NCT00559871
The purpose of this study is to determine whether Fipamezole is effective in the treatment of levodopa-induced dyskinesia in advanced Parkinson's disease.
NCT00276172
The primary objective of this study is to determine the safety and the immunogenicity of extended treatment with natalizumab when administered at a dose of 300 mg intravenously (IV) to subjects with multiple sclerosis (MS) who have completed natalizumab Studies C-1801, C-1802, or C-1803.
NCT00056225
The purpose of this study is to determine whether reduction of homocysteine levels with high-dose folate (folic acid), B6, and B12 supplementation will slow the rate of cognitive decline in persons with Alzheimer's disease.
NCT00735865
To determine if the types and amount of bacteria or other germs change over time after the routine procedure of blockage of tear drainage duct in the treatment of dry eye condition or other condition benefiting from a tear drainage blockage
NCT00553904
A pilot study of 15 subjects will be completed to determine whether acute consumption of cranberry juice has an effect on endothelial function. We will then complete a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled crossover study designed to investigate the effects of cranberry juice consumption on endothelial function. Participants (n=40) will drink 480 ml of double strength cranberry juice or a similar appearing and tasting placebo per day for four weeks. After a two week rest period, they will cross over to the other beverage. We will examine endothelial function before and after each of the two treatment periods. The study will provide information about the chronic vascular effects of cranberry juice.
NCT00501241
The purpose of this study is to determine whether ATI-7505 is effective in the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation.
NCT00916682
This study seeks to provide point-of-care clinical diagnostic systems for the diagnosis of current disease status using saliva as a sample specimen.
NCT00914108
The purpose of the study is to learn more about the development of small for gestational age (SGA) preterm infants and whether focusing on the infant's behavior has a positive effect on outcome. The study hypotheses state: 1) High risk severely SGA preterm infants will profit from detailed neuropsychological assessment, psychoeducational recommendations and practical guidance for caregiving, as well as formal educational and emotional support for the family and the professional care team. 2) Neuropsychological education and guidance for community-based early intervention providers caring for SGA preterm infants after their discharge is effective in promoting improved outcome.
NCT00033202
Gimatecan® is sigma-tau Research's new, potent, oral Topoisomerase I inhibitor. Drugs in this class play a crucial role in destroying DNA replication in tumors. We are conducting this study to determine the Maximum Tolerated Dose of our compound, when given as a capsule, rather than by intravenous injection.
NCT00830661
Anal fistulae are a difficult problem to treat. The optimal treatment for fistula involving the anal sphincter is unclear. Two standardly used methods of treatment are the ligation of intersphincteric fistula track (LIFT) procedure and the use of an anal fistula plug. The purpose of this study is to exam the rate of fistula closure between the LIFT procedure and the use of a fistula plug
NCT00320736
This study is a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of the nicotinic receptor agonist, galantamine, for the improvement of memory and attention in people with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Twenty subjects on a stable dose of antipsychotic medications receive galantamine or identical placebo tablets for 8 weeks. Adverse events are screened for every week. Tests of memory, attention, and reward responsivity are performed at baseline and afer 8 weeks on medication. Clinical scales rating psychiatric symptoms are performed at the beginning, middle, and end of the trial.
NCT00032903
Gimatecan® is Sigma-Tau Research's new, potent, oral Topoisomerase I inhibitor. Drugs in this class play a crucial role in destroying DNA replication in tumors. We are conducting this study to determine the Maximum Tolerated Dose of our compound. In addition, we plan to assess the drug's ability to affect the evolution of malignant gliomas, when given as a capsule, rather than by intravenous injection.
NCT00403286
The purpose of the study is to determine the appropriate dose of fluticasone propionate/formoterol fumarate that is closest to Advair Diskus (fluticasone propionate/salmeterol xinafoate using pulmonary function, safety, and levels of study drug in blood plasma in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
NCT00251095
The purpose of this study is to compare the objective response rates of patients randomized to receive either TOCOSOL(R) Paclitaxel or Taxol(R) (paclitaxel injection) administered every week to patients with metastatic breast cancer. The study hypothesis is that the objective response rate with TOCOSOL Paclitaxel given every week is non-inferior to that observed with Taxol given every week.
NCT00596908
This study is designed to obtain an imaging training set that will be used to evaluate images in future trials. Currently, no radiopharmaceutical diagnostic imaging agent has been approved by the FDA in the U.S. for use in diagnosing Parkinson disease and related Parkinsonian syndromes. The diagnosis of Parkinsonian syndromes in the U.S. is based on clinical criteria only. The goal is to demonstrate that 123I-ALTROPANE® paired with SPECT imaging permits a more accurate early diagnosis of Parkinson disease than a clinical diagnosis by a general neurologist.
NCT00630370
To assess the efficacy of 3 oral dosing regimens of ATI 7505 compared to placebo in patients with PDS by comparing at the end of Day 42 the percentage of patients in each treatment group who have had adequate relief of postprandial distress syndrome symptoms on at least 50% of the treatment days.
NCT00630175
The primary objective is to evaluate the hypnotic efficacy of zolpidem-MR (modified release) 12.5 mg and zolpidem 10 mg marketed product in comparison with placebo in patients with primary insomnia and sleep maintenance difficulties, using polysomnography (PSG) recordings and patient sleep questionnaires. The secondary objective is to evaluate the clinical safety and tolerability of zolpidem-MR 12.5 mg and zolpidem 10 mg marketed product in comparison with placebo.
NCT00063570
The purpose of the study is to determine if the two drugs can help patients feel better while causing the tumor to become smaller or disappear; evaluate the safety of giving both pemetrexed and gemcitabine in patients with advanced breast cancer.
NCT00672893
Vibration response imaging (VRI) technology, provides a radiation-free dynamic image of the lung, by visualizing vibration energy emitted during the respiration cycle (lung sounds). Airflow in the lungs during the respiration cycle creates vibrations that propagate through the lung tissue; these vibrations are affected by the structural properties of the lungs and may vary in space, time and frequency. Moreover, any structural alteration, such as a bronchial obstruction or space occupying infiltration, is reflected in a corresponding modification of the vibration response. As obstructions that occur in airways alter airflow, the VRI may provide additional lung function information prior to treatment for airway obstruction and during follow-up. Moreover, the VRI may provide the physician immediate evaluation of the improvement of air flow distribution, quantitative and qualitative measurements. Furthermore, the VRI is a non-invasive, radiation free procedure which is simple and doesn't require the level of patient effort required for lung function test and other evaluation.
NCT00359112
This study compares the effects of Avandamet (rosiglitazone maleate/metformin) treatment and metformin plus sulphonylurea treatment in overweight people with type 2 diabetes.
