NCT01681225
This phase II multi-centered, randomized controlled trial of mechanical ventilation directed by esophageal pressure measurement will test the primary hypothesis that using a strategy of maintaining a minimal but positive transpulmonary pressure (Ptp = airway pressure minus pleural pressure) throughout the ventilatory cycle will lead to an improvement in patient survival.
NCT01993147
The purpose of this study was to learn more about the brain circuits involved with effortful control in healthy adult participants. It was planned that the study would enroll 80 participants to a dual task paradigm pilot while undergoing a fMRI scan to assess brain mechanisms that cause the "depletion effect". This effect refers to the observation that people perform more poorly on effortful control tasks after they have already performed task requiring effortful control. Then subsequent study participants would be given either methylphenidate (also known as 'Ritalin') which is FDA approved and the most widely-used medication for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or a placebo, which is a sugar pill. Each participant would also perform some computer tasks that have been shown in previous studies to require effortful control while undergoing an fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) which takes a special kind of picture of the brain. The study's goal was to learn more about the brain mechanisms by which methylphenidate improves effortful control. After enrolling the first 50 participants, the study assessed whether a depletion effect was observed in the dual task paradigm. It was found that there was not: there was no statistically significant difference in effortful control performance comparing subjects who did and did not perform a prior effortful control task. Because the behavioral manipulation failed, it was determined that the drug manipulation portion of the study was no longer justified. Thus, after enrolling 50 participants to the pilot part of the study, the decision was made to terminate the study without beginning the trial of methylphenidate.
NCT02268942
This is a prospective, multi-center,single-arm study that will evaluate the thoracotomy implant technique in up to 145 subjects implanted via thoracotomy with the HeartWare HVAD System and enrolled in the Interagency Registry for Mechanically Assisted Circulatory Support (Intermacs®) protocol and database. All participating centers are current INTERMACS® sites in good standing and follow the INTERMACS® protocol and procedures.
NCT01770353
This is a Phase I study to understand the biodistribution of MM-398 and to determine the feasibility of using Ferumoxytol as a tumor imaging agent.
NCT01197560
The purpose of this study is to compare lenalidomide to a control drug and see which one delays Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) disease progression longer.
NCT02986854
The purpose/aim of this study is to assess the safety and antibody response to vaccination with a booster dose of Menveo given 4-6 years after primary MenACWY vaccination and to assess the safety and antibody response to a single dose of Menveo given to vaccine-naïve subjects
NCT01864174
The purpose of this study is determine if Metformin XR monotherapy in subjects with type 2 diabetes is non-inferior to Metformin IR monotherapy
NCT00461526
Clinical Trial with TRN-002 in Women with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and effectiveness of a new investigational drug in women for the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome. The investigational drug is a natural product taken from a plant that grows in South America. The study medication will be administered orally twice a day. Subjects will be not able to remain on certain standard IBS medications (anti-diarrheals) while participating in the study. The total duration of the study is 18 weeks. The study requires five study visits that include physical exams, ECG, blood draws, laboratory studies, and a colon procedure (such as a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy if an appropriate procedure has not been performed in the last 5 years.) Participants will be asked to make entries into a touch-tone telephone diary on a daily basis. Participants must meet all of the following criteria: * Females at least 18 years of age * Diagnosis of diarrhea predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome * Willingness to make daily calls on a touch-tone telephone * Willingness to have an endoscopic and/or radiologic bowel evaluation, if you have not received one in the past 5 years. * Willingness to take an approved method of birth control (if required) Participants CANNOT meet any of the following criteria: * Serious medical or surgical conditions * Colon Cancer, Crohns Disease or Ulcerative Colitis * Pregnant or breast feeding
NCT02096263
The purpose of this study is to assess the immunogenicity and safety of GSK Biologicals' Infanrix hexa vaccine when administered to healthy infants as primary vaccination at 2, 4 and 6 months of age, co-administered with Prevnar and Rotarix with a booster dose of GSK Biologicals' Infanrix and Hiberix vaccines at 15-18 months of age.
NCT00085449
RATIONALE: Giving low doses of chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, and radiation therapy before a donor peripheral blood stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It also stops the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells when they do not exactly match the patient's blood. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune system and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can also make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving cyclosporine and mycophenolate mofetil before transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects of alemtuzumab, fludarabine, and melphalan with or without cyclosporine, mycophenolate mofetil, and total-body irradiation before donor peripheral blood stem cell transplant and to see how well they work in treating patients with relapsed or refractory hematologic cancer.
NCT00093145
This trial will treat patients with advanced breast cancer with a new anti-cancer medicine used in combination with two existing anti-cancer medications: Albumin-bound paclitaxel (ABI-007), Carboplatin and Herceptin. Participants will be given the combination therapy on a weekly basis and may continue on therapy as long as their condition improves and drug toxicity is tolerated.
