This is a research study designed to look at the efficacy and safety of daptomycin given at a dose of 6 mg/kg or 8 mg/kg in subjects being treated for prosthetic hip or knee infections caused by Staphylococci. These types of bacteria are among the most common types of bacteria causing infections of prosthetic joints.

The purpose of this randomized, double-blind study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of mepolizumab (300 milligram \[mg\] administered subcutaneously \[SC\] every 4 weeks) compared with placebo over a 52-week study treatment period in subjects with relapsing or refractory Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA) receiving standard of care therapy including background corticosteroid therapy with or without immunosuppressive therapy. During the treatment period, in accordance with standard of care, corticosteroid dose will be tapered. The key outcomes in the study focus on evaluation of clinical remission, defined as Birmingham Vasculitis Activity Score (BVAS)=0 with a corticosteroid dose of \<=4 mg/day prednisolone/prednisone, reduction in disease relapse and reduction in corticosteroid requirement.

This phase II trial is studying how well giving bevacizumab together with cisplatin, radiation therapy, and fluorouracil works in treating patients with stage IIB, stage III, stage IVA, or stage IVB nasopharyngeal cancer. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Bevacizumab may also stop the growth of nasopharyngeal cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and fluorouracil, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving bevacizumab together with chemotherapy and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells.

To further develop interventions, the investigators need a better understanding of which task requirements (i.e. size or weight of object, location in workspace, etc.) drive a person after stroke to use 2 hands (as opposed to 1), and how the severity of their injury impacts this relationship and compare this to reaching in age-matched healthy controls subjects. A better understanding of this relationship will promote more informed development of rehabilitative interventions. This study proposes to explore in people after stroke and healthy controls: i.) how specific functional tasks requirements relate to 1 vs. 2 handed use, and ii.) how stroke severity impacts this arm use. We are proposing to study 15 individuals more than 6 months after stroke in the CSU Motor Behavior Lab for a two x 3 hour session of task-related reaching in sitting and 33 age matched (double sample size) healthy controls. The investigators will systematically vary task requirements (i.e. object size or weight, location in workspace, etc.), and record use of 1 versus 2 hands using videotaping as well as recording of quality of arm movement (kinematics) and muscle activity (EMG) in both arms.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the most common cause of acquired disability in youth and a source of significant morbidity and family burden. Novel behavior problems are among the most common and problematic consequences, yet many youth fail to receive needed psychological services due to lack of identification and access. Linking youth with TBI to effective treatments could improve functional outcomes, reduce family burden, and increase treatment satisfaction. The investigators overarching aim is to compare the effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability of three formats of family problem solving therapy (F-PST) for improving functional outcomes of complicated mild to severe adolescent TBI: therapist-guided, face-to-face; therapist-guided online; and self-guided, online F-PST.

Aplastic Anemia (AA) is an autoimmune hematologic stem cell disease mediated by activated T-lymphocytes that leads to pancytopenia. The disease related morbidity and mortality if left untreated can approach 90%. For over 30 years, anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) in combination with cyclosporine (CsA) remains the standard therapy. However, the treatment response with ATG is at best between 50-60% with a sizeable number of partial responses. Treatment with ATG is also associated with significant toxicity and high relapse rate that can be as high as 45%. Since the prognosis in refractory and relapsed AA remains poor, there is a need for less toxic novel immunosuppressive agents that can improve response rates and remission duration in refractory and relapsed AA. Alefacept is a human recombinant dimeric fusion protein composed of the terminal portion of leukocyte functioning antigen-3 (LFA3/CD58) and the Fc portion of human IgG1. It prevents co-stimulatory signals between antigen presenting cells and memory T cells by competitive inhibition of CD2 in T cells, induces selective apoptosis of CD4+ and CD8+ memory effector T cells by interaction between the Fc portion of IgG1 and the FcyIII in NK cells, and possibly direct ligation of CD2 molecules on T cells that subsequently result in the alteration in T cell agonist signaling. It has been used successfully in the treatment of other T cell mediated disorders particularly psoriasis and steroid refractory graft versus host disease (GVHD) with minimal side effects. In a case of liver transplant associated AA (similar to transfusion associated AA) which is fatal in most patients, Alefacept induced remission after patient did not respond to ATG and other immunosuppressants. The investigators hypothesize that the LFA3-CD2 co-stimulatory pathway play an important role in the immune pathogenesis of AA and treatment with Alefacept can help treat refractory/relapsed cases of AA.

The investigators thus propose to use an innovative randomized effectiveness trial design to test the theory that early automatic identification of a ¡ Low Systolic Blood Pressure¡± clinical condition and decision-support alerts will prompt earlier hemodynamic support and a consequently reduce the duration of such conditions. Specifically, the investigators will test the hypothesis that providing DSS alerts in regards to hypotension reduces the duration of hypotensive episodes. The core of the investigators study will be an existing electronic anesthesia record and smart-alarm decision-support system. All patients undergoing surgery at Hillcrest will be randomly assigned to routine care or to DSS support. In patients assigned to DSS support, a systolic blood pressure less than 80 mmHg will generate a warning within three minutes after detection. Clinicians will be free to act on the alert, ignore the alert, or to consider the provided information without acting on it. The randomization, complete anesthesia record, detailed record of hypotensive events, alerts provided, clinician responses, and SAP response, will be captured by the investigators electronic record-keeping system. The investigators primary outcome will be the duration of time the patient has a systolic blood pressure less than 80 mmHg. Secondary outcome will be duration of hospitalization. The investigators will assess the effect of the alert on the primary outcome of time to SBP returning to above 80 mmHg using survival analysis, with time to event censored (and considered a non-event) at either the end of surgery or end of monitoring if patient did not return to above 80 mmHg.

This is a phase III multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of GSK573719/GW642444 Inhalation Powder, GSK573719 Inhalation Powder, GW642444 Inhalation Powder and Placebo when administered once-daily via a Novel Dry Powder Inhaler over a 24-week treatment period in subjects with COPD. Subjects who meet eligibility criteria at Screening (Visit 1) will complete a 7 to14 day run-in period followed by a randomization visit (Visit 2) then a 24-week treatment period. There will be a total of 9 clinic study visits. A follow-up phone contact for adverse event assessment will be conducted approximately one week after the last study visit (Visit 9 or Early Withdrawal). The total duration of subject participation in the study will be approximately 27 weeks. A subset of subjects at selected sites will also perform 24-hour serial spirometry and Holter monitoring during the study and provide serial blood samples for pharmacokinetic analysis. Sparse pharmacokinetic sampling for population pharmacokinetic analyses will be obtained from non-subset subjects. The primary measure of efficacy is clinic visit trough (pre-bronchodilator and pre-dose) FEV1 on Treatment Day 169. Safety will be assessed by adverse events, 12-lead ECGs, vital signs, clinical laboratory tests, and 24 hour Holter monitoring (subset only).

The primary objective of this trial is to assess the safety of an uninterrupted dabigatran etexilate periprocedural anticoagulant regimen compared to an uninterrupted warfarin regimen in Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation (NVAF) patients undergoing Atrial Fibrillation (AF) ablation in a PROBE (Prospective, randomized, open label, blinded end point) active controlled study. Secondary objectives are to assess additional safety endpoints and efficacy in this clinical setting. It is not intended to assess confirmatory hypothesis, this is an exploratory study.

The objective of this study is to test the hypothesis that INTERCEPT Blood System for platelet components stored for 6 or 7 days after INTERCEPT Blood System treatment retain sufficient viability for therapeutic efficacy. The post-infusion recovery and lifespan of autologous INTERCEPT Blood System for platelet components in 35% plasma/65% InterSol (Test platelets) stored for 6 or 7 days will be measured in comparison to "fresh" autologous radiolabeled platelets (Control platelets) according to FDA guidance for platelet testing (FDA 1999). Recovery and lifespan results between components stored for 6 and 7 days will also be assessed.

The purpose of this study is to learn about a new bowel preparation that uses food to clean the colon. In order to learn about this new food preparation, some people in this study will get the food preparation, and others will get the standard liquid bowel preparation. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of 3 types of sensory-targeted rehabilitation interventions on subjective and objective measures of function for those with chronic ankle instability. The investigators hypothesize that subjective and objective measures of function including self-reported disability, balance, and range of motion will improve after 2-weeks of sensory-targeted interventions.
