NCT00972868
The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility, safety and efficacy of a unidirectional breathing mask (breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth or breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose) in COPD patients with breathing difficulties requiring noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV).
NCT01873729
The primary aim of this study is to assess whether naltrexone as a monotherapy is effective in treating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults. Medications that increase dopamine are often effective in treating ADHD in adults. Since naltrexone is a kappa opioid receptor antagonist, it increases dopamine in the brain. We predict that naltrexone as a monotherapy will be effective for ADHD symptoms in adults with ADHD.
NCT00216983
The overall purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of depleting proline supply in the nutritional support regimen on proline metabolism in the burn patients, this includes the rate of proline oxidation after burn injury, the rate of proline de novo synthesis from its immediate precursors glutamate and ornithine. The specific aims of the proposed study are: 1) to determine the kinetic status of proline metabolism and whole body proline balance under the following nutritional states: (a) "fasting; (b) regular total parenteral nutrition (TPN); (c)TPN with isonitrogenous depletion of proline, glutamate and ornithine metabolism under nutritional conditions studied in specific aim 1) above.
