NCT01697566
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn about the effects of metformin and/or a program called "lifestyle intervention" on the endometrium (inner lining of the uterus) in post-menopausal women who are also obese (both are risk factors for endometrial cancer). Researchers also want to learn how insulin levels will be affected by metformin, diet and/or exercise. Metformin is designed to treat both diabetes and insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a condition in which the body makes insulin but does not use it properly. It is often referred to as "pre-diabetes". Many people with insulin resistance have high levels of both sugar and insulin in their blood at the same time, which have been reported in patients with endometrial cancer. In this study, metformin will be compared to a placebo. A placebo is not a drug. It looks like the study drug but is not designed to treat any disease or illness. It is designed to be compared with a study drug to learn if the study drug has any real effect. Lifestyle intervention is made up of a series of in-person sessions where you meet with a coach to discuss strategies for losing weight and ways to increase physical activity. It also consists of materials designed to help you lose weight and will offer opportunities for supervised exercise.
NCT07006337
The goal of this clinical trial is to assess whether integrating an enhanced Surgical Operating Room (OR) curriculum into the medical student program improves knowledge and proficiency in gynecologic surgical techniques and procedures among medical students at Wayne State University. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does the Surgical Operating Room Enrichment Course increase medical students' knowledge and comfort with gynecologic surgical procedures? Does participation in the course improve students' clinical perceptions and management of gynecologic emergencies? Researchers will compare students who participate in the Surgical Operating Room Enrichment Course (intervention group) to those who complete the standard rotation (control group) to see if the enhanced curriculum leads to greater improvements in knowledge and clinical skills. Participants will: Attend virtual didactic lectures covering gynecologic anatomy, perioperative care, surgical techniques, and management of gynecologic emergencies Complete pre- and post-training surveys assessing knowledge, skills, and perceptions related to gynecologic surgery This study involves approximately 60 medical students, with participation being voluntary and all responses de-identified.
NCT06502743
The goal of this study is listed below. Part A (Safety Run-in Phase) : To determine feasibility of pembrolizumab and nesuparib combination as maintenance therapy in patients with MMR-proficient advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer. Feasibility is defined as a dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) rate less than or equal to 33%. Part B (Randomization Phase) : To evaluate the efficacy of pembrolizumab and nesuparib combination/ pembrolizumab monotherapy as maintenance therapy in patients with MMR-proficient advanced stage and recurrent endometrial cancer. Efficacy will be assessed by investigator assessed progression free survival (PFS) as assessed by RECIST 1.1.
NCT06388590
The objective of this study is to determine if alternative pain management strategies, namely acupuncture, may help reduce intensity of female pelvic pain compared to other pain control modalities. This research study will focus specifically on the Dragon's protocol of acupuncture which will seek to alleviate chronic non-endometriosis pelvic pain for women both with and without a history of sexual assault. This study may support evidence for an inexpensive alternative means of treatment for patients with or without traumatic sexual history and chronic pelvic pain.
NCT06642649
The aim of the study is to evaluate and compare general anesthesia VS two types of combined anesthesia in opioid consumption after laparoscopic hysterectomy
NCT06704750
Investigate the current status of perioperative physical fitness. To compare the degree of agreement between the 6-minute walk test and the EQ5D5L-VAS score in assessing recovery after gynecological ERAS, and to provide a reference for a more scientific and comprehensive assessment of patients' physical recovery after gynecological ERAS.
NCT06394752
This is a prospective, single center, multiple arm cohort study intended to compare the diagnostic accuracy of a Visual Saline Infusion Device (VSI) device, vs standard of care Hydrosonography in reproductive aged women to identify pathology in the uterus.
NCT06115330
Pain is one of the most important symptoms of cancer patients, with nearly 40% of all cancer patients experiencing moderate to severe pain. Gynecological oncology patients on palliative care have a chief complaint of pain or significant nausea/vomiting, contrary to the patient's initial complaints on admission such as fever, infection, dyspnea, changes, altered consciousness, bleeding, pancytopenia. Strong recommendations by WHO regarding the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), paracetamol and opioids either alone or in combination in adults, including the elderly and adolescents with cancer-related pain in the early stages, pain relief depending on clinical judgment and severity to achieve pain treatment which is fast and safe. Ear acupuncture is a simple and safe method that can be used alone or in combination with other forms of medical care, which is effective in treating a variety of conditions as well as painful conditions. Based on the previous 2020 systematic review regarding ear acupuncture in its benefits in cancer pain, it was stated that ear acupuncture was effective in treating pain in cancer patients with moderate pain levels, effective for reducing pain scores, faster onset, and longer duration of analgesics. Ear acupuncture is also more effective when compared to standard therapy without acupuncture, so it can be used as an additional modality for cancer pain. Currently there is no research on the effectiveness of BFA ear acupuncture therapy in the treatment of gynecological cancer pain to treat it based on the consistency of point selection, so it is necessary to conduct research on the effectiveness of BFA ear acupuncture therapy in the treatment of gynecological cancer pain. This study aim to analyze the effectiveness of BFA ear acupuncture therapy plus standard therapy on pain intensity (VAS score), changes in analgesic dose, and quality of life (EORTC QLQ C-30 score) in patients with gynecological cancer pain compared to standard therapy alone.
NCT05757011
40 patients who are consenting to be recruited in the study and are fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be subjected to: Group A Before the removal of uterus and the closure of vaginal cuff, insertion of 6inch 22G needle 2 to 3 cm below the umbilicus, 30 ml normal saline (sodium chloride solution 0.9%, FIPCO, Egypt)will be administered. While patients randomized to group B will undergo TLH with pre-sacral nerve block.
NCT04089852

NCT04958577
This study will evaluate the accuracy of the condition suggestions and urgency advice of the Swahili language Ada symptom assessment application (SAA), when symptoms are input by a lay-person user and a medical professional; these SAA results will then be compared to the condition suggestions and urgency advice of different tiers of doctors and a "gold standard" created by a panel.
NCT05129956
This study mainly evaluates the resolution of uterine fibroids by microwave ablation. The medical equipment used is Ke Hui. "The Ampening ablation system is a percutaneous surgery. During laparoscopic surgery, it is directly ablated and soft, including problems that cannot be solved by partial or complete tissue ablation. "Hydrogen is used. If the expected range of ablation can be found, there is no need to wait for 3 to 6 months for ablation slowly like Haifu surgery. A fast, small, high-quality treatment that provides reference for medical treatment and helps doctors choose the most suitable treatment.
NCT04737473
Recently, a lot of side effects have been identified from the perioperative use of opioids. To remedy this, anesthesia research has recently focused on providing safe general anesthesia without opioids in a new concept or anesthetic technic called Opiod Free Anesthesia (OFA). Evidence on the effectiveness and safety of OFA is scarce in Africa, with no report from Cameroon. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility of an adapted OFA protocol as well as its efficacy and safety in very painful surgeries like gynaecology surgery in a low-resource setting.
NCT04492085
China has witnessed a surge in violence against medical personnel, including widely reported incidents of violent abuse, riots, attacks, and protests in hospitals, but little is known about the definite prevalence of workplace violence against physicians of obstetrics and gynecology in China. The aim of this study is to analyze prevalence of workplace violence against physicians of obstetrics and gynecology in China. A customized questionnaire will be delivered by the social software WeChat to the specific hospital which has been randomly sampled, and all physicians of Obstetrics and Gynecology in this hospital will fill the questionnaire anonymously. A random sampling will be performed in all 32 provinces, municipality or autonomous regions in the mainland of China. It is assumed that acceptable 95% confidence interval is P±4%, and the sample size under the condition of simple random sampling is 600 persons. If the homogeneity is set as 0.15 or 0.2, and each population (unit) has 10 or 15 persons accepting survey, we will achieve a design effect of 2.35 to 3.80. If we choose the design effect of 3, the sample size of every level needs is 1800. Considering 10% population refusing to be surveyed, in all mainland of China, three levels of hospitals will include at least 6000 physicians who accept survey.
NCT02700256
The purpose of this pilot study is to find out if patients are willing to self-report symptoms in the first 5 days following discharge, or when they leave the hospital after "ambulatory surgery" ("ambulatory surgery" is when the patient has surgery and then goes home within 24 hours).
NCT04059328
The researchers traveled to University Hospital Mirebalais in Haiti and provided a one week long laparoscopic training and simulation course to the 7 OBGYN faculty there. The researchers used novel checklists to help the faculty to set up for laparoscopic cases and care for the equipment needed. The researchers then asked the physicians their opinion of the checklists.
NCT01565135
The purpose of this study is to determine if a multimodal immunization program carried out in obstetrics and gynecology (ob/gyn) practices would be more effective in improving ob/gyn patients' immunization rates, specifically for Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), HPV (Human papilloma virus), and influenza vaccines, than the usual care provided to patients in ob/gyn practices.
