NCT01077362
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy (improvement of signs and symptoms) and safety of ustekinumab in patients with psoriatic arthritis.
NCT01085201
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder that causes the red blood cells to change their shape from a round shape to a half-moon/crescent or sickled shape. People who have SCD have a different type of protein that carries oxygen in their blood (hemoglobin) then people without SCD. This different type of hemoglobin makes the red blood cells change into a crescent shape under certain conditions. Sickle-shaped cells are a problem because they often get stuck in blood vessels blocking the flow of blood, and cause inflammation and injury to the important areas in the body. Lexiscan is drug that may prevent this inflammation and injury caused by the sickle shaped cells. This drug is approved by the FDA to be used as a fast infusion during a heart stress test in people who are unable to exercise enough to put stress on their heart by making it beat faster. Lexiscan has never been studied in patients with SCD and has never been given as a long infusion.
NCT00434473
The study will be conducted at 15-20 US centers in a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind fashion. Enrollees will be hospitalized sickle cell disease (SCD) patients at-risk for acute chest syndrome (ACS) based on the presence of vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC), fever (T ≥38.0°C) and serum sPLA2 concentration ≥50 ng/mL.
NCT00004010
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more cancer cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage cancer cells. Giving radiation therapy after chemotherapy may be an effective treatment for Hodgkin's disease. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating children who have previously untreated stage II, stage III, or stage IV Hodgkin's disease.
NCT00810329
The purpose of this study is: 1. To identify specific set of proteins in the cerebrospinal fluid (fluid surrounding the brain and the spinal cord), that are believed to be seen in Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) patients, but not in healthy controls (HC). A similar study that the investigators had conducted before, suggested that significant changes in proteins in the cerebrospinal fluid may be due to the fundamental pathology of this disorder. 2. Increased cerebrospinal fluid pressure (pressure that helps the cerebrospinal fluid to move around the brain and the spinal cord), may be related with certain symptoms like headache, sleep problems, light headedness, increased pain, excessive tiredness (fatigue) even with minimal work and memory problems. 3. Assessment of Autonomic Nervous system function (Sympathetic nervous system)between the CFS and HC. 4. Perform Lung Function Testing or pulmonary function test to estimate the lung capacities and score shortness of breath while performing breathing maneuvers. 5. Dolorimetry (18 tender point test) for assessment of pain threshold. 6. Capsaicin skin test 7. Allergy skin test
NCT01967004
The purpose of this study is to determine if Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) can lead to greater prosthesis function and control. Subjects are asked to perform specific tasks and actions using the traditional control method, as well as RFID control.
NCT01162681
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of three different doses of A-623 administered in addition to standard therapy in subjects with active SLE disease
NCT01604356
Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) patients are interested in trying alternative therapies to attempt to slow, halt or reverse the retinal disease process, and claim success with some approaches such as acupuncture, but this potential treatment has not been put to the test of objective, rigorous scientific study conducted in western society. In this pilot study, the investigators aim to evaluate an acupuncture treatment tailored to the RP population for its feasibility to improve visual function, specifically visual field and dark adaptation. The study results may provide a basis for eye care providers' recommendations to RP patients regarding whether to consider acupuncture as a potential treatment modality. If our hypotheses regarding improvements in vision beyond typical test variability are supported, our future research goals include the conduct of a larger clinical trial with involving randomization and a placebo control for acupuncture in RP.
NCT00849472
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the treatment of a doxorubicin in combination with cyclophosphamide followed by a combination of pazopanib in combination with paclitaxel prior to surgery results in a pathological complete response in females with breast cancer.
NCT00244140
This is a research study involving the use of a contrast agent called Ultravist Injection. Ultravist, the study drug, is used to improve the pictures obtained using computed tomography (CT). Ultravist acts like a dye to make CT pictures brighter and easier to read. In the case of this study, it will be injected into a vein in the patient's arm; from there, it travels through the blood stream and to the areas to be examined. CT scans will then be taken of the patient's head and/or body as ordered by his/her physician. Phase IIIb Study to Document the Safety and Efficacy of Ultravist 370 mg I/ml, When Administered Intravenously, in Volumes up to 162.2 ml, for Clinically Indicated Contrast Enhanced Computed Tomography (CECT) of the Head and/or Body
NCT00440193
This is a multicenter, randomized, open-label, assessor-blind, event-driven, non-inferiority program for efficacy with a study treatment duration of 3, 6 or 12 months in patients with confirmed acute symptomatic DVT without symptomatic PE (Einstein-DVT).
NCT00357136

NCT00522834
"Elesclomol (STA-4783), N-malonyl-bis (N'-methyl-N'-thiobenzoylhydrazide) is a new chemical entity with a novel structure. STA-4783 induces an oxidative stress response in cells. This response is characterized by increased production of gene families that protect against different cellular stresses, including excessive heat, the presence of reactive oxygen species such as oxygen radicals, or the presence of heavy metals. Subjects will participate in up to 2 weeks of screening during which time they will complete all screening procedures. Eligible subjects who have not received any prior cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agent for melanoma will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either STA-4783 213 mg/m2 in combination with paclitaxel 80 mg/m2 or paclitaxel 80 mg/m2 alone. One treatment cycle will consist of weekly treatments for 3 weeks, followed by a 1-week rest period. Cycles will be repeated every 4 weeks until disease progression. Tumor assessments will be performed every 8 weeks from the date of randomization or sooner if the Investigator suspects progression has occurred based on clinical signs and symptoms. "
