NCT01209299
RATIONALE: Studying samples of tissue in the laboratory from patients receiving carboplatin and paclitaxel with or without sorafenib tosylate may help doctors learn more about the effects of this treatment on cells. It may also help doctors understand how well patients respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This research study is studying biomarkers in predicting response to chemotherapy in patients with advanced or metastatic melanoma previously treated with carboplatin and paclitaxel with or without sorafenib tosylate.
NCT02023710
Mucosal melanoma is rare and associated with extremely poor prognosis. No effective treatment for advanced mucosal melanoma patients.Investigators conducted a randomized phase II study in patients with previously untreated metastatic mucosal melanoma to characterize the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab when combined with carboplatin plus paclitaxel.
NCT00831545
The study implies a 2 step study design. Patients are enrolled into 3 separate groups for melanoma, breast, and non-small cell lung cancer. In the first step, 21 patients per disease group are enrolled. If \>=2 objective responses (SD, PR, or CR) out of 21 evaluable patients are observed, enrollment continues for other 45 patients as a whole, where response will be positively evaluated if \>=10 patients will respond. If \<2 objective responses out of 21 evaluable patients per disease group are observed, this(ese) group(s) will no longer be treated with temozolomide.
