NCT00657137
This study will compare the anti-tumor efficacy of apricoxib and lapatinib/capecitabine with placebo and lapatinib/capecitabine as measured by time to disease progression and evaluate urinary PGE-M measurements or baseline COX-2 expression in tumor tissue by IHC as a surrogate selection criterion for patients who will benefit from future treatment with apricoxib.
NCT00391872
Ticagrelor is a new, reversible binding, anti-platelet medication. Anti-platelet medications work to prevent the formation of blood clots. Ticagrelor is being developed as a treatment for patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). ACS is a term that is used to describe both heart attacks in progress or the imminent threat of a heart attack. ACS is usually caused by the formation of a blood clot in an artery that partially or totally blocks the blood supply to a portion of the heart muscle. Ticagrelor will be compared with clopidogrel to determine which drug, when either is used in conjunction with aspirin, is better at reducing deaths from vascular causes, future heart attacks and/or strokes in patients with ACS.
NCT00793819
Silodosin is compared to placebo to determine if it is safe and effective for the treatment of nighttime urination (nocturia) in men with BPH
NCT00440947
This study was designed to test the efficacy, safety, tolerability and durability of the antiviral response between atazanavir (ATV) + ritonavir (/r) + abacavir/lamivudine(ABC/3TC) Fixed dose combination (FDC) each administered once daily (QD) for 36 weeks followed by randomization to either a simplification regimen of ATV or continuation of ATV +/r for an additional 48 weeks, each in combination with ABC/3TC in antiretroviral (ART)-naive, HIV-1 infected, HLA-B\*5701 negative subjects. All subjects who complete the 84-week study will be eligible to enter the treatment extension phase and continue for an additional 60 weeks. The purpose of this extension is to obtain longer term treatment data in subjects who have completed the 84-week study.
NCT00028288
The purpose of the study is to evaluate an investigational medication to treat chronic persistent asthma. The research is being conducted at up to 22 clinical research sites in the US and is open to both men and women ages 18 to 70 years old. Participants in the study will have a number of visits to a research site over a 10-month period. All study-related care and medication is provided to qualified participants at no cost: this includes all visits, examinations and laboratory work.
NCT00024544
The purpose of the study is to evaluate an investigational medication to treat chronic asthma. The research is being conducted at 20 clinical research sites in the US and is open to both men and women ages 18 to 70 years. Participants in the study will have a number of visits to a research site over an 8-month period. All study-related care and medication is provided to qualified participants at no cost. This includes all visits, examinations and laboratory work.
NCT00517595
The primary objective is to determine the progression free survival with pemetrexed, and gemcitabine plus bevacizumab as first-line chemotherapy in elderly patients with Stage IIIB/IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The secondary objectives are to determine the overall response rate; overall survival; chemotherapy induced toxicity profile of this combination; time to progression; and patient reported symptom burden.
NCT00665535
The purpose of the study is to determine the optimal frequency of repositioning nursing facility residents with limited mobility who are cared for on a high density foam mattress in order to prevent bed sores. It is hypothesized that participants at moderate risk (Braden Scale Scores 13-14) who are turned every 3 or 4 hours and participants at high risk (Braden Scores 10-12) turned every 3 or 4 hours will not have a higher incidence of ulcers than those residents turned every 2 hours.
NCT00706862
The purpose of the study is to determine whether the combination of talactoferrin, carboplatin and paclitaxel improves progression free survival and overall survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer compared to the combination of paclitaxel and carboplatin alone
NCT00211276
The goal of this clinical research study is to find out if the study drug, ONTAK (denileukin diftitox), can shrink or slow the growth of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) in patients whose disease has not responded to prior treatments, or has relapsed after an initial response to prior treatments. The safety of treatment with ONTAK will also be studied. The hypothesis is that patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell NHL and mild to moderate myelosuppression treated with ONTAK at a new dosing regimen will respond sufficiently to warrant further study.
NCT00289523
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential early EEG predictors of an individual's response to treatment with antidepressant medications. Objectives: * Prospectively confirm accuracy of current EEG biomarker algorithm * Determine preferred clinical intervention for subjects with negative indicator * Identify predictors of worsening suicide ideation
NCT00267722
The purpose of the study is to evaluate an intravenous (by injection) investigational medication to treat moderate to severe inflammatory, nonstricturing, nonpenetrating Crohn's disease. The research is being conducted at up to 5 clinical research sites in the US and Europe and is open to both men and women ages 18 to 70 years old. Participants in the study will have a number of visits to a research site up to 17 months. All study-related care and medication is provided to qualified participants at no cost: this includes all visits, examinations and laboratory work. Visilizumab is a humanized antibody (antibodies are proteins that are normally made by the immune system to help defend the body from infections and other foreign substances) that is directed against T cells. Visilizumab selectively attacks problematic T cells and, in doing so, it may prevent them from causing inflammation. Visilizumab has also been observed to have a suppressive effect on the body's immune system (system in the body that reacts to foreign or occasionally one's own proteins).
NCT00605761
Subject with Cystic Fibrosis have increased clearance of many drugs. Based on pre-clinical data SB656933 was found to have low clearance and high bio-availability. This study will characterize the PK profile of a single dose of SB656933 in patients with Cystic Fibrosis. There will be two groups of subjects. The first group of subjects will receive a single dose of 50mg SB-656933. The second group of subjects will receive a single dose of up to 300 mg SB-656933. Subjects will first be screened for eligibility related to cystic fibrosis history. Safety evaluations will be undertaken and plasma samples for pharmacokinetic analysis will be collected. Additional blood samples will be taken for the pharmacodynamic endpoints CD11b and GAFS. Subjects are not required to stay overnight after their 12 hour PK sample collection on Day 1, although they may do so if they wish. On Day 2 and 3, they will return for collection of additional safety measurements, and further plasma and blood samples will be taken for 24 and 48 h pharmacokinetics and 24h CD11b/GAFS measurements, respectively. A follow up visit (Visit 3) will be made 4-7 days after the treatment period. Subjects will be enrolled in the study for approximately 3to 7 weeks (from screening to follow-up).
