NCT00203333
People with epilepsy are at a higher risk for sudden unexpected death than the general population. Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is a major cause of death in this population, accounting for 10-50% of deaths for those with epilepsy. The risk for SUDEP is particularly high for those with refractory epilepsy. Several lines of evidence support a cardiac mechanism for SUDEP. This study plans to determine: 1. the frequency and types of cardiac arrhythmias that occur in this population and 2. whether these are increased above the general population in the same age group. Additionally, these data will be correlated to specific clinical data, including seizure history, anticonvulsant medications, and any accompanying clinical symptoms.
NCT01838499
The purpose of this study is to gain initial evidence for the safety, tolerability and efficacy of MEDI8968 for the treatment of subjects with moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa
NCT01993654
This study aims to validate the use of laser in vivo confocal microscopy as an early diagnostic and differentiation tool of pigmented conjunctival lesions, evaluate the efficacy of in vivo confocal microscopy for follow-up (as a visualizing tool) after tumor resection for early detection of tumor recurrence, and to evaluate the use of in vivo confocal microscopy in evaluation of response to treatment. The modified technique with Heidelberg Retina Tomography (HRT) confocal microscopy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) are non-invasive, no-touch, imaging techniques that may help in differentiation of benign lesions like nevi or racial melanosis, from malignant lesions like primary acquired melanosis and malignant melanomas. The OCT will potentially allow to estimate tumor depth in vivo as preliminary studies have shown.
NCT01116245
Cervical cancer is associated with Human Papilloma Virus. About 57% of cervical cancer is the result of infection by Human Papilloma Virus strain 16 (HPV-16). HPV is a very common virus that can affect the cells of the cervix. E7 is a substance that is made by the HPV virus which causes cervical cancer. The purpose of the study is to test the safety, tolerability (how the drug makes you feel), immunology (effects on the immune system) and efficacy (disease curing effects) of a vaccine called Lovaxin C against E7. The vaccine is designed to cause the immune system to react against the E7 substance in a manner that is intended to reverse the changes to the cervix and prevent cervical cancer from occurring.
NCT01251549
ReWalk suit developed by Argo Medical Technologies is designed to enable people with lower limb disabilities to carry out routine ambulatory functions (stand, walk etc.); it can be used by people with disabilities such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and other pathologies that produce severe walking impairments.
NCT01750957
This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-arm study will evaluate the safety and exploratory efficacy and pharmacokinetics of RO4917523 in pediatric patients with fragile X syndrome. Patients will be randomized to receive one of 2 dose levels of RO4917523 or placebo orally daily for 12 weeks.
NCT00221000
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune inflammatory disorder that can cause substantial pain and joint tenderness, significant joint damage, and serious disability. The treatment goals are minimization of the signs and symptoms of the disease, and the reduction of irreversible joint damage. As the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying RA is elucidated, the opportunity to target specific inflammatory processes with new therapies has improved. Rheumatoid arthritis is a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease and there are various therapies, including newer experimental therapies, which target either the activation of T cells or the neutralization of their effector mechanisms. These newer therapies have shown benefit in human and animal models of RA. Extracorporeal photoimmune therapy (ECP) has been shown to be safe and effective in the palliative treatment of the skin manifestations of cutaneous T cell lymphoma. Experimental studies have also demonstrated activity of ECP treatment in several T cell mediated diseases including graft versus-host disease, rejection after organ transplantation, and selected autoimmune diseases. This study will evaluate a cell-based therapy (ECP) in patients who have an inadequate response to disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and biological agents to determine if ECP treatment can reduce the signs and symptoms of RA in this refractory patient population.
NCT01330628
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of laser atherectomy with balloon angioplasty compared to balloon angioplasty alone in the treatment of above the knee peripheral artery in-stent restenosis.
NCT00072475
RATIONALE: Vatalanib may be effective in preventing the development of leukemia in patients who have myelodysplastic syndromes. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying vatalanib to see how well it works in treating patients with primary or secondary myelodysplastic syndromes.
NCT01436435
The scope of the JET registry to observe long term treatment effects of Jetstream Navitus on various lesions types/morphologies.
NCT02696512
This is a study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the IBRF ACP/MCP intervention protocol in patients with severe disorders of consciousness (SDOC).
NCT01672164
The main focus of this study is to develop blood and/or urine tests that will help to detect early signs of rejection in people who have had a liver transplant. Researchers will examine blood, urine, and tissue samples and try to identify markers for certain conditions such as rejection, response to therapy, and scarring of the liver. Additionally, researchers would like to identify biomarkers that can detect damage to the native kidneys before blood levels of creatinine rises. By studying gene expression, researchers hope to be able to diagnose these conditions earlier and improve liver survival.
NCT00041561
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of nitric oxide for inhalation on the duration of mechanical ventilation in pediatric patients with AHRF.
NCT01414153
The purpose of the study is to determine the safety and efficacy of 4 monthly injections of iSONEP given alone or in combination with Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea in subjects with wet Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). iSONEP not only has an anti-permeability effect, but also has anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic properties. The drug may therefore have the ability to achieve better visual outcomes than Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea, particularly in those subjects who do not demonstrate a robust response to Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea after several monthly injections. Further, the combination of Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea and iSONEP may be additive or synergistic. By inhibiting the multiple mechanisms that contribute to exudative-AMD-related vision loss, better visual outcomes may be possible than with Lucentis, Avastin or Eylea alone.
NCT02222207
Part A (Phase IIa): Primary objectives: The study part A is designed to investigate whether the use of regorafenib eye drops can help patients with neovascular (wet) Age-Related Macular Degeneration (wAMD) to see better after 4 weeks and 12 weeks after inclusion into this study. Secondary objectives: The study will also evaluate the safety and tolerability of the regorafenib eye drops. Part B (Phase IIb): Primary objectives: The study part B is designed to investigate: * how often the regorafenib eye drops need to be given per day * whether the use of regorafenib eye drops can help patients with neovascular (wet) Age-Related Macular Degeneration (wAMD) to see better after 4 weeks and 12 weeks after inclusion into this study. Secondary objectives: The study will also evaluate how the different dosings of regorafenib eye drops affect patients vision, the safety and the tolerability.
