NCT00877006
The primary objective of the study is to compare the complete response (CR) rate of bendamustine and rituximab (BR) with that of standard treatment regimens of either rituximab, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CVP) or rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) in patients with advanced, indolent non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) or mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
NCT00408525
The purpose of the study is to examine patterns of brain activity in people who are at risk for memory problems (e.g., Alzheimer's disease or dementia)before and after the medication donepezil. Although genetic testing will be done, the results will not be shared with study participants. Once the genetic testing is completed subjects may continue to the second phase of the study. During this time they will be asked to take the medication donepezil (which is approved by the FDA for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease). Donepezil is not FDA approved for healthy volunteers and is therefore considered investigational in this study.
NCT02949388

NCT02491073
The purpose of this research study is to determine if the blood tests used to measure free thyroid hormone levels are affected by a drug called eslicarbazepine acetate. To determine if eslicarbazepine acetate interferes with these blood tests, blood samples will be analysed so that researchers can compare different types of lab tests that measure these thyroid hormones. Half of the people who participate in this study will already be taking eslicarbazepine acetate either as a study drug or as a prescription (Part 1) and the other half will be people who do not take eslicarbazepine acetate (Part 2).
NCT03423836
The principal objective was to conduct a 5 year; multi-center, observational follow-up study enrolling infants born to mothers who participated in the MOTOR clinical trial to determine the effects of maternal periodontal therapy during pregnancy on neonatal morbidity and mortality and whether this will result in lower incidence of functional neurological impairment.
NCT02136914
This is a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 2-arm, parallel group study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ADS-5102 extended release (ER) capsules, an investigational formulation of amantadine, dosed once nightly at bedtime for the treatment of levodopa induced dyskinesia (LID) in subjects with Parkinson's disease (PD). The novel pharmacokinetic profile of ADS-5102 is expected to achieve i) maximal concentrations in the early morning through mid-day, when LID can be troublesome, and ii) lower concentrations in the evening, potentially reducing the negative impact of amantadine on sleep. This pharmacokinetic profile could enable higher doses to be tolerated with a once-nightly ER formulation than can be tolerated with an immediate-release formulation. The once-nightly dosing regimen may also provide enhanced convenience and compliance. In a previous clinical study, ADS-5102 met its primary endpoint; LID was significantly reduced as measured by the change in UDysRS score over 8 weeks vs. placebo.
NCT01301456
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of PF-04856883 (CVX-096) in adult female subjects with Type 2 diabetes mellitus on high dose of metformin.
NCT01165138
The purpose of the study is to compare the efficacy and safety of fluticasone furoate/vilanterol (GW642444) inhalation powder and fluticasone furoate inhalation powder both administered once daily in adolescent and adult subjects 12 years of age and older with persistent bronchial asthma over a 12 week treatment period.
NCT01788631
This research study is a Phase II clinical trial, which tests the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug called Regadenoson (or Lexiscan) to learn whether the drug works in treating a specific disease, in this case Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). "Investigational" means that the drug is being studied. It also means that the FDA has not yet approved the drug for your type of disease. SCD is an inherited blood disorder that causes the red blood cells to change their shape from a round shape to a half-moon/crescent or sickled shape. People who have SCD have a different type of protein that carries oxygen in their blood (hemoglobin) than people without SCD. This different type of hemoglobin makes the red blood cells change into crescent shape under certain conditions. Sickle-shaped cells are a problem because they often get stuck in the blood vessels blocking the flow of blood, and cause inflammation and injury to important areas in the body. Regadenoson (trade name Lexiscan) is a drug that may prevent this inflammation and injury caused by the sickle shaped cells. This drug is approved by the FDA to be used as a fast infusion during a heart stress test in people who are unable to exercise enough to put stress on their heart by making the heart beat faster. Regadenoson has been studied as a long infusion at this dose in adults, and no safety issues have been identified (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01085201). This is the first study to look at patient benefit with the long infusion of the drug. This drug has been used in laboratory experiments and information from those other research studies suggests that this drug may help to protect the body from damage caused by sickle-shaped cells in this research study. In this research study, the investigators are specifically looking to see if Regadenoson is an effective treatment for pain crises and acute chest syndrome in SCD.
NCT01063829
The aim of the study is to find out whether AIC246 is safe and efficacious in lowering the chances of the cytomegalovirus becoming active again and causing illness after an HBPC transplant (allogeneic stem cell transplant).
NCT00116844

NCT02757508
This study is to gather information on school feeding programs and to measure the effect on linear growth and cognitive performance when providing a high-quality milk protein source or a combination of a high-quality milk protein source and rice proteins as a nutritional supplement to school children in Ghana. Children will receive a meal with a protein powder supplement with vitamins and minerals mixed into it. Participation is expected to last for 9 months. 1200 Children aged 6-7 years attending school will be enrolled throughout twenty primary schools (60 per school). Participants will be randomized to one of four groups: Control: Vitamins/minerals-200 mg premix contain the required micronutrients as per UNICEF recommendations. For groups 1-3 the same vitamin/mineral mix will be used along with Group 1. Vitamins/minerals + Milk Protein (8.75 g)-the milk protein is a skim milk powder with the sugar lactose. Group 2. Vitamins/minerals + Milk/plant Protein (8.75g)-the milk protein is a skim milk protein powder and the plant protein is a rice protein concentrate and the sugar lactose. Group 3. Vitamins/minerals + Milk Protein (4.38g)-the milk protein is a skim milk protein powder with the sugar lactose. At baseline measurements-weight,height,mid-upper arm circumference, and body composition will be taken, fasting blood spot test will be administered to measure levels of Insulin and insulin like growth factor and other metabolic test, and computer based cognitive testing. Demographic information will be collected along with a dietary survey. Primary outcomes are cognitive performance on standardized tests and change in height-for-age z-score over the supplementation period, 9 months total. Questionnaires will be administered to collect demographic data and dietary information. At the mid-point all measurements will be taken again and cognitive testing will be repeated. At the end of the study all measurements will be taken again, cognitive testing repeated, blood spot samples taken again, and a short survey will be administered about the protein powders.
NCT00068250
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy such as methotrexate and temozolomide use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage cancer cells. Combining methotrexate, temozolomide, and rituximab with radiation therapy may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of temozolomide when given together with methotrexate and rituximab followed by radiation therapy and to see how well they work in treating patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma.
NCT01702285
The main purpose of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of orally administered CUDC-101 in cancer patients, and to determine a dose for further testing. This study will also determine how well CUDC-101 is absorbed into the blood after being given orally, assess CUDC-101 blood levels and what happens to the study drug in the body, and study how the body reacts to the study drug and what effects it has on tumors. CUDC-101 has been administered to cancer patients as an intravenous (IV) infusion in other research studies, but has not been studied when given orally.
NCT00139620
This is a multicenter, open-label, 2-arm study comparing erlotinib exposure in cancer patients with adequate hepatic function versus cancer patients with moderate hepatic impairment. All patients will receive a single 150 mg dose of erlotinib on Day 1 followed by 96 hours of plasma sampling for PK and protein binding studies. Patients may then enter the maintenance phase of the study and continue to receive erlotinib until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
NCT01767623
This open-label, Phase I study will evaluate the impact of severe hepatic impairment on the pharmacokinetics and safety of vemurafenib in participants with BRAF V600 mutation positive cancer. Participants will receive vemurafenib 960 milligrams (mg) (normal hepatic function) or 720 mg (severe hepatic impairment) orally twice daily (BID) on Days 1 to 20 (morning dose) and from Day 27 onward until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs.
