NCT01312909
The study is designed to see if varenicline combined with age appropriate (adolescent) smoking cessation counseling will help teens quit smoking.
NCT00085098
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy alone is as effective as chemotherapy plus radiation therapy in treating germ cell tumor. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying radiation therapy alone to see how well it works compared to chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating patients with newly diagnosed primary CNS germ cell tumor.
NCT03304574
During adolescence, the most common causes of morbidity and mortality are related to risky behaviors. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that adolescents be screened for these behaviors during primary care visits, but many adolescents do not receive the recommended risk behavior screening and counseling, in part because they are infrequently seen in primary care. The objective of this study is to evaluate if the electronic health screening tool, which includes an electronic health assessment with integrated personalized feedback, reduces risk behaviors in adolescents seen in the Emergency Department (ED).
NCT02484976
BASIC fMRI is a prospective single center intervention trial using fMRI imaging in 9-11 year old obese male and females pre and post family-based behavioral treatment of 24 weeks duration to determine the relationship between impulsivity and central satiety responses.
NCT00240227
This double-blind placebo controlled crossover pilot trial will test the hypothesis that prazosin, an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist, reduces craving for their drug of choice in cocaine-dependent and alcohol-dependent veterans. Both the study medication period and the placebo period are each 4 weeks in duration.
NCT02779192
SPI-1005 is a novel oral drug that contains a glutathione peroxidase mimetic (ebselen) that will be tested in subjects with a history of NIHL at risk for additional NIHL. The goal of this multi-center Phase 2b study is to determine whether SPI-1005 is effective in reducing an acute NIHL in this affected population. In this Phase 2b study subjects with prior NIHL will be enrolled and exposed to a calibrated sound challenge (CSC) that induces a slight acute NIHL.
NCT02398461
This is a Phase 1, multi-center, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, dose-escalation study in subjects with relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The primary outcome will be the safety and tolerability of a single dose of rHIgM22 in relapsing MS subjects.
NCT01335932
To evaluate whether administration of ganciclovir reduces serum IL-6 levels (i.e. reduction between baseline and 14 days post-randomization) in immunocompetent adults with severe sepsis or trauma associated respiratory failure. Primary Hypotheses: \- In CMV seropositive adults with severe sepsis or trauma , pulmonary and systemic CMV reactivation amplifies and perpetuates both lung and systemic inflammation mediated through specific cytokines, and contributes to pulmonary injury and multiorgan system failure, AND \- Prevention of CMV reactivation with ganciclovir decreases pulmonary and systemic inflammatory cytokines that are important in the pathogenesis of sepsis and trauma related complications.
NCT01871805
This non-randomized, open-label, multicenter study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of alectinib in participants with ALK-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer who failed crizotinib treatment. In Phase I, cohorts of participants will receive escalating doses of alectinib orally twice daily. In Phase II, patients who failed crizotinib treatment will receive the recommended phase II dose.
NCT01597492
The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of belimumab on immune response to pneumococcal vaccine in subjects with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
NCT00782626
The purpose of this research study is to learn if the study drug RAD001 can shrink or slow the growth of low-grade gliomas. Additionally, the safety of RAD001 will be studied. RAD001 is a drug that may act directly on tumor cells by inhibiting tumor cell growth and proliferation.
NCT01473771
The purpose of this multi-site randomized controlled trial is to determine if the Caring Letters intervention is effective in preventing suicide and suicidal behaviors among U.S. Service Members and Veterans. The primary aim of this project is determine whether caring communications following inpatient psychiatric treatment reduce suicide and self-inflicted injuries among U.S. military personnel and Veterans. The investigators will also explore treatment utilization by comparing the frequency of treatment visits after enrollment into the study. The following specific hypotheses will be tested: Hypothesis 1: During a two year follow-up after the index hospital discharge, the frequency of suicide will be lower among participants in the Caring Letters group compared to those in the Usual Care group. Hypothesis 2: The frequency of medically admitted self-inflicted injuries will also be lower in the Caring Letters group compared to the Usual Care group. Hypothesis 3: The time to suicidal act, among those who do subsequently exhibit one, will be longer among participants in the Caring Letters group compared to the Usual Care group.
NCT01473420
The purpose of this study is to demonstrate therapeutic equivalence of subcutaneous (SC) Epoetin Hospira compared to SC Epogen (Amgen), based on maintenance of hemoglobin (Hb) levels and study drug dose requirements in patients treated for anemia associated with chronic renal failure and on hemodialysis.
NCT01144338
This study will compare the impact of including exenatide once weekly in addition to usual care vs. usual care without exenatide on major cardiovascular outcomes as measured by the primary composite endpoint of cardiovascular-related death, nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), or nonfatal stroke.
NCT00951405
This trial is conducted in Asia, Europe, Japan and North America. The aim of this clinical trial is to investigate the safety and the efficacy of a prophylactic treatment option with long acting coagulation factor VII (LA-rFVIIa) for haemophilia patients with inhibitors.
NCT03254199
The COMMIT Study will assess the safety and effectiveness of FLX-787 in men and women with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) experiencing muscle cramps. Participants will be asked to take two study products during the course of the study. One of these study products will be a placebo. Approximately 120 participants in 20 study centers across the United States are expected to take part. Participants will be in the study for approximately 3 months and visit the study clinic 3 times.
NCT02279498
Liprotamase powder is a non-porcine, soluble and stable mixture of three digestive enzymes including lipase, protease, and amylase. The purpose of the present study is to provide additional efficacy and safety data compared to approved, porcine-derived, enterically-coated and encapsulated pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy. The primary efficacy endpoint of the study will be comparative efficacy measured as the change in the coefficient of fat absorption (CFA) in Cystic Fibrosis patients with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). Liprotamase is stable in stomach and digestive fluids allowing administration in a variety of convenient formulations and with a number of foods without enteric coating.
NCT01090453
This study will evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of GSK Biologicals' GSK2202083 vaccine co-administered with Prevenar 13® at 2, 4 and 12 months of age and with Rotarix™ at 2 and 4 months of age.
NCT03635359
