NCT00471497
In this study, the efficacy and safety of two nilotinib doses, 300 mg twice daily and 400 mg twice daily, were compared with imatinib 400 mg once daily in newly diagnosed patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia in the chronic phase (CML-CP). An extension protocol was included in this study design to allow patients who did not show sufficient response to their assigned treatments the opportunity to receive imatinib 400 mg BID (option available until protocol amendment 7) or nilotinib 400 mg BID, using an abbreviated safety and efficacy assessment schedule.
NCT00470574
RATIONALE: Vaccines may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. Giving vaccine therapy together with QS21 may cause a stronger immune response and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying the side effects and how well giving vaccine therapy together with QS21 works in treating patients with metastatic breast cancer.
NCT00835289
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is currently the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. Unlike the other leading causes of death, no medical therapies currently available improve the course of disease or affect survival in COPD. Recent investigations suggest that endothelial dysfunction and chronic inflammation is fundamental to COPD. Fish oil intake improves endothelial dysfunction and lowers levels of inflammatory intermediaries which may be important in the development of COPD. The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Fish Oil (COD-Fish) Pilot Trial will enroll 40-45 participants with COPD. These participants will be randomized to receive omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid supplementation (PUFA) or placebo (containing corn oil). All participants will perform a number of noninvasive tests (including flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and pulmonary function testing) at study entry as well as every two months for a total of six months. Thirty participants who agree to it will undergo a separate procedure to collect cells from inside a forearm vein for analysis to be compared to 30 controls. The main purpose of this trial is to examine the effect of PUFA on endothelial function as measured by change in FMD in patients with COPD. We hypothesize that in subjects with COPD, treatment with PUFA will increase FMD.
NCT01828034
The purpose of this study is to test an investigational combination of drugs for bile duct or gallbladder cancers. Gemcitabine and cisplatin are two forms of chemotherapy commonly used in combination to treat bile duct and gallbladder cancers. The investigators are looking to improve treatment results. They will attempt to do so by adding the drug MEK162 to the treatment plan. MEK162 acts by blocking a protein called MEK 1/2 which helps cancer cells grow and divide. This study will help answer the question of whether MEK162 is a helpful drug in patients with bile duct or gallbladder cancers when given with gemcitabine and cisplatin.
NCT02110134
The purpose of this study is to compare a hydroquinone skin care regimen alone to a combination of Revlite Laser treatment with a hydroquinone skin care regimen for the treatment of melasma.
NCT04138485
This randomized, multicenter, double-blind (DB), placebo controlled, phase 2 study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of IgPro10. The DB Treatment Period will be followed by a 24-week Open-label (OL) Treatment Period. Eligible subjects will be randomized at Baseline in a 2:1 ratio of treatment IgPro10 or placebo in the DB Treatment Period. All subjects who enter OL Treatment Period will receive IgPro10.
NCT03162822
Caregivers and their child are being asked to participate because the investigators are interested in typical caregiver-child interactions and health behaviors. In particular, the investigators are interested in different ways that caregivers react to and understand their young children's behavior, and their health behaviors.
NCT01775735
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of occipital nerve stimulation (ONS) using the Boston Scientific Corporation (BSC) Precision™ System in the management of intractable chronic migraine, when used in conjunction with anti-migraine medications.
NCT03163082
The investigators are interested in typical couple interactions and health behaviors. In particular, the investigators are interested in different ways that each partner in a coupled relationship reacts to and understand each other's behavior, and in their health behaviors.
NCT01363882
Use of noninvasive ventilation (NIV, also known colloquially as "Bipap") has been associated in some studies with improvement in pulmonary function, quality of life and survival. NIV is typically applied during sleep, and without the benefit of sleep study to determine the optimal settings. The investigators have shown that when NIV is used in this fashion, failure of nocturnal oxygenation and ventilation is prominent. This study is randomizing patients to standard application of NIV vs application guided by use of sleep study data to determine the effect of titrated therapy on pulmonary function, quality of life and survival.
NCT01688050
The TRANSFIX study is a clinical trial approved by US FDA to study the safety and effectiveness of the Zenith® TX2® Low Profile Endovascular Graft for treatment of Blunt Thoracic Aortic Injury.
NCT00071032
The purpose of this study is to compare liberal red blood cell transfusion therapy with restrictive red blood cell transfusion therapy in surgical patients with cardiovascular disease or risk factors.
NCT01446913
The goal of this study is to develop a novel study design to safely and ethically conduct a long-term randomized controlled trial among patients at high risk for both sleep apnea and cardiovascular events that will examine whether effective positive airway pressure(PAP) therapy reduces cardiovascular risk. Patients with transient ischemic attack(TIA) or stroke have a high prevalence of sleep apnea(60-80%), and they are at high risk of cardiovascular events(myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, recurrent stroke, and cardiovascular death)in the first year post event, despite current prevent strategies. Therefore, the treatment of sleep apnea may represent a novel therapeutic target to reduce cardiovascular outcomes in this high risk population.
NCT03032380
The primary objective of this study is to compare all-cause mortality at Day 14 in participants receiving cefiderocol with participants receiving the comparator, meropenem, in adults with hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP), ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP), or healthcare-associated bacterial pneumonia (HCABP) caused by Gram-negative pathogens.
NCT00031083
In this study an investigational replication-defective, recombinant adenovirus expressing the interferon-beta gene (BG00001) will be directly injected into tumors, in patients with recurrent Grade III and Grade IV Gliomas, in order to deliver the hIFN-beta gene. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and any harmful effects of injection of BG00001 into brain tumors. Also, this study will help determine whether the virus carrying the beta interferon gene will enter brain tumor cells and cause the cancer cells to die. This study will require one hospital admission for the actual procedure of drug administration. All other visits will be conducted on an out-patient basis
NCT01119105
This is a Phase II, multi-center, randomized, double-blind study comparing the safety and efficacy of two doses of BC-3781 versus vancomycin in patients with acute bacterial skin and skin structure infection.
NCT01036529
The EVIDENCE trial is a randomized controlled trial comparing the therapeutic effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the Precision® Spinal Cord Stimulation with that of reoperation as a treatment of pain in patients with Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS). FBSS is defined as persistent or recurrent pain following one or more lumbosacral spine surgical procedures. Surgical procedures that can result in FBSS can be categorized as either decompression or decompression followed by fusion with or without instrumentation. The pain of FBSS is categorized as neuropathic, which involves pathological nerve activity and is commonly characterized by patients as shooting or burning and/or nociceptive, which signals actual or impending tissue damage or inflammation.
NCT04268069
Evaluation of safety and efficacy of PL9643 Ophthalmic Solution compared to placebo for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of dry eye.
NCT01888874
Participants suffering from active rheumatoid arthritis despite continued treatment with methotrexate were evaluated for improvement of disease activity (efficacy) when taking GLPG0634 (3 different doses - 50 milligram \[mg\], 100 mg and 200 mg daily -, each evaluated as once daily \[QD\] and twice daily \[BID\] regimen) or matching placebo for 24 weeks. •During the course of the study, patients were also examined for any side effects that could occur (safety and tolerability), and the amount of GLPG0634 present in the blood (Pharmacokinetics) as well as the effects of GLPG0634 on disease- and mechanism of action-related parameters in the blood (Pharmacodynamics) were determined. Also, the effects of different doses and dose regiments of GLPG0634 administration on participants' disability, fatigue, and quality of life were evaluated.
NCT04628533
This online pilot weight loss study will explore the feasibility of recruiting individuals to an established online behavioral weight loss program of varying duration (4 months vs. 6 months), We will compare 6-month weight losses between the two programs of shorter and longer duration, respectively, and obtain data to characterize weight maintenance experiences and retention. Both groups will receive the same intervention; the only difference is the number of weeks the group will meet. Both groups will complete follow ups at 2, 4, 6, and 12 months (12 months after the study begins).
