NCT01852292
Phase II Study of efficacy and safety of buparlisib (BKM120) plus paclitaxel versus placebo plus paclitaxel in recurrent or metastatic Head and Neck cancer previously pre-treated with a platinum therapy. The primary endpoint was PFS and the key secondary endpoint was Overall Survival.
NCT00040443
Glutamate is fundamentally involved in learning and memory. Memory loss associated with mild cognitive impairment may be due to loss of glutamate receptors in the aging brain. There is evidence CX516 enhances brain activity by specifically targeting remaining glutamate receptors in the affected portions of the brain. This study will test the safety and efficacy of CX516 in the symptomatic treatment of participants with mild cognitive impairment.
NCT02427061
Sexual violence (SV) and adolescent relationship abuse (ARA) are prevalent among adolescents and associated with poor health. Global health organizations highlight engaging men and boys in preventing violence against women as a potentially impactful public health strategy. This study aims to test, via a two arm cluster randomized controlled trial, a "gender transformative" SV/ARA perpetration prevention program among African American adolescent males ages 13-19 (target is high school age) implemented in a community-based setting. "Gender transformative" refers to a theory- and evidence-based approach to alter gender norms that foster SV/ARA while promoting bystander intervention (i.e., giving boys skills to interrupt abusive behaviors they witness among peers) to reduce SV/ARA perpetration. As the acceptance of SV and involvement in unhealthy sexual behaviors are associated with SV/ARA perpetration, this program integrates analysis of social norms that condone violence against women, sexual health promotion, and skills in bystander intervention -- an approach that has been implemented in multiple non-U.S. settings among young adult males with reductions in violence, development of more equitable gender attitudes, and less risky sexual behaviors. This will be the first test of such a gender transformative program among adolescent males in the U.S. Via a 2-arm cluster-randomized trial in youth-serving agencies (16 clusters, N=840 adolescent males ages 14-19), this study will assess the effectiveness of "Manhood 2.0" (proposed name for this gender transformative program) compared to a job skills curriculum. Three months after the end of the program (Time 2), compared to controls, youth will demonstrate increased positive bystander intervention behaviors (secondary outcome). Intermediate outcomes are: condom use self-efficacy; contraception use attitudes; recognition of abusive behaviors; gender-equitable attitudes; and intentions to intervene with peers. Nine months after intervention completion (Time 3), youth will report less perpetration of SV and ARA toward females (Primary Outcome) compared to controls. This study will provide urgently needed information about the effectiveness of a gender transformative program that combines healthy sexuality skills, gender norms change, and bystander skills to interrupt peers' disrespectful and harmful behaviors to reduce SV/ARA perpetration among adolescent males.
NCT01836549
This molecular biology and phase II trial studies how well imetelstat sodium works in treating younger patients with recurrent or refractory brain tumors. Imetelstat sodium may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
NCT02142283
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the hypothesis that Trevo thrombectomy plus medical management leads to superior clinical outcomes at 90 days as compared to medical management alone in appropriately selected subjects experiencing an acute ischemic stroke when treatment is initiated within 6-24 hours after last seen well.
NCT00369824
Infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) has been clearly established as the central cause of cervical cancer. Vaccination of pre-teens and adolescents, ideally before sexual debut and thus before exposure to oncogenic HPV, is a rational strategy for prevention of cervical cancer, and so HPV vaccination could complement the existing pre-adolescent/adolescents platform. Therefore, this Phase 3b study is designed to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of co-administering Boostrix and/or Menactra with GSK Biologicals' HPV vaccine (580299) as compared to the administration of any of the vaccines alone. The Protocol Posting has been updated in order to comply with the FDA Amendment Act, Sep 2007.
NCT02421822
The purpose of this study is to test the Fitwits office tool and games with 6-9 year old children and their parents to: 1) assist parent-child dyad with correct BMI status identification and understanding; 2) address nutrition, portion size, and activity cues; and, 3) track BMI trajectory over 12-month period.
NCT02067858
The goals of this clinical research are to evaluate the outcomes and tumor response for early stage non-small lung cancer (NSCLC) patients undergoing Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) using four dimensional (4D) Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT), Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), Real-Time Position Management (RPM™) and body immobilization system (see figure 1). Specifically, the effect of image-guided SBRT treatment on clinical tumor response rate, local control and progression-free survival will be studied. This study will examine target volumes and relevant margins determined by an assessment using 4D PET and repeated 4D CT. These data will allow us to evaluate and determine the impact of the body immobilization system on the planning target volume (PTV) margins, patient's breathing pattern, target motion, and inter-treatment targets shifts.
NCT00520741
The objective of this historical-controlled trial is to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of conversion to Lacosamide monotherapy in subjects with Partial-onset Seizures who are withdrawn from 1 to 2 marketed antiepileptic drugs.
NCT00527735
The purpose of the study is to determine whether ipilimumab given with paclitaxel/carboplatin has clinical benefit when compared with paclitaxel/carboplatin alone in patients with previously untreated lung cancer.
NCT01673854
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety profile of vemurafenib, 960 mg, administered for 6 weeks, followed by ipilimumab monotherapy in patients with BRAF V600 mutated advanced/metastatic melanoma.
NCT00668148
This multicenter study will enroll approximately 185 participants with metastatic or advanced sarcoma, to assess the effectiveness and safety of IMC-A12 monotherapy for this indication. Participants will be stratified into five tiers according to diagnosis: 1. Ewing's sarcoma/peripheral neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) 2. rhabdomyosarcoma 3. leiomyosarcoma 4. adipocytic sarcoma 5. synovial sarcoma. A total of 85 participants will be enrolled initially, 17 in each tier. Participants will receive single agent IMC-A12 every 2 weeks. A treatment cycle will be defined as 6 weeks, with radiological evaluation at every cycle. Safety and response in the initial 17 participants in each tier will be used to determine whether to extend enrollment to the target total of 37 participants per tier.

NCT02720510
This was a multicenter, open-label, randomized phase II study which were to enroll 112 newly diagnosed symptomatic multiple myeloma patients in a 1:1 fashion. Patients were to enroll at approximately 20 centers in the United States. Patients were to undergo stem cell mobilization with plerixafor plus Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF), according to investigator discretion, after 4 cycles of induction therapy. Study treatment interruption for stem cell collection were not to exceed 30 days. All patients were to receive one additional cycle of study treatment after stem cell collection and then proceed to autologous transplant using melphalan 200mg/m2(140mg/m2 for patients \> 70 years), as conditioning. After Autologus Stem Cell Transplant( ASCT), patients still on study were to initiate maintenance therapy within the 60-120 day period following ASCT, provided they have adequate blood count and clinical recovery. Patients in the RVD arm were to initiate maintenance therapy with lenalidomide alone, and patients in RVD-panobinostat arm were to receive lenalidomide + panobinostat maintenance. Lenalidomide were to be dosed orally at 10mg/day continuously in both arms, increasing to 15mg/day after the first 84 day cycle. Panobinostat were to be dosed at 10mg three times a week, every other week. Total planned duration of maintenance therapy were to be 3 years. Patients were to remain on study treatment until they complete the maintenance phase, or until they experience disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, or at the discretion of the Investigator.
