NCT00002819
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy alone is more effective than chemotherapy plus peripheral stem cell transplantation for ovarian epithelial cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin with that of carboplatin, mitoxantrone, and cyclophosphamide followed by peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have persistent stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer.
NCT00205777
The purpose of this study is to determine whether bazedoxifene acetate is safe and effective in the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
NCT01096407
RATIONALE: Learning about pain in patients with cancer receiving paclitaxel may help plan treatment and may help patients live more comfortably. Studying samples of urine from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors identify and learn more about biomarkers related to muscle and joint pain. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the role of biomarkers in muscle pain and joint pain in patients with solid tumors receiving paclitaxel.
NCT00003316
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of gemcitabine in treating patients with recurrent or refractory cancer of the uterus.
NCT00704080
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of XL765 in combination with Temozolomide in adults with anaplastic gliomas or glioblastoma on a stable Temozolomide maintenance dose. XL765 is a new chemical entity that inhibits the kinases PI3K and mTOR. In preclinical studies, inactivation of PI3K has been shown to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in tumor cells, whereas inactivation of mTOR has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. Temozolomide (TMZ, Temodar®) is an orally administered alkylating agent with activity against malignant gliomas. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the following indications: 1) treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients when given concomitantly with radiotherapy and then as maintenance treatment; 2) refractory anaplastic astrocytoma (AA), ie, patients who have experienced disease progression on a drug regimen containing nitrosourea and procarbazine. Temozolomide is commonly used in the treatment of other anaplastic gliomas (AG) including oligodendroglial tumors and mixed gliomas.
NCT00926068
A prospective, double blind, randomized, placebo controlled, outpatient, parallel group comparison trial to assess the safety and efficacy of HO/03/03 10µg versus Placebo, applied topically once daily for up to 14 weeks in at least 196 subjects diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus and having a single target non-healing Plantar Neuropathic Diabetic Foot Ulcer.
NCT00530270
People with sickle cell disease (SCD) may develop acute chest syndrome (ACS), which is a common and serious lung condition that usually requires hospitalization. Dexamethasone is a medication that may decrease hospitalization time for people with ACS, but it may also bring about new sickle cell pain. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of a dexamethasone regimen that includes a gradual dose reduction at decreasing hospitalization and recovery time in people with SCD and ACS.
NCT00723554
A Phase IIIb, Multicenter, Open-Label Study of Patients With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Treated With Iloprost(Inhalation)Evaluating Safety and Inhalation Times When Converting From Power Disc-6 to Power Disc-15 With the I-neb® Adaptive Aerosol Delivery® System (I-neb® AAD®)
NCT00006708
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy is more effective with or without rituximab for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy with or without rituximab in treating patients who have relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
NCT00054405
Phase I trial to compare the effectiveness of interleukin-12 with or without interleukin-2 in treating young patients who have refractory or recurrent neuroblastoma. Biological therapies use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining interleukin-2 with interleukin-12 may kill more tumor cells.
NCT01105546
The study evaluates the efficacy and safety of a prophylactic treatment with recombinant activated FVII in reducing the frequency of joint bleeds and the development of joint damage in children with hemophilia A who develop high-titer inhibitors.
NCT00927186
The purpose of this study is to investigate how teriparatide or zoledronic acid affects the bone of postmenopausal osteoporotic women after 6 months of treatment as determined by a bone biopsy sample taken from the iliac crest (upper part of the pelvis). After completing 12 months of treatment all participants are eligible to participate in an additional 12-month open label extension.
NCT00973817
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of the use of ELAD in patients with diagnosed Acute On Chronic Hepatitis, including Acute Alcoholic Hepatitis.
NCT00467896
A Comparison of Safety and Inhalation Times of Ventavis (iloprost) Inhalation Solution delivered by I-Neb Utilizing Power Disc-6 and Power Disc-15 "Power 15 Study"
NCT00736398
This is an observational study to assess clinical outcomes in patients who undergo spinal fusion. Patients who are already scheduled for spinal fusion will enroll in the study. Information about prior therapies will be collected, and then patients will be followed to see how they do after spinal fusion. This study will help researchers better understand the natural course of patients who patients who undergo spinal fusion surgery.
NCT00316849
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of temsirolimus when given together with temozolomide and radiation therapy in treating patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme. Temsirolimus may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving temsirolimus together with temozolomide and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells.
