The goal of this study is to assess the role of battlefield acupuncture in the reduction of pain scores status post adult tonsillectomy. Secondary goals of this study include reduction in narcotic usage, decreased nausea and vomiting, and evaluating patient factors that lend an increased risk of worsening pain or improved response with acupuncture.

This study is being conducted to evaluate how the body absorbs and processes the immediate release (IR) and sustained release (XR) medication venlafaxine (Effexor®). Subject who are 1-3 years post gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy surgery will be invited to participate. Non-surgical controls will also be enrolled based on a matching criteria to post gastric bypass subjects. Participants will be asked to complete two 12-hour study days approximately 11 days apart. This study will enroll up to 30 participants.

It is often clinically impossible to differentiate children with an isolated snoring from those with OSA. The diagnosis of OSA is currently based on nocturnal, laboratory-based polysomnography. This expensive examination is poorly accessible due to appointments delays at hospital. Our study is designed to compare the characteristics of a home polysomnography versus standard polysomnography for the diagnosis of pediatric OSA.
