The purpose of this study is to determine the long term safety and tolerability of azilsartan medoxomil, once daily (QD), in participants with Essential Hypertension.
NCT00002646
RATIONALE: Estrogen can stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using tamoxifen may fight breast cancer by blocking the uptake of estrogen. Combining chemotherapy with hormone therapy may kill more tumor cells. Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development or recurrence of cancer. The use of fenretinide may be an effective way to prevent the recurrence of breast cancer. It is not yet known whether tamoxifen plus fenretinide is more effective than tamoxifen alone for breast cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of tamoxifen plus fenretinide with tamoxifen alone in treating postmenopausal women who have stage II or stage III breast cancer that is estrogen receptor positive and/or progesterone receptor positive.
NCT00107419
RATIONALE: Pemetrexed disodium may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well pemetrexed disodium works in treating patients with recurrent and unresectable or metastatic chondrosarcoma.
NCT00151749
The purpose of the study is to see how safe and effective and tolerable the use of WelChol® is for type 2 diabetes when added to insulin alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic drugs
NCT00883090
Congenital deficiency of Factor XIII is an extremely rare hereditary disorder associated with potentially life-threatening bleeding. This study will evaluate the safety and recommended (best) amount or level of Factor XIII in a patient's blood. Factor XIII Concentrate (Human) is given to people whose blood is lacking Factor XIII. Factor XIII Concentrate (Human) works by assisting your blood in the usual clotting process, thereby preventing bleeding.
NCT00002860
RATIONALE: Surgery may be effective therapy in treating patients with metastatic melanoma. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well surgery works in treating patients with metastatic melanoma.
NCT00048230
This study will compare the efficacy of PS-341 versus high dose dexamethasone.
NCT01474057
This study will compare a cognitive-behavioral online self-management intervention designed for primary care treatment of war-related PTSD to a control intervention, "optimized usual primary care PTSD treatment". Patients with PTSD will be trained to use the online PTSD treatment website and asked to do so three times per week for six weeks. They will have phone and email access to a nurse trained to assist them in their treatment program. Three scheduled phone check-ins during the six week treatment period will provide ongoing contact with patients during treatment. The investigators will assess PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety and somatic symptoms, physical health status and occupational functioning on three occasions: before the intervention, at the end of the treatment period, and six weeks after the end of treatment.
NCT00492388
To assess the safety and efficacy of PMI-150 (Intranasal Ketamine) as an analgesic for the treatment of breakthrough pain in cancer patients.
NCT01105988
A standard treatment for glioblastoma is a combination of radiation and the drug temozolomide. This combination sometimes causing swelling (inflammation) of the brain tissue. When standard monitoring with MRI or CT scans is done within a few months of finishing treatment, it may be hard to tell if the scans are showing post-treatment brain inflammation or tumor growth and worsening of disease. Currently the only way to definitively distinguish inflammation from tumor growth is biopsy. However, biopsy is an invasive procedure that is associated with risks. Having a non-invasive method to distinguish post-treatment inflammation from tumor growth can help improve care for patients with glioma. For the PET scans in this research study, the investigators are using a radioactive substance called FLT (3'-deoxy-3'-\[F-18\] fluorothymidine), instead of the standard substance FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose). FLT gets absorbed by cancer cells but not by areas of inflammation. Because of that FLT may be better than FDG in differentiating cancer cells from inflammation. An MRI scan will also be done at the same time as each of the 2 FLT-PET scans done for this research study. The two MRI scans performed will also help give more information about the patient's tumor that is not routinely provided with a routine clinical scan, such as blood flow through the tumor or metabolic activity in the tumor. The information from these special MRI scans may provide more information about the blood supply to the tumor and how this changes in response to treatment. In addition, the MRI scans along with the FLT-PET scans may help how to distinguish inflammation due to radiation therapy from tumor growth.
NCT00428012
The purpose of this study is to determine whether psychological intervention is effective in improving quality of life, mood, and relationships among adults with end-stage renal disease who are awaiting kidney transplantation.
NCT00528047
The purpose of this study is to test the safety of PRLX 93936 and see what kind of effect it has on patients and their cancer. This study will also determine the highest dose of PRLX 93936 that can be given without causing adverse side effects and the dose of PRLX 93936 that should be used in future studies.
NCT01230164
An aberrometer measures visual aberrations by mapping how light rays travel through the eye and by providing maps using colored gradients to represent the magnitude of refractive errors of the eye. The purpose of this study is to compare 4 different aberrometers -Wavescan (Visx Technology), Zywave (Bausch \& Lomb), Ladarwave aberrometer (Alcon Inc.) and Allegro Analyzer (Alcon Inc). In particular, the investigators propose to focus on the ability of these devices to display the higher order visual aberrations and to compare the quality of outputs from these 4 devices in normal healthy subjects.
NCT00106223
In an earlier phase of this study, a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) manual to treat body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) symptoms was developed. We are currently implementing this manual-based treatment to validate its effectiveness in patients with BDD.
NCT01057147
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of 2% rebamipide compared to placebo in clearing of fluorescein staining of the central cornea in subjects with dry eye disease.
NCT00067314
This international study will study how metastatic breast cancer responds to the investigational drug treatment, what are the side effects of the investigational drug when given to women with metastatic breast cancer and how often do these side effects occur. The study will also analyze how fast investigational drug and its breakdown products are cleared from the blood in these patients.
NCT01000805
The purpose of this study is to find out if 60 mg of duloxetine given once a day by mouth for 8 weeks to patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder, who also report associated painful physical symptoms, is better than placebo when treating depression and its associated painful symptoms.

Key objectives of the study are to: * Determine how well intramuscular (IM) olanzapine depot works during long-term treatment, * Evaluate the safety and tolerability of IM olanzapine depot during long-term treatment, * Determine the blood levels of IM olanzapine depot in patients during long-term treatment
NCT00528411
The purpose of this study is to see how Ticagrelor, a new oral reversible anti-platelet medication, affects platelets. Anti-platelet agents are medications that block the formation of blood clots by preventing the clumping of platelets. Blood clots prevent us from bleeding, but when they form inside the arteries their formation is linked to a risk of medical problems such as heart attack and stroke. This study investigated how long it takes for Ticagrelor to begin working and how long it takes for it to stop working after the last dose of drug. Ticagrelor will be compared to clopidogrel, an established anti-platelet treatment for preventing blood clots, and placebo plus Aspirin.
