NCT00004867
RATIONALE: Imaging procedures such as positron emission tomography may improve the ability to determine the stage of esophageal cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well fludeoxyglucose F 18 positron emission tomography determines tumor stage in patients with esophageal cancer.
NCT02107196
Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterised by chronic or recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort and diarrhoea. This trial aims at the evaluation of the efficacy and safety of oral ibodutant 10 mg once daily as compared to placebo in women with IBS-D over a 12-week treatment period.
NCT00036478
The purpose of this study is to see if magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can be used to detect damage to the mitochondria in HIV-infected patients taking nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) drugs. HIV-infected patients taking NRTI drugs may have an increase in a chemical in their blood called lactate. High lactate levels may damage the energy source of the cell (mitochondria). Damage to mitochondria may cause lactic acidosis, liver failure, and other problems. It is important to find effective ways to see if the mitochondria of HIV-infected patients have been damaged. This study will see if MRS can be used to determine mitochondrial damage.
NCT00108914
The purpose of this study is to determine if the investigational drug is effective and safe in children with perennial allergic rhinitis.
NCT00516139
This study is being conducted to determine the safety and tolerability of lamotrigine (LTG) in elderly patients with epilepsy. This study will be carried out using an extended-release formulation of lamotrigine (LTG-XR) that will allow once-a-day dosing.
NCT00580619
The investigators propose to test the hypothesis that the sympathetic nervous system contributes to the cardiovascular and inflammatory abnormalities present in the chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and, in particular in the subset of patients characterized by postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS). CFS and POTS are seen mostly in otherwise normal young women, and are the cause of significant disability. A substantial proportion of patients referred for evaluation of POTS met diagnostic criteria for CFS and, conversely, a subset of patients referred for treatment for CFS have POTS. The investigators hypothesize that sympathetic activation underlies the pathophysiology of patients in whom CFS and POTS overlap (CFS-P).
NCT01808131
This study will assess the serum uric acid lowering effects and safety of lesinurad in combination with allopurinol over a long-term timeframe.
NCT00268216
The purpose of this study is to see if fluticasone 500mcg/salmeterol 50mcg can improve the survival of subjects with COPD and also assess the long term safety profile of this drug.
NCT00082940
RATIONALE: Biological therapies, such as denileukin diftitox, may interfere with the growth of cancer cells and slow the growth of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well denileukin diftitox works in treating patients with fludarabine-refractory B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
NCT00197288
The purpose of this study is to compare two licensed influenza vaccines (Fluzone and Fluarix) in terms of the immune response elicited and the safety/ any symptoms that may occur for up to six months after vaccination.
NCT00197262
Allergic rhinitis is an inflammatory disorder of the upper airway that occurs following allergen exposure. The focus of this study, seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR), is one type of allergic rhinitis that is triggered by the pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds. Commonly referred to as (hay fever), it is characterized by sneezing, nasal congestion and pruritus, rhinorrhea, and pruritic, watery, red eyes. The primary objective of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of GW685698X 100mcg once daily (QD) aqueous nasal spray with vehicle placebo nasal spray in adult and adolescent subjects (12 years of age and older) with seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR) caused by ragweed pollen.
NCT02014142
Determine efficacy of the latanoprost punctal plug. Effect of configuration of L-PPDS placement on efficacy will also be examined.
NCT02100475
This trial is conducted globally. The aim of the trial is to compare sequential addition of insulin aspart versus further dose increase with insulin degludec/liraglutide in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus, previously treated with insulin degludec/liraglutide and metformin and in need of further intensification. This is an extension to trial NN9068-3952, NCT01952145 (DUAL™ V).
NCT01205399
This study will enroll subjects who underwent a ventral hernia repair using the AlloMax Surgical Graft at least 9 months in the past. All subjects who underwent a ventral hernia repair using the AlloMax Surgical Graft at least 9 months in the past will be contacted and asked to take part in this clinical study. The consented subjects' medical records will be reviewed for evidence of any risk factors of hernia recurrence, procedure time, complications and any documented recurrences. The subjects will be asked to undergo a physical exam to rule out any recurrences that were not documented in the medical records.
NCT00108095
This study is looking at a range of doses of this NK-1 receptor antagonist drug, for both safety and effectiveness in prevention PONV
NCT00493818
This study is a first time in human, Phase I, open-label study to determine recommended doses and schedules, based on maximum tolerated doses and biologically active doses, for the AKT inhibitor GSK690693.
NCT02794467
The primary objective of the study is to assess the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of epelsiban compared with placebo in treatment of women with adenomyosis. This is a 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study with an interim futility analysis. Subjects will be randomized 1:1:1 to receive 75 milligrams (mg) of epelsiban three times daily (TID), 200 mg of epelsiban TID, or placebo TID. The study will be composed of three periods: screening, treatment, and follow-up and the total time a subject will be in the study will be approximately 6 months.
NCT00003966
RATIONALE: Giving defibrotide may be an effective treatment for liver damage that may result following peripheral stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying defibrotide to see how well it works in treating patients with severe liver disease after undergoing peripheral stem cell transplantation.
NCT00402714
This is a study to explore the use of a reduced intensity transplant conditioning regimen. A conditioning regimen is the treatment that is given to prepare a body for the new bone marrow that will be received from a donor. Reduced intensity conditioning uses lower doses of chemotherapy than conventional conditioning regimens. The use of lower doses of drugs and radiation cause fewer side effects. Reduced intensity regimens have been offered to older patients or patients at increased risk for transplant-related side effects and have been shown to be safe and effective. Reduced intensity conditioning regimens are now considered for many patients who are undergoing transplant.
NCT00869908
This study is conducted in Africa, Asia, South America and Europe. The aim of this observational study is to document the experience with the study insulins when used in routine clinical practice. After the physician's decision to start insulin treatment using NovoMix® 30, Levemir® or NovoRapid® (alone or combined), type 2 diabetics will be eligible to be included in this study at the physician's discretion
