NCT03480763
This study is designed 1) to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of V114 and Prevnar 13™, 2) to describe the safety of sequential administration of V114 or Prevnar 13™ followed by PNEUMOVAX™23, and 3) to evaluate the immune responses to the 15 serotypes contained in V114 when PNEUMOVAX™23 is given approximately 12 months after receipt of either V114 or Prevnar 13™ in healthy adults 50 years of age or older. There was no formal hypothesis testing.
NCT00329030
This study is designed as a Phase III, multicenter trial, comparing progression-free survival (PFS) after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation using a standard Rituxan plus BEAM transplant regimen versus a regimen adding Bexxar to BEAM.
NCT03170271
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of benralizumab on the rate of asthma exacerbations, patient reported quality of life and lung function during the 24-week treatment in patients with uncontrolled, severe asthma with an eosinophilic phenotype. A subset of patients will be assessed for their ongoing chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. The study design has been updated to include a 56-week open label ANDHI in Practice (ANDHI IP) sub study upon the completion of the 24-week double-blind period of the ANDHI study.
NCT01461096
Men who have sex with men (MSM) have an increased risk of developing anal human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, which can be a risk factor for anal cancer. HIV-infected women are also at risk of anal cancer. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved quadrivalent HPV vaccine, Gardasil, at preventing anal HPV infection in HIV-infected MSM and HIV-infected women.
NCT00017719
The best anti-HIV treatment regimen for pregnant women is not known. Protease inhibitors (PIs) are often used, but they have side effects that may be harmful for pregnant women. It is not known if treatment regimens that do not include PIs are as effective in pregnant women as those that include PIs. This trial will compare two anti-HIV treatment plans, one with and one without PIs, in women who start HIV treatment during pregnancy. The study will evaluate the effects of the anti-HIV drugs on the developing infant and prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission during pregnancy.
NCT01310413
This study will assess safety and immunogenicity of GSK Biologicals' H5N1 flu candidate vaccine GSK1557484A in children 6 months to \< 18 years of age.
NCT00006144
The purpose of this study is to better understand the relationship between age and HIV disease progression. This study will explore the possible relationship between age and HIV disease progression. Older age is an important risk factor for faster disease development, but older people may respond better to combination drug therapy. This relationship needs to be understood better.
NCT00006145
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is a common opportunistic infection (OI) in HIV patients. The purpose of this study is to find out whether valganciclovir, an antiviral approved by the FDA for the treatment of CMV in the eye, is safe and effective in preventing CMV organ damage in people with HIV.
NCT00008463
The purpose of this study is to see if treatment with PEG-interferon-alfa-2a (PEG-IFN) plus ribavirin is a more effective treatment for hepatitis C virus (HCV) than interferon-alfa-2a (IFN) plus ribavirin for patients infected with both HCV and HIV. The study will also compare the 2 regimens to see which has fewer side effects. HCV infection is common in patients infected with HIV. Patients infected with both HIV and HCV viruses seem to have more severe hepatitis C. A combination of IFN and ribavirin has been shown to lessen the severity of HCV. PEG-IFN is a modified form of IFN that stays in the blood longer, which means that patients would not have to take the treatment as often. This study will compare the safety and effectiveness of PEG-IFN to IFN when each is combined with ribavirin.
NCT00706394
Study of anatomical fixation with a 34mm proximal extension
NCT00000625
To determine the efficacy and safety of zidovudine ( AZT ) versus didanosine ( ddI ), AZT plus ddI, and AZT plus zalcitabine ( ddC ) in preventing disease progression in HIV-infected patients with CD4 counts of 200-500 cells/mm3.
NCT00107549
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety of two recombinant HIV vaccines in HIV infected young adults on stable anti-HIV therapy.
NCT00001030
To compare the efficacy and safety of clarithromycin alone versus rifabutin alone versus the two drugs in combination for the prevention or delay of Mycobacterium avium Complex (MAC) bacteremia or disseminated MAC disease. To compare other parameters such as survival, toxicity, and quality of life among the three treatment arms. To obtain information on the incidence and clinical grade of targeted gynecologic conditions. Persons with advanced stages of HIV are considered to be at particular risk for developing disseminated MAC disease. The development of an effective regimen for the prevention of disseminated MAC disease may be of substantial benefit in altering the morbidity and possibly the mortality associated with this disease and its treatment.
NCT00001061
To evaluate the effect of MSL 109, human monoclonal anti-cytomegalovirus (CMV) antibody, on time to progression of CMV retinitis. To determine the safety and pharmacokinetic profile of MS 109. To evaluate the relationship between pharmacokinetic measurements of MSL 109 and efficacy and virologic markers. Therapeutic agents currently available for CMV retinitis are limited by their inherent toxicities and short half-lives which require frequent intravenous dosing. Alternatively, MSL 109 has demonstrated safety and effectiveness in neutralizing CMV isolates at concentrations easily maintained in AIDS patients.
NCT00001067
To determine drug efficacy and safety in HIV-infected patients treated with zidovudine ( AZT ) versus stavudine ( d4T ) versus both drugs. Also, to compare short- and long-term changes in magnitude of HIV RNA over time. Asymptomatic patients with CD4 counts over 300 cells/mm3 are more likely to tolerate any of the nucleoside analogs. d4T, with a favorable toxicity profile and demonstrated anti-HIV activity in previous studies, provides an additional therapeutic option.
NCT00050895
With new strategies and drugs available, many different regimens exist for the treatment of HIV. The purpose of this study is to compare three different anti-HIV drug regimens as first-time treatments for HIV infection.
NCT00009555
The purpose of this study is to see if treatment with testosterone will reduce abdominal fat in HIV-positive men. Many HIV patients on antiretroviral therapy show an increase in abdominal fat. Studies have shown that treatment with testosterone may decrease abdominal fat. This study will determine if testosterone will reduce abdominal fat in HIV patients.
NCT00096694
Oral contraceptives (OCs) are not a good option for some HIV infected women because of the potential for drug interactions between OCs and anti-HIV drugs; additionally, OCs may increase the risk of transmitting HIV to sexual partners. Levonorgestrel is commonly prescribed as part of a combination OC. An intrauterine device (IUD) is a device inserted in a woman's uterus to prevent pregnancy. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of a levonorgestrel-releasing IUD on the amount of HIV present in an HIV infected woman's cervix after 4 weeks of IUD use. Study hypothesis: There will be no increase in genital tract HIV RNA and DNA after placement of the levonorgestrel IUD.
NCT02965781
This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of SADBE in the prevention of recurrent herpes labialis in adults. Two-thirds of the participants will receive a SADBE solution, while the other third will receive only the vehicle as a placebo control. The solutions will be administered topically to the patient's arms. The study will compare a single-arm application versus a two-arm application versus two placebo doses on the arm.
NCT00458393
The purpose of this study is to determine whether daily use of emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (FTC/TDF) can prevent HIV infection in men who also receive HIV counseling, condoms, and treatment for other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
