NCT00330369
This is a research study of a new experimental drug called darusentan. Darusentan is not currently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the United States, which means that a doctor cannot prescribe this drug. The purpose of this study is to determine if darusentan is effective in reducing systolic blood pressure in subjects with resistant systolic hypertension, despite treatment with full doses of three or more antihypertensive drugs, including a diuretic.
NCT01108263
* After determining if subjects meet the criteria to be included in the study they will be randomly placed in either Group 1 or 2 and patient will be blinded from randomization group. * Subjects will walk across a pressure plate to determine different areas of high pressure under the foot. This will be done before the INTEGRA application and at every other follow-up visit. * Both groups will be debrided and have pictures taken in the OR * Group 1 will have Integra Flowable Wound Matrix applied onto the wound in the OR and Group 2 will have the Integra Flowable Wound Matrix applied onto the wound and injected subcutaneously in the OR. * Subjects will be placed in a total contact cast at each visit. If wound healing occurs prior to 12 weeks, a final assessment visit will be done and the status of the healed ulcer will be assessed.
NCT00260806
This study will use the NIH-sponsored Women and Infants Transmission Study (WITS) and the Pediatric Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Complications of Vertically Transmitted HIV Infection (P2C2) HIV-infected pediatric cohorts to determine how left ventricular (LV) function (particularly fractional shortening and contractility) and structure (particularly wall thickness and mass) are affected by cumulative intensity of exposure to highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART).
NCT00144300
To determine if there is any difference in the presence of retinal deterioration in PD patients treated with pramipexole IR versus ropinirole as monitored by comprehensive ophthalmologic assessments from baseline to the end of study at two years.
NCT00870220
This is a multicenter, randomized, controlled, semi-blinded study to compare two low doses of estradiol administered by recently available transdermal patches for the initiation of puberty in Turner syndrome girls 11.5-13.0 years old in conjunction with growth hormone (GH) therapy. The specific hypotheses to be tested are: when combined with growth hormone (GH) treatment, low dose transdermal estradiol (LTE2) replacement will be more effective in stimulating feminization, height velocity, and bone mineral density without compromising growth potential than very low dose transdermal estradiol (VLTE2), which will in turn be superior to GH alone in effects on feminization, height velocity, and bone mineral density.
NCT01059565
The purpose of this research study was to determine if an experimental drug called Aztreonam for Inhalation Solution (AZLI) was safe and effective to treat Burkholderia lung infections in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). Spirometry was used to assess pulmonary function, and the revised Cystic Fibrosis Questionnaire (CFQ-R) was used to assess quality of life. The CFQ-R is a validated, patient-reported outcome tool used to measure health-related quality of life for children and adults with CF. The study consisted of a 24-week randomized phase, and a 24-week open-label phase. Primary and secondary efficacy analyses were conducted for the 24-week randomized phase only. Safety data were collected for both the randomized and open-label phases.
NCT00322491
This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of plerixafor given in addition to granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) for collection of peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs) for autologous transplantation in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and multiple myeloma (MM). Efficacy outcomes include evaluation of fold increase in circulating CD34+ cells from just before the first plerixafor injection to 10-11 hours post plerixafor (just before apheresis) and assessment of successful polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) engraftment after transplantation. Data from this protocol will assist in the determination of the dosing schedule for future studies.
NCT00103662
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the combination of AMD3100 (plerixafor) and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF, generic name of filgrastim) is better than G-CSF alone to mobilize and collect the optimal number of stem cells in multiple myeloma patients for autologous transplantation.
NCT00455429
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of four dose regimens (pattern of giving treatment) of JNJ-26113100 in the treatment of adult Atopic Dermatitis (\[AD\]; skin rash, inflammation) that is moderate in severity.
NCT01626235
Study aims to assess patient-recorded outcomes of pain control medications prescribed in the ER after visits for specific painful injuries/illnesses.
NCT00268957
Approximately 207 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on hemodialysis will be entered into this study at approximately 26 centers in the United States. This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of sevelamer carbonate powder dosed once-a-day (QD) with the largest meal compared to sevelamer hydrochloride tablets dosed three-times-per-day (TID) with meals. The total length of participation is approximately 24 weeks.
NCT01185288
This study will investigate the efficacy of both low and high doses of methotrexate (MTX) in combination with open-label adalimumab (ADA) in patients who have had an inadequate response to high dose of MTX. The study will also evaluate the pharmacokinetics and safety of the two regimens of MTX in combination with ADA in participants with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
NCT00389779
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo- and active-controlled study of a new experimental drug called darusentan. Darusentan is not currently approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which means that a doctor cannot prescribe this drug. The purpose of this study is to determine if darusentan is effective in reducing systolic and diastolic hypertension despite treatment with full doses of three or more antihypertensive drugs, including a diuretic. Subjects will be randomized to darusentan (optimized dose), an active comparator, or placebo, administered orally. The treatment period for this trial is 14 weeks.
NCT00253682
This study will determine the impact of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) on the developing cardiovascular system, the evolution of HAART-associated cardiovascular changes over time, and the association between cardiovascular measurements with HAART exposure.
NCT00507689
The objective of this 96-week study was to evaluate the safety and antiviral efficacy of emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (FTC/TDF, coformulated; Truvada®) with or without hepatitis B immunoglobulin (HBIg) in preventing the recurrence of chronic hepatitis B following liver transplantation, in participants who were chronically infected with hepatitis B prior to transplantation. Prior to enrollment, participants were required to have received at least 12 weeks of HBIg therapy following liver transplantation. Enrolled participants then received FTC/TDF plus HBIg for an initial 24-week pre-randomization treatment period. Participants who completed the pre-randomization period and who achieved sustained viral suppression were randomized to continue treatment with FTC/TDF with or without HBIg for an additional 72 weeks (randomized period). The antiviral efficacy of treatment was assessed by measuring hepatitis B virus levels in the blood (HBV DNA). Safety and tolerability was monitored by assessing adverse events and various laboratory parameters.
