 * Migraine free at two hours after patch activation for all initial acute migraine attacks treated with NP101 This study will use an open-label design to assess the long term safety of NP101 (sumatriptan iontophoretic transdermal patch). Subjects who continue to be in good health (use of a triptan or use of an NP101 patch is not contraindicated) and received treatment (patch activation) with the study patch for a qualifying migraine under study NP101-007 will be considered eligible for enrollment into the open-label study. Subjects will be expected to remain in the study for up to 12 months.
NCT01190839
REMICADE (infliximab) is a drug used to treat active Crohn's disease and is being tested in an experiment to see if it may be useful in preventing relapse of Crohn's disease after surgical resection. This study will compare the effects (both good and bad) of REMICADE (infliximab) to those of placebo. Placebo looks like the drug being studied but has no active ingredients.
NCT01992939
This is the second part of a research study in order to determine if using a specialized pulse oximetry probe with external heat pack will help obtain oxygen saturation (SaO2) and heart rate (HR) during monitoring for patients with peripheral vascular disease (PVD), vasoconstriction, and hypothermic extremities. The inability to obtain accurate SaO2 and pulse readings can lead to misdiagnosis, incorrect treatment, or procedures to be canceled. SaO2 and pulse readings are important to maintain patient stability during diagnostic testing, surgical procedures and monitoring while in critical care areas. Changes in SaO2 and pulse are important to monitor in order to be able to compensate for any decrease in patient oxygen saturations during hemodynamic monitoring. The primary aim of this study is to determine if using a specialized pulse oximetry probe with external heat pack will improve oxygenation readings in order to obtain SaO2 and pulse readings in patients with PVD, vasoconstriction, and hypothermic extremities as compared to readings obtained from an arterial blood gas. The hypothesis is using a specialized pulse oximetry probe with external heat pack will help obtain more accurate pulse oximetry readings consistent with values obtained with an arterial blood gas.
NCT00714168
The number of overweight and obese adults in the United States is increasing at a rapid rate. A "stepped-care" weight loss program, which at key times increases the frequency of contact between an individual trying to lose weight and the program staff, may be beneficial for achieving long-term weight loss. This study will compare a standard behavioral weight loss program with a "stepped-care" weight loss program in their abilities to help people who are overweight or obese to lose weight.
NCT01114737
This double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study is designed to evaluate the safety and therapeutic effects of sapropterin dihydrochloride on neuropsychiatric symptoms in subjects with PKU.
NCT00940277
The goal of the proposed study is to evaluate the efficacy of 2 couple-focused interventions developed to reduce the psychological distress on women and their partners during and after the breast cancer experience. The first group, an Enhanced Couple-Focused Group (ECG), incorporates cognitive-behavioral interventions (e.g., relaxation, stress management skills) as well as basic relationship communication and support skills (e.g., expressing support needs constructively). The second group, a Couples' Support Group (SG), is a non-structured group where general topics are discussed. The investigators will evaluate the impact of each group condition on patients' psychological adaptation, social and role functioning, and cancer treatment adherence. The investigators will also evaluate whether patient and partner perceptions of relationship support, relationship intimacy, stress management skills, and intervention group support mediate the groups' effects on each other's psychological adaptation. The investigators hypothesize that ECG will have stronger positive effects on patient general and cancer-related distress and well-being than SG. The investigators hypothesize that group support will mediate greater improvements in patient psychological functioning in both groups but that the effects of group support will be significantly stronger in SG than ECG.
NCT01954160
Congestive heart failure is a common disorder in which the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the needs of the rest of the body. Poor sodium handling by the kidneys is a damaging effect of heart failure, and it leads to symptoms of congestion such as shortness of breath or ankle swelling. Recent studies suggest that reducing the nerve activity to a kidney could reduce sodium retention and blood pressure. An improvement in the way the kidneys handle sodium may reduce disease progression and decrease symptoms for heart failure patients.
NCT00932646
The study is intended to characterize the lung function profile of BI1744 in COPD patients where patients will perform pulmonary function tests at regular intervals for 24 hours at the end of a 6 week treatment period. Each patient will receive all four treatments.
NCT00006264
RATIONALE: Antiviral drugs such as zidovudine and ganciclovir act against viruses and may be an effective treatment for HIV. Interleukin-2 may stimulate a person's white blood cells to kill lymphoma cells. Combining these treatments may be effective in treating AIDS-related primary central nervous system lymphoma. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining zidovudine, ganciclovir, and interleukin-2 in treating patients who have AIDS-related primary central nervous system lymphoma.
NCT01176045
The primary objective of this study is to determine how pre \& post-operative tear osmolarity levels relate to rates of dry eye symptoms related to refractive surgery and if differences exist in patients who are pre-treated with ocular lubricants vs. those treated only post-operatively.
NCT00048074
This study will assess the efficacy and safety of intravenous administration of Bonviva regimens in women with post-menopausal osteoporosis, compared to oral daily administration. Patients will also receive daily supplementation with vitamin D and calcium. The anticipated time of study treatment is 2+ years, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.

NCT01278615
This phase II clinical trial is studying how well selumetinib works in treating patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Selumetinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
NCT01609062
The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the safety of a 2.0 mg/kg/week and a 4.0 mg/kg/week of BMN 110 in patients with Morquio A syndrome for up to 196 weeks. Secondary objectives were to investigate the effect of the two doses on exercise capacity for up to 196 weeks. In addition, the pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters of both doses of BMN 110 was assessed.
NCT01121939
The purpose of this Phase II trial will be to define the activity of a VEGF inhibitor bevacizumab, HER1/HER2 inhibitor pertuzumab, and sandostatin for patients with advanced neuroendocrine cancers. In particular, the efficacy of bevacizumab and pertuzumab treatment is of great interest. The primary endpoint of this trial will be response rate. Toxicity and progression-free survival will be obtained and evaluated.
NCT02411305
Few formal mechanisms for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on quality in palliative care exist. Such infrastructure is needed to understand current clinical practices, inform quality improvement projects, and research which links adherence to specific quality measures and improved patient-centered outcomes. This infrastructure, if proven feasible, can then become integrated into usual palliative care delivery across the PCRC. Then, palliative care can conduct the same types of collaborative quality improvement activities, based on data collected at point of care, as other medical disciplines like general surgery and cardiology.
NCT00734747
The study is designed to test the safety and efficacy of the Medigus SRS endoscopic stapling system for the treatment of GERD. The system allows the operator to staple the stomach to the esophagus,in order to restore the gastroesophageal flap valve. The effect of the stapling is similar to a common operation for GERD (partial fundoplication) but is done through the mouth, and incision into the abdomen is not needed. The hypothesis of the study is that the treatment will be effective in improving GERD related quality of life by 50% or more in the majority of the subjects, and that the procedure will be as safe as surgery.
