NCT00016601
The purpose of this study is to look at the level of depo-medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA or Depo-Provera) in the blood to see if is affected by certain anti-HIV drugs (nelfinavir \[NFV\], efavirenz \[EFV\], indinavir \[IDV\] in combination with ritonavir \[RTV\], and nevirapine \[NVP\]). This study will also look at the levels of these anti-HIV drugs to see if they are affected by DMPA. DMPA is a hormonal birth control method that is given as an injection. It is not known if taking DMPA together with anti-HIV drugs changes the amount of DMPA and/or the amount of anti-HIV drugs in the blood. If higher levels of DMPA occur, side effects may increase. If lower levels of anti-HIV drugs occur, the drugs may become less effective against HIV. This study will look at the levels of anti-HIV drugs and DMPA in the blood when these medications are used together.
NCT00085501
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as cetuximab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining more than one chemotherapy drug with a monoclonal antibody may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether cetuximab is more effective when given at the same time as chemotherapy or following chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving cetuximab at the same time as combination chemotherapy works compared to giving cetuximab after combination chemotherapy in treating patients with stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00090961
RATIONALE: Pulmonary rehabilitation education and exercise training may improve physical function and quality of life in patients who are receiving treatment for lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying pulmonary rehabilitation education and exercise training to see how well they work compared to exercise training alone in improving physical function and quality of life in patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy for locally advanced lung cancer.
NCT00265785
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as pemetrexed disodium, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Pemetrexed disodium may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well pemetrexed disodium works in treating patients with stage III or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT01047072
The purpose of the study is to see how well reduced intensity conditioning followed by a stem cell transplant from a donor (allogeneic) works in treating patients with severe systemic sclerosis. In an allogeneic stem cell transplant procedure, stem cells are taken from a healthy donor and transplanted into the patient. Stem cells can be donated by a family member or an unrelated donor who is a complete tissue type match.
NCT00002920
RATIONALE: It is not yet known whether medroxyprogesterone is effective in preventing endometrial disorder in patients with breast cancer who are taking tamoxifen. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to study the effectiveness of medroxyprogesterone in preventing endometrial disorder in postmenopausal women who have ductal carcinoma in situ, lobular carcinoma in situ, Paget's disease of the nipple, stage I breast cancer, or stage II breast cancer and who are taking tamoxifen.
NCT00000883
The purpose of this study is to see if there are any changes in sugar and fat levels in the blood when patients take anti-HIV therapy for many years. Another goal is to test memory and mental concentrations to determine if anti-HIV drugs protect the brain from damage caused by HIV. (The purpose of this study has been changed from the original version.) HIV-infected patients with low CD4 cell counts are at risk for getting opportunistic (AIDS-related) infections. CD4 cells are cells of the immune system that help fight infection. Anti-HIV therapy may increase CD4 counts, which may lead to a decrease in AIDS-related infections. Problems that anti-HIV therapy is associated with include metabolic problems, neurologic problems, abnormal opportunistic infections, and cancer. Patients in ACTG 362 have been exposed to anti-HIV therapy longer than any other large group in the ACTG. These patients appear to benefit from their therapy, but also suffer problems from it. Observation of these patients should provide more information about long-term anti-HIV treatment and may detect unexpected problems. (This study as been changed. More information about the reasons for conducting this study has been added.)
NCT00447187
This was a pivotal trial to determine whether LX201 reduces the likelihood of a graft rejection episode following corneal transplantation in patients at high immunological risk for rejection.
NCT00865345
The purpose of this study is to assess the performance of the subcutaneous glucose sensor over an extended sensor life. The sensor is currently approved for 3 days of use and this study will examine sensor safety and accuracy when used for six days. This study will also test sensor safety and accuracy when inserted in an alternate body location (buttock area in addition to abdomen area). The study hypothesis is that the sensor performance will not greatly diminish when used for six days, or in an alternate insertion area.
NCT00476931
The purpose of the study is to study the clinical effects of the investigational drug, SB-509 versus placebo in patients with diabetic neuropathy.
NCT00734591
In studies of Exubera in persons with diabetes, lung cancer occurred in a few more people who were taking Exubera than in people who were taking other diabetes medicines. All subjects diagnosed with lung cancer had a history of smoking and the number of lung cancer cases observed fell within the expected range based on population-based data. There is currently not enough information to determine if any of the observed lung cancer cases were related to Exubera use, therefore, the study is being conducted to further investigate whether Exubera use makes the appearance of lung cancer more likely.
NCT00404014
The primary objective is to compare mild cognitive impairment in the AL-208 group with the placebo group at 14 + - 3 days after CABG surgery
NCT00226759
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is an important stabilizer of the knee. Orthopedic surgeons replace the torn ligament during ACL reconstruction surgery. Surgical trauma initiates an acute inflammatory response, including swelling and pain, that leads to restricted joint motion and loss of function. OMS103HP was designed to deliver targeted therapeutic agents directly to the surgical site during the arthroscopic procedure to inhibit inflammation and pain before they can begin. The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness and safety of OMS103HP in improving knee function following ACL reconstruction. Secondary benefits being evaluated include reduced postoperative pain, improvement in knee range of motion and earlier return to work.
NCT01130246
The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of short-term A-002 treatment on morbidity and mortality when added to atorvastatin and standard of care in subjects with an acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
NCT01078584
The in-MAU-tion study is conducted to determine the percentage of hypertensive participants with or without diabetes reaching CHEP (Canadian Hypertension Education Program) defined blood pressure targets. Additionally, the study assesses change in renal function (microalbuminuria, estimated glomerular filtration rate) in hypertensive participants treated with trandolapril (Mavik®) and examines patient satisfaction with trandolapril (Mavik®) therapy.
NCT00889863
This two-part study assessed the sustained efficacy of canakinumab in the double-blind Part II and the ability to taper steroids in the open label Part I.
NCT01334853
The rationale for conducting this study is to explore potential clinical and peripheral biomarkers in subjects requiring daily medium to high dose inhaled corticosteroids for persistent asthma
NCT00169559
An eight week comparison of the investigational drug GW590735, placebo, and the marketed drug fenofibrate intended to increase the levels of "good cholesterol" and decrease levels of "bad cholesterol" in healthy patients with low levels of good cholesterol and high levels of bad cholesterol.
NCT00555321
The purpose of this clinical research study is to evaluate the effects of belatacept, relative to tacrolimus, on the incidence of rejection, graft loss and death in subjects receiving a liver transplant
NCT00488345
To determine the pharmacokinetic profile and to evaluate the safety and tolerability of ascending multiple doses of tigecycline in patients aged 8 to 11 years with selected serious infections; complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAI), complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSI), or community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).
