The primary objective of this study is to compare the duration of survival between patients receiving docetaxel in combination with the GVAX® vaccine for prostate cancer versus patients receiving docetaxel and prednisone treatment in patients with prostate cancer who no longer respond to hormone therapy, who have documented metastases with pain. Patients may have had up to one prior non-taxane chemotherapy treatment.

The purpose of this study is to see if adding 1 drug to an anti-HIV drug combination early in treatment against HIV can lower the viral load (amount of HIV in the blood) to a level so low that it cannot be measured (undetectable). The drug that will be added to a treatment is abacavir (ABC). Many patients who take 3 anti-HIV drugs together are able to achieve very low viral loads, for example, viral loads below 50 copies/ml. However, some patients taking only 3 drugs are not able to achieve a viral load this low. Doctors hope that, by adding the drug ABC to a current treatment, a viral load below 50 copies/ml can be achieved. Doctors would like to find out if it is effective to start patients on 3 drugs and then add another drug (treatment intensification) if the treatment is not working as well as hoped.

The purpose of this study is to determine the best way to treat people on d4T (stavudine) with high levels of lactic acid. Switching from d4T to abacavir will be assessed. Adding riboflavin and thiamine will also be assessed. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of four groups: * Group 1 participants will continue to take d4T as part of their antiretroviral (ARV) regimen, and will be given the vitamin supplements * Group 2 will continue to take d4T without vitamin supplements * Group 3 will switch from d4T to abacavir and receive the vitamins * Group 4 will switch from d4T to abacavir without vitamin supplements. The study plans to involve eighty participants from Canada and Argentina for a treatment period of 16 weeks and a follow-up visit at week 24.

The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the long-term survival rate of individual implants and prostheses when treating edentulous upper jaws of poor bone quality with Fixture MicroThread™ (Micro-Macro). Clinical study recruitment was stopped in year 2000 due to a decision to modify the product under study. This was a result of feedback regarding the subjective feeling during the installation procedure. There were no safety concerns w/r to the study products. Patients already included and treated in the study were monitored for the full duration of the study in accordance with the clinical study protocol.
