NCT01459913
The purpose of this study is to evaluate if a 12-week total regimen of telaprevir in combination with pegylated interferon alfa 2a (Peg-IFN-alfa-2a) and ribavirin (RBV) (T12/PR12) is safe and effective in subjects who have the interleukin-28B (IL28B) CC genotype. The subjects enrolled in this study will have chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and will not have cirrhosis of the liver.
NCT01204788
Patients with leukemia often have low white blood cell counts after chemotherapy, which puts them at greater risk for infection. The standard of care for preventing infections is to give these patients antibiotic, antifungal, and antiviral drugs during the time that white blood cell counts are low. However, many patients still develop infections during chemotherapy. Radiated white blood cell transfusions are a standard treatment once a patient develops a severe infection. The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if giving unirradiated white blood cell transfusions early in chemotherapy might delay or prevent infections in patients with leukemia. Researchers also want to learn more about the type and severity of any infections that do occur.
NCT00991341
The RECESS study will compare the effects of transfusing red blood cell units stored \<= 10 days vs. red blood cell units stored \>= 21 days, in patients who are undergoing complex cardiac surgery and are likely to need a red blood cell transfusion. The primary hypothesis is that there is a clinically important difference between the effects of shorter-storage red cell units and longer-storage red cell units on clinical outcomes and mortality risk.
NCT00005774
Mechanical ventilation (MV) of preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is associated with lung injury and nosocomial infection. Moderately premature infants with mild respiratory distress do not routinely receive artificial surfactant early in their course of treatment. This multi-center, randomized trial tested whether early surfactant therapy and nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in infants 1,250-2,000g with RDS reduced mechanical ventilation usage without added complications. Infants with mild to moderate respiratory distress syndrome were enrolled in the trial and given either early administration of surfactant followed by extubation within 30 minutes and the use of CPAP, or standard practice (surfactant according to current center practice, only after initiation of mechanical ventilation), to see whether the experimental method would reduce the need for subsequent mechanical ventilation.
NCT00389181
The purpose of this study is to determine if medical management is better than invasive therapy for improving the long-term outcome of patients with unruptured brain arteriovenous malformations.
NCT00304889
The purpose of this study is to compare the outcome of treatment with nitazoxanide vs. vancomycin for diarrheal disease due to Clostridium difficile in patients who have failed previous treatment with metronidazole.
NCT00877292
The study will examine the sensitivity and specificity of a circulating cell-free nucleic acid test (DNA/RNA) to identify Down syndrome between about 10 weeks and 21 weeks 6 days gestation. In addition, the new test may be used to identify trisomy 13 and 18 as part of a more complete laboratory developed test. We hypothesize that the new circulating cell-free fetal NA-based test will accurately and precisely measure specific fetal markers in maternal circulation and that measurement will lead to the ability to noninvasively identify with high sensitivity and specificity, fetal chromosome abnormalities, such as Down syndrome.
NCT01346293
The study was designed to compare the safety and immunogenicity of DTap-IPV with DAPTACEL® + IPOL® as the 5th dose booster in children ≥ 4 to \< 7 years of age in the US and Puerto Rico who were previously vaccinated with DAPTACEL® and/or Pentacel® vaccines only. Primary Objectives: * To compare the pertussis \[Pertussis Toxoid (PT), Filamentous Haemagglutinin (FHA), Pertactin (PRN), and Fimbriae Types 2 and 3 (FIM)\] booster responses and geometric mean concentrations (GMCs) (as measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay \[ELISA\]) following DTap-IPV vaccination to those elicited following DAPTACEL® + IPOL® vaccination when administered as a 5th dose. * To compare the diphtheria and tetanus booster responses and GMCs (as measured by ELISA) following DTap-IPV vaccination with those elicited following DAPTACEL® + IPOL® vaccinations when administered as a 5th dose . * To compare the Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine booster responses (as measured by neutralizing assay) following DTap-IPV vaccination with those elicited following DAPTACEL® + IPOL® vaccinations. Observational Objectives: * To compare the polio (types 1, 2, and 3) geometric mean titers (GMTs) following DTap-IPV vaccination with those elicited following DAPTACEL® + IPOL® vaccinations. * To assess the safety of DTap-IPV vaccine or DAPTACEL® + IPOL® vaccine when administered as the fifth dose booster vaccine in participants previously vaccinated with DAPTACEL and/or Pentacel vaccines.
NCT01488929
Negative symptoms and cognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia (CDS) are core features of schizophrenia. These negative symptoms and cognitive deficits have a devastating impact on the function, employment, and social interactions of patients with schizophrenia. Medications used to treat schizophrenia (e.g. atypical antipsychotics) do not improve negative symptoms or CDS. TC-5619 is being developed for use as an add-on therapy in combination with atypical antipsychotics to treat patients with negative symptoms and CDS.
NCT01857323
This is a prospective, open-label, multicenter Phase 3 study evaluating the performance of the Albuterol Spiromax dose counter in patients with a diagnosis of asthma and/or COPD. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the functionality, reliability, and accuracy of the Albuterol Spiromax inhaler integrated dose counter in a clinical setting.
NCT00110994
This is a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, multicenter, phase II study to compare the anti-tumor activity as measured by progression-free survival (PFS) and the tolerability of Sorafenib in combination with Dacarbazine (DTIC) versus DTIC in combination with placebo in subjects with unresectable Stage III or Stage IV melanoma who have not received prior cytotoxic chemotherapy. A total of approximately 98 subjects will be randomized to receive DTIC + Sorafenib or DTIC + Placebo.
NCT01365052
The purpose of this trial is to see how safe the combination of naproxen sodium 440 mg and diphenhydramine hydrochloride (DPH) 50 mg (the investigational product) is compared to placebo (capsules containing no drug) when taken for 10 days.
NCT02405039
This is a randomized, double masked study designed to evaluate the safety of EBI-005 5 mg/mL topical ophthalmic solution given three times daily (TID) compared to vehicle-control over a one year period in subjects with dry eye disease (DED). Approximately 188 subjects will be enrolled to either EBI-005 or vehicle at up to 15 centers in the United States (US) and Canada.
NCT00621049
Multicenter randomized phase II trial to examine the safety and efficacy of carboplatin, docetaxel, bevacizumab followed by maintenance bevacizumab and erlotinib in patients with completely resected stage IB, II, and select III NSCLC.
NCT01203475
This study was a multicenter, prospective cohort study to define postnatal longitudinal growth for very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. The objectives were: 1) to develop postnatal growth curves for VLBW preterm infants that would permit an assessment of growth velocity; 2) to relate growth velocity and nutritional practices (duration of parenteral nutrition, age at first enteral feeding, and age at full enteral feeding); 3) to compare growth velocity in infants who are small-for-gestational age (SGA) with infants who are appropriate-for-gestational age (AGA); and 4) to relate growth velocity to several common, major morbidities, including chronic lung disease (CLD), nosocomial infection (or late-onset infection) and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). These growth data may be useful in identifying preterm infants who are growing slowly despite current nutritional support and in designing and performing clinical trials of nutritional interventions.
NCT00927641
The objective of this study is to demonstrate the multiple-dose efficacy and safety of HKT-500 for the treatment of ankle sprain.
NCT00650091
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a long-term lung disease that affects an individual's ability to breathe. In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, we assigned patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis who had mild-to-moderate lung-function impairment to one of three groups - receiving a combination of prednisone, azathioprine, and NAC (combination therapy), NAC alone, or placebo - in a 1:1:1 ratio.
NCT00746759
The purpose of the research study is to develop a new, more sensitive, and less invasive test for diagnosing lung cancer at an earlier stage, when it can more easily be cured. The investigators hypothesize that certain genes are expressed differently in current and former smokers who have lung cancer, and this difference in gene expression may be a biomarker for lung cancer.
NCT01335061
The purpose of this study will be to determine if a once-weekly prophylaxis regimen of BeneFIX in subjects with moderately severe to severe Hemophilia B is safe and effective.
NCT00947882
A dose-finding, multi-centre, double-blind, randomised, parallel, placebo-controlled trial to investigate efficacy and safety of degarelix in men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
