NCT00294645
The purpose of the study is to compare remote pacemaker follow-up to current standard of care follow-up. The study will compare the rate of first diagnosis of clinically actionable events between patients who utilize the Medtronic Carelink® Network (Remote arm) versus patients who are followed via routine office visits augmented by transtelephonic monitoring (TTM)(Control arm).
NCT00083135
RATIONALE: Giving iodine I 131 metaiodobenzylguanidine (\^131I-MIBG) may kill neuroblastoma cells by delivering radiation directly to the tumor. A stem cell transplant using the patient's stem cells may be able to replace blood-forming cells destroyed by radiation therapy. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of a double infusion of \^131I-MIBG followed by autologous stem cell transplantation in treating patients with refractory neuroblastoma.
NCT00715637
Amonafide is a DNA intercalating agent and inhibitor of topoisomerase II that has been extensively studied in patients with malignant solid tumors. Amonafide has also been studied in patients with AML. The purpose of this study is to assess the relative efficacy and safety of amonafide in combination with cytarabine compared to daunorubicin with cytarabine in subjects with documented secondary AML.
NCT00077974
To assess the safety and efficacy of SU011248 in patients with metastatic, refractory renal cell carcinoma
NCT00807937
The purpose of this research study is to determine whether AstraZeneca's drug AZD7325 is safe and effective in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.
NCT00031122
The purpose of this study is to describe the genetic contribution to the neural tube defects spina bifida (SB) and anencephaly (A), which includes identifying patients, defining the roles of certain genes, and studying gene-environment interactions.
NCT00573508
Evaluate the effect of VESIcare® on symptom bother for subjects with OAB
NCT00053638
This is a 48-week study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a new tablet formulation containing two FDA-approved drugs in HIV-infected patients who have not received prior therapy. This tablet will be taken with one of two FDA-approved drugs as a once-daily regimen. Study physicians will evaluate subjects to determine if they have certain medical conditions, laboratory test values, medication use, or drug allergies that would exclude them from the study.
NCT00085813
This study was designed to determine how effective and safe Ispinesib is in treating locally advanced or metastatic Non-small Cell Lung cancer in patients who have received a platinum-based chemotherapy and whose disease continues to progress. Treatment involves a 1-hr treatment given intravenously (IV), repeated once every 21 days. A patient may continue treatment as long as they are benefiting from the treatment. Blood samples will be taken at specific times over 24 hr period to measure the amount of drug in your body at specific times after the drug is given. Blood samples will also be taken for routine lab tests such as complete blood counts and clinical chemistries. Physical exams will be performed before each treatment.
NCT00002809
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage cancer cells. Combining chemotherapy and radiation therapy together with bone marrow transplant may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor together with cyclophosphamide and total-body irradiation works in treating patients with hematologic cancer.
NCT00002810
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of plasma cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Having a peripheral stem cell transplant to replace the blood-forming cells destroyed by chemotherapy, allows higher doses of chemotherapy to be given so that more plasma cells are killed. By reducing the number of plasma cells, the disease may progress more slowly. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving high-dose melphalan together with peripheral stem cell transplant works in treating patients with primary amyloidosis or amyloidosis associated with multiple myeloma.
NCT00546507
The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TDS-943 (topical diclofenac spray) compared to oral celecoxib and placebo in subjects with osteoarthritis of the knee. The main hypotheses are that TDS-943 will be better than placebo and no worse than celecoxib.
NCT00868660
Healthy Normal Single Ascending Dose and Crohn's patient Multiple Ascending Dose
NCT00357851
Pancreatitis is caused by an acute injury on the pancreas. This illness is associated with abdominal pain, vomiting or even fever. We have recently reported a high rate of acute pancreatitis developing in children who undergo posterior spinal fusion for scoliosis (to correct spinal curve). We showed that the amount of blood loss during the surgery is related to the incidence of pancreatitis. In addition, some markers that monitor tissue injury are elevated after the surgery and significantly higher in the patients who develop acute pancreatitis later. We propose that if blood loss and tissue injury could be reduced, then the incidence of pancreatits may be less in these children. Therefore we plan to use a drug Aprotinin to just do that. Aprotinin has been used to reduce blood loss in patients undergoing posterior spinal surgery, the same population we propose to study. If it turns out that Aprotinin can reduce blood loss or/and the damage to the pancreas, thus pancreatitis, it will diminish the pain and discomfort, and shorten hospital stay in these children. The results from this study will guide medical care in these children in the future.
NCT00323310
The purpose of this study was to assess the safety and enhancing properties of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent MultiHance in children aged 2 to 17 years having central nervous system (CNS) disorders.
NCT00424151
This study is designed to treat patients with Graves' disease with Rituximab in an attempt to prevent or reverse the physically deforming and debilitating consequences of this disease.
NCT00051259
The purpose of this trial is to study the effects of two depression medications on sexual functioning.
NCT00537043
Carvedilol controlled release is a marketed drug to treat high blood pressure. This study is to compare carvedilol controlled release to carvedilol controlled release plus lisinopril (fixed-dose combination) after repeat dosing in patients with high blood pressure. This is to make sure that when carvedilol controlled release is given with lisinopril it acts the same in the body as when given alone. The study will also assess the safety and tolerability of the fixed-dose combination.
NCT00428597
This study randomized patients with advanced pancreatic islet cell tumors to receive either sunitinib or placebo. Patients who were randomized to sunitinib received 37.5 mg of sunitinib daily, those randomized to placebo received a tablet that looked similar but had no active drug. Neither the patient or the doctor knew whether the patient was receiving sunitinib or placebo. Patients were followed to determine the status and size of their tumors, survival, quality of life and safety of the drug. The study was designed to detect a 50% improvement in median PFS\[Progression Free Survival\] with 90% power and was to enroll 340 subjects. An interim analysis was planned when 130 events had occurred, and the final analysis was to be conducted when 260 events had occurred. Study A6181111 was stopped early during the enrollment period because of a clear and clinically meaningful improvement in efficacy for the sunitinib treatment arm as recommended by the DMC \[Data Monitoring Committee\]. The actual number of subjects enrolled was 171 and the actual number of PFS events recorded was 81 PFS events. The decision to terminate the study was not based on safety concerns related to sunitinib administration.
