NCT00091598
The primary objective is to determine the effect of ambrisentan on exercise capacity in subjects with PAH.
NCT00360815
Background. Long-term microvascular and neurologic complications cause major morbidity and mortality in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). We examined whether intensive treatment with the goal of maintaining blood glucose concentrations close to the normal range could decrease the frequency and severity of these complications. Methods. A total of 1441 patients with IDDM -- 726 with no retinopathy at base line (the primary-prevention cohort) and 715 with mild retinopathy (the secondary-intervention cohort) were randomly assigned to intensive therapy administered either with an external insulin pump or by three or more daily insulin injections and guided by frequent blood glucose monitoring or to conventional therapy with one or two daily insulin injections. The patients were followed for a mean of 6.5 years, and the appearance and progression of retinopathy and other complications were assessed regularly.
NCT00109681
The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether iloprost inhalation solution is safe in subjects with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and elevated pulmonary arterial pressure. The secondary purpose is to evaluate the effectiveness of this treatment in subjects with this disease.
NCT00556959
The purpose of this study is to determine whether CLONICEL® (clonidine HCl sustained release) is a safe and effective treatment for children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
NCT00787111
This open-label research study will continue to monitor the safety of fluoxetine in children after their completion of a previous double-blind placebo controlled clinical study, with fluoxetine. The study will also look at the effect of fluoxetine on IQ (Intelligence Quotient) over an 18 month period.
NCT00233701
The overall aim of the registry is to develop a longitudinal, observational database that is focused on adult patients with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) that can be used as a source of clinical information for individual surgeons, as well as a national data repository for scientific inquiry and publications.
NCT00337662
The current study has been designed to address the significance of early onset of response prospectively in patients treated with an atypical antipsychotic.
NCT00099489
The purpose of this study is to determine whether AVONEX (Interferon Beta-1a), when compared to placebo, reduces the total dose of IVIg that is administered after Visit 5 and through Visit 9 (Week 32, End of Study).
NCT00000139
To determine whether early treatment (with oral acyclovir) of herpes simplex virus (HSV) ulcerations of the corneal epithelium prevents progression to the blinding complications of stromal keratitis and iridocyclitis. To determine the efficacy of low-dose oral acyclovir in preventing recurrent HSV eye infection in patients with previous episodes of herpetic eye disease. To determine the role of external factors (such as ultraviolet light or corneal trauma) and behavioral factors (such as life stress) on the induction of ocular recurrences of HSV eye infections and disease.
NCT00003187
RATIONALE: Bone marrow transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to kill cancer cells. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Eliminating the T cells from the donor cells before transplanting them may prevent this from happening. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II/III trial to compare the effectiveness of conventional bone marrow transplantation with T cell-depleted bone marrow transplantation in treating patients who have leukemia, myelodysplasia, or lymphoblastic lymphoma.
NCT00203177
Study to look at the effectiveness, tolerability and safety of two doses of Rasagiline (0.5 mg and 1mg) in advanced Parkinson's Disease (PD) Patients who have been treated with Levodopa/Carbidopa therapy.
NCT00203034
Study for patients currently using Levodopa/Carbidopa who will be assigned to receive either Rasagiline or Placebo
NCT00036621
This clinical trial will assess whether BMS-275291 can be administered safely in combination with standard adjuvant therapy for early breast cancer and whether plasma concentrations at trough exceed a target minimum.
NCT00506584
The purpose of this study is to determine whether very low birth weight infants (less than or equal to 1250g or about 2 3/4 pounds) born prematurely fed a diet of only human milk and human milk-derived nutrition have better health outcomes than babies fed at least some formula (made from cow's milk)or formula-derived nutrition.
NCT00289640
The purpose of this clinical research study is to compare the best overall response rate (BORR)(as per modified WHO criteria) in patients with previously treated, therapy-refractory, or -intolerant, Stage III (unresectable) or Stage IV melanoma receiving ipilimumab doses of 0.3, 3, and 10 mg/kg. The safety of this product will also be evaluated.
NCT00509548
Wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is caused by the formation and growth of abnormal blood vessels (angiogenesis) in the retina. The new blood vessels have fragile walls and can leak fluid into the retina. The build-up of fluid (edema) under the macula can distort vision or cause vision loss. TG100801 is a topical (eye drop) therapy that has been shown to inhibit ocular angiogenesis, vascular leak, and inflammation in laboratory studies. The primary purpose of this pilot study is to evaluate the ability of topical administration of TG100801 to reduce the amount of fluid in the retina in patients with AMD following 30 days of treatment. An additional objective is to evaluate the safety of TG100801 in patients with AMD.
NCT00006280
This study's primary goals are to test the safety and effectiveness of Tobramycin for Inhalation (TOBIr) in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients who are between 6 months and 6 years of age. This drug is an antibiotic that is inhaled into the lungs by the patient. It has already been studied and approved by the FDA for treatment of CF patients 6 years and older. Lung fluid will be examined for bacteria before and after the 28-day treatment. The amount of bacteria before and after treatment will be compared. This will indicate whether the antibiotic was effective in killing bacteria in the lungs. Once treatment begins, patients will be monitored every 2 weeks throughout the study (5 exams in 56 days). Half of the patients will receive TOBIr, half will receive a placebo (a substance that looks like TOBIr but contains no medication).
NCT00162253
The purpose of this clinical research study is to learn if BMS-587101 is effective on the treatment of Moderate to Severe Psoriasis. The safety of this treatment will also be studied.
NCT00332748
The purpose of this study is to determine what effects Esomeprazole (Nexium) has on increasing or decreasing the amount of oral taxane in the blood, and to determine the safety of oral taxane and effect of oral taxane on the cancer.
NCT00473928
The objective of this study is to provide initial safety and tolerability information of intravitreal POT-4 for treatment of patients with AMD
