NCT00319969
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the objective tumor response rate of amrubicin or standard topotecan therapy when administered as second-line therapy to ED-SCLC patients who have chemotherapy sensitive recurrent or progressive.
NCT00126776
The purpose of this study is to determine if a program of self management and case management reduces hospitalizations and urgent care visits for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
NCT00176982
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition resulting in hair loss and complete baldness (alopecia totalis). Published evidence says that it is mediated by T-lymphocytes. Plaquenil is an anti-inflammatory drug approved by the FDA for malaria, lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. It has an effect on T-lymphocyte mediated inflammation, making it a logical choice for a treatment trail for alopecia areata.
NCT00565539
Interleukin 29 (IL-29) is a substance that is produced in the body to help fight viral infections. The purpose of this study is to test the safety and antiviral effects of PEG-rIL-29 (a man-made form of IL-29) when it is given either by itself at different doses or in combination with the approved dose of ribavirin (an antiviral drug) to subjects with hepatitis C infection who have received no prior treatment for this disease or who have relapsed following previous treatment with PEGylated interferon alpha (PEG-IFN-α), or other form of IFN-α, and ribavirin.
NCT00630877
The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics (reliability, validity, and responsiveness) of a Flushing ASsessment Tool (FAST) in subjects receiving niacin extended-release (NER) plus aspirin (ASA) daily for 6 weeks. The FAST is a questionnaire that was developed to provide a detailed assessment of flushing symptoms and their impact in patients receiving niacin therapy. The effect of aspirin on flushing symptoms, as measured by the FAST, was also evaluated.
NCT00220766
The objective of this study is to determine if the safety and tolerability of Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human), 10% caprylate/chromatography (IGIV-C)purified is similar when infused at two different infusion rates. The primary objective is to compare the incidence and severity of all infusion related adverse events when IGIV-C, 10% is administered at a rate of 0.14 mL/kg/min compared to a rate of 0.08 mL/kg/min after a single daily infusion.
NCT00663416
Primary objective: To assess the neurological outcome in acute ischemic stroke patients treated with NTx™-265, when compared with patients given a placebo control. Secondary objective: To assess the safety and tolerability of NTx™-265 when given to acute ischemic stroke patients.
NCT00408421
The primary purpose of this study is to determine if duloxetine reduces pain severity in patients with osteoarthritis knee pain.
NCT00519142
The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate whether mitiglinide administered in combination with metformin is more effective than metformin alone in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) whose blood sugar is not well controlled taking metformin alone. This is a 24 week study which measures improvement in blood sugar after of treatment.
NCT00126724
The 13G01 clinical trial is a Phase I/II dose escalation study designed to be conducted in adults with inflammatory arthritis who have persistent moderate or severe swelling in one or more joints, without a disease severe enough to warrant a change in regimen for the next three months. The study will permit subjects who are concurrently on anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha antagonists. For subjects on disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), a stable regimen for inflammatory arthritis for the previous three months, with no changes in doses in the four weeks prior to screening will be required. The primary objectives are: 1. to evaluate the safety of intra-articular administration of tgAAC94 in subjects currently taking TNF-alpha antagonists, and 2. to evaluate the safety of repeat intra-articular administration of tgAAC94 (gene therapy vector).
NCT00786084
In 2006 this research group reported their initial findings of a multi-center prospective trial comparing primary repair and primary repair buttressed with a biologic mesh made from porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS). We were able to accrue 108 patients from 7/2002-3/2005 and followed each patient over 6 months and performed an UGI to check the durability of the repair and rule out a recurrence. The results suggested a significant benefit for the use of SIS mesh in the short-term, with the primary group having a 26% recurrence rate and the mesh group a 9% recurrence rate. While these results are encouraging, it is important to know what is the durability and the longer term benefits of the use of SIS mesh. For this reason we propose a follow-up of the original study patients with the same outcome measures (symptom questionnaire, SF-36, and UGI). This should give us a very good idea about the long-term success of laparoscopic PEH repair with primary and SIS mesh.
NCT00637338
PF-04603629 is being investigated for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Specifically, PF-04603629 is a protein that is a combination of exendin-4 (a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) mimetic currently marketed as Byetta®) fused to human transferrin (a naturally occuring protein) in order to increase the concentration of exendin-4 in the blood. The purpose of this study is to characterize the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of PF-04603629 following multiple escalating subcutaneous doses in adult subjects with T2DM.
NCT00134199
To evaluate the effect of 6-month administration of CP-945,598 on: * weight loss and waist circumference, * blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose * other biochemical variables like insulin, leptin, ghrelin, adiponectin, PAI 1, TNF-α and hsCRP * the relationship between the concentration of the drug on the blood and the above parameters * physical and psychosocial functioning, weight related symptoms, treatment satisfaction, appetite/hunger/satiety/craving and mood, anxiety, anhedonia and depression
NCT00729872
The purpose of this study is to verify the safety and tolerability of AG011 (genetically modified L. lactis that has been engineered to secrete human Interleukin-10), and to determine whether AG011 can successfully treat the symptoms of moderately active Ulcerative Colitis (UC).
NCT00445809
Some patients who undergo cardiovascular surgery requiring cardiopulmonary bypass will develop a kidney injury following their surgery. The purpose of this study is to take a blood sample from patients before they have this type of surgery and then at nine time points after their surgery to test their plasma for a biomarker called NGAL and compare the NGAL levels to their creatinine levels. We hypothesize that NGAL is an earlier marker for kidney injury than creatinine.
NCT00055263
The purposes of this study are to: * Test the safety of DN-101 in patients with advanced malignancies * Understand how fast the body absorbs, processes, and eliminates DN-101 * Determine the highest dose of DN-101 that is well tolerated by cancer patients * Learn how fast the body absorbs, processes, and eliminates DN-101 compared to the approved product
NCT00465725
Picoplatin is a new platinum-based chemotherapy drug that has been studied in a variety of cancers. Phase 1 and 2 studies have demonstrated that picoplatin may be effective in patients whose cancer returns or does not improve after treatment with chemotherapy. In these studies, picoplatin was administered intravenously. A capsule containing picoplatin has been formulated. This study will investigate the activity of the oral capsule in humans. Participants with advanced solid tumors will be enrolled.
NCT00105989
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of duloxetine compared with placebo in the prevention of depressive recurrences among patients with recurrent major depressive disorder.
NCT00964132
The purpose of this study is to determine whether NRX 194204 is effective in the treatment of advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
