NCT01223287
This observational study was conducted to design and test a physiologic definition for bronchopulmonary dysplasia at 36 weeks of life. Infants were studied in a supine position with the pulse oximeter in position with good signal prior to collecting baseline data. Feedings and medications were given 30 minutes before the evaluation. Baseline data was collected on infant's current oxygen. Then, the infants were weaned to room air for 30 minutes. If saturations remain ≥90%, the infant was considered to have passed the oxygen reduction challenge (to NOT have BPD). The infant should then be placed back in his/her baseline oxygen. If the infant has saturations \<90% for 5 continuous minutes or \<80% for 15 seconds, the infant should be immediately placed back in his/her baseline oxygen, and the infant was considered to have NOT passed the challenge (to have BPD).
NCT00005776
Respiratory failure in term newborns is associated with increased rates of death and long-term neurodevelopmental problems. This large international multicenter trial randomized newborns who had failed to respond to intensive care, including high levels of ventilator support, to receive either inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) or 100 percent oxygen to test whether iNO would decrease their risk of dying or requiring temporary lung bypass. Infants were followed during their initial hospitalization; their outcome was assessed at 18 to 24 mos of age.
NCT00016523
This multicenter trial tested whether inhaled nitric oxide would reduce death or the need for oxygen in preterm infants (less than 34 weeks gestational age) with severe lung disease.
NCT01203514
This study tested the safety and efficacy of transfusing erythropoietin (Epo) and iron in infants of \<1,250g birth weight. For infants 401-1,000g birth weight, we tested whether early erythropoietin (Epo) and iron therapy would decrease the number of transfusions received. For infants 1,001-1,250g birth weight, we tested whether early erythropoietin (Epo) and iron therapy would decrease the percentage of infants who received any transfusions.
NCT01684423
The purpose of this study is to find out whether rivaroxaban is safe to use in children and how long it stays in the body. There will also be a check for bleeding and worsening of blood clots.
NCT02504021
A randomized clinical trial for patients with end stage renal disease in which a family consultation condition is compared against a treatment as usual control condition on the hospital readmissions after 1 month as the primary outcome variable.
NCT01593228
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of iniparib administered as monotherapy or in combination regimens in patients previously treated with iniparib in a clinical study and who have derived clinical benefit after completion of the parental study's objectives.
NCT00632905
Prostate Cancer patients treated with LHRH agonists (e.g., goserelin) lose Bone Mineral Density (BMD). Using a prospective, observational study design, we propose that monitoring how physicians manage Cancer Treatment Induced Bone Loss(CTIBL) in their patients. The gold standard for evaluating BMD is dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). The proposed study will provide some of the first prospective data on the rates of Skeletal Related Events (SREs) in prostate cancer patients undergoing ADT and help develop official guidelines on the use of DEXA screening for prostate cancer patients.
NCT00620451
This study was conducted to assess the safety and efficacy of larazotide acetate versus placebo in inducing remission in subjects with active celiac disease.
NCT00492960
This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of multiple doses of larazotide acetate in preventing intestinal permeability changes induced by a 6- week gluten challenge in subjects with celiac disease.
NCT01572142
The overarching goal of this prospective cohort study is to test the hypotheses that greater severity of hyposmia is associated with increased risk of cognitive decline in PD and that worsening hyposmia parallels progressive cholinergic limbic denervation. To achieve the goals of this project, patients with PD without dementia or at-risk of dementia or with dementia will undergo longitudinal olfactory, cognitive and clinical testing for 2-4 years. AChE \[11C\]PMP or VAchT (vesicular acetylcholine transporter) \[F18\]-FEOBV PET will be performed both at study entry and at 2-years (± 6 months) follow-up. Brain MRI scans will also be performed at study entry and at 2-years (± 6 months) follow-up. Brain Beta-amyloid PET will be performed at study entry or at 2 years (± 6 months). Annual olfactory testing will be performed to better understand dynamic changes underlying the clinical and PET outcome measures.
NCT01644877
This protocol will seek to enroll immunocompromised patients who are on supplemental oxygen and diagnosed with a parainfluenza infection.
NCT01340794
This phase II trial studies how well pazopanib hydrochloride works in treating patients with advanced or progressive malignant pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma. Pazopanib hydrochloride may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
NCT01499173
Getting to the hospital quickly is the key to treating stroke. African Americans suffer more strokes with worse outcomes and receive stroke treatments less often than European Americans. This project will work to reduce these health disparities by creating and testing the feasibility of a peer-led faith-based behavioral intervention in an African American community with a goal to increase calls to 911 so stroke patients can be treated quickly.
NCT01570192
The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate a low rate of emergence of antibiotic resistance in P. aeruginosa and Acinetobacter spp during the treatment of hospitalized patients with pneumonia requiring mechanical ventilation treated with PD optimized meropenem administered as a prolonged infusion in combination with a parenteral aminoglycoside plus tobramycin by inhalation (Group 1) compared to therapy with meropenem alone (Group 2 - control arm).
NCT01222364
This study tested the feasibility of conducting a randomized controlled trial to vary the timing that doctors clamp the umbilical cord after birth in extremely low birthweight infants. The study also tested whether delaying cord clamping by 30-35 seconds and holding the newborn approximately 10 inches below the birth canal would result in increased hematocrit at 4 hours of age.
NCT01036724
The purpose of this study is to determine the change in median radiation exposure time and median procedure time following guided radiofrequency (RF) ablation among subjects undergoing treatment for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation with either the CARTO® 3 or the NavX(TM) System. It is hypothesized that described features will reduce the median radiation exposure during the CARTO® 3 system-guided procedures compared to the NavX(TM) system-guided procedures.
NCT00875446
The drug being tested in this study is GSK1223249. It is being developed by GlaxoSmithKline to treat symptoms in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The drug works by inhibiting the protein that prevents nerve growth. This will be the first time the drug will be given to man. The trial is expected to involve approximately 76 patients. The study objective is to investigate the tolerability, safety and the way the body handles GSK1223249 after a range of single doses or repeat dose escalation in patients with ALS.
NCT00136578
The purpose of this study is to determine the dose regimen of Ispinesib in combination with carboplatin in patients with solid tumors. Ispinesib is dosed by 1-hour intravenous infusion and carboplatin is dosed by 30 minute intravenous infusion every 3 weeks (on the same day). A patient may continue to receive treatment as long as they are benefiting from the treatment. Blood samples will be taken at specific times to measure the amount of both drugs in your body at specific times after the drug is given. Blood samples will also be taken for lab tests such as complete blood counts and clinical chemistries. Physical exams will be performed before each treatment with Ispinesib. During the treatment phase, the patients will undergo regular assessments for safety and clinical response.
NCT01617681
To assess efficacy, safety and tolerability of valsartan when comparing two doses of valsartan in reducing and controlling blood pressure in children with hypertension with or without CKD.
