NCT01011478
RATIONALE: Rosuvastatin may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving rosuvastatin after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. It may also keep polyps from forming or colon cancer from coming back. It is not yet known whether rosuvastatin is more effective than a placebo in treating colon cancer that was removed by surgery. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying rosuvastatin to see how well it works compared with placebo in treating patients with stage I or stage II colon cancer that was removed by surgery.
NCT03013543
The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of setmelanotide (RM-493) on weight, hunger assessments, and other factors in participants with rare genetic disorders of obesity.
NCT05121480
The purpose of this research study is to determine whether the study drug, EDP1815, is safe and effective in the treatment of atopic dermatitis compared with placebo. The study will look at different doses of the study drug, and whether there are differences when the drug is given once daily or twice daily.
NCT04126317
The primary objectives of the study are to determine the safety of high-dose aflibercept (hereafter referred to as HD) and to determine if HD provides greater intraocular pharmacodynamic (PD) effect and/or longer duration of action compared to intravitreal aflibercept injection (hereafter referred to as IAI).
NCT02614794
This study is being done to see if tucatinib works better than placebo to help patients who have a specific type of breast cancer called HER2 positive breast carcinoma. The breast cancer in this study is either metastatic (spread into other parts of the body) or cannot be removed completely with surgery. All patients in the study will get capecitabine and trastuzumab, two drugs that are often used to treat this cancer. There are two parts to this study. The first part of the study is already complete. Patients were randomly assigned to get either tucatinib or placebo (a pill with no medicine). Since this part was "blinded," neither patients nor their doctors knew whether a patient got tucatinib or placebo. The second part of the study is called the Unblinded Phase. In this part of the study, participants and their doctors know which drugs are being given. Participants who used to get or are currently getting placebo may be able to start taking tucatinib instead. Each treatment cycle lasts 21 days. Patients will swallow tucatinib pills two times every day. They will swallow capecitabine pills two times a day during the first two weeks of each cycle. Patients will get trastuzumab injections from the study site staff on the first day of every cycle.
NCT03840915
The main purpose of the study was to evaluate the safety and tolerability of M7824 in combination with chemotherapy.
NCT03213184
The environment during the prenatal period and in early life is a major contributor to the risk of developing childhood asthma. Birth cohort studies from single research centers have identified several factors that affect the risk for developing childhood asthma, including being exposed in early life to allergens, pollutants, viruses and bacteria, and psychosocial stress. Despite such advances, further progress in understanding the root causes of asthma have been hampered by the small size of previous studies, which makes it difficult to: 1) identify asthma risk factors with certainty, 2) know how environmental factors across the United States (U.S.) affect asthma, and 3) whether there are critical ages when pregnant mothers, infants and young children are particularly susceptible to these influences. Furthermore, different research groups tend to use different methods to study asthma, making it difficult to either compare or pool findings. One other challenge is that there are several types (i.e. phenotypes, endotypes) of childhood asthma, but these are poorly understood. To help overcome these challenges, investigators leading 12 asthma birth cohorts across the U.S. have established the Children's Respiratory Research Workgroup (CREW) consortium. CREW proposes to identify specific types of childhood asthma, develop an understanding of what early life environmental influences cause these different types of asthma and when, and identify targets for future efforts aimed at preventing childhood asthma.
NCT04092582
This is a Phase IIa, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, multicenter, two-arm study to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics of MTPS9579A as an add-on therapy in patients with uncontrolled moderate to severe asthma who are receiving daily ICS therapy and at least one of the following additional controller medications: long-acting beta-agonist (LABA), leukotriene modulator (leukotriene modifier \[LTM\] or leukotriene receptor antagonist \[LTRA\]), long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA), or long-acting theophylline preparation.
NCT02033993
The purpose of this study is to compare the effects on urothelial cancer of nab-paclitaxel compared to paclitaxel to treat this disease. This research is being done because currently there is no effective treatment for urothelial cancer that has progressed after prior chemotherapy.
NCT00005957
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Radiation to the tumor site and surrounding area may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known if radiation therapy to the breast alone following surgery is more effective than radiation therapy to the breast plus surrounding tissue in treating invasive breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying radiation therapy to the breast alone to see how well it works compared to radiation therapy to the breast plus surrounding tissue in treating women who have undergone surgery for early-stage invasive breast cancer.
NCT04197141
The purpose of this research study is to determine if 5 (five) fractions of external radiotherapy with higher radiation doses per fraction to the pelvis leads to similar results to the standard of care external radiotherapy treatment that is comprised of 25 fractions of external radiotherapy with lower radiation doses per fraction to the pelvis. This study aims to investigate the impact in quality of life associated with hypofractionated Whole Pelvis Radiotherapy (WPRT) in comparison to conventionally-fractionated WPRT in patients with unfavorable-intermediate and high-risk prostate cancers. This information is valuable as hypofractionated WPRT is a more attractive and convenient treatment approach, and may become the new standard of care if proven to be well-tolerated and effective. Therefore, this study aims to provide a more rational justification for use of hypofractionated WPRT in future larger randomized trials by comparing this strategy with the current standard of care. This study will also provide an initial understanding of the toxicity profile and cancer control associated with hypofractionated WPRT and High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (HDR-BT).
NCT01726582
In this clinical trial, if the doctor knows or suspects that a growth in the pancreas is cancer (adenocarcinoma), then a sample of the growth is tested (the test is called molecular profiling). The results of the test are used by the doctor to recommend therapy (chemotherapy and radiation therapy) that the patient will receive before having surgery to remove the adenocarcinoma. When the patient goes to surgery, the adenocarcinoma that is removed is tested again. The results of that test are used to guide the choice of therapy after surgery. The chemotherapy drugs and the radiation therapy used in this clinical trial are already approved for treatment of pancreas cancer. This trial is intended to establish which treatment is best for a specific patient, based on test results from that patient's actual adenocarcinoma. In the past, the decision as to which treatment the patient will receive was not based on testing of the actual adenocarcinoma. See treatment pathways at http://www.mcw.edu/surgery/patientinfo/Pancreatic-Cancer-Trial.htm. Hypothesis: Resectability rate, overall survival rate and progression-free survival in subjects with adenocarcinoma of the pancreas will be superior for who receive targeted "personalized" therapy.
NCT01770951
The objective of this retrospective trial is to assess safety and efficacy of eculizumab in aHUS patients treated outside of an Alexion-sponsored controlled clinical trial.
NCT05063734
This study is conducted to select the THR-687 dose level (Part A of the study) and to assess the efficacy and safety of the selected dose level compared to aflibercept (Part B of the study).
NCT00080912
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether single-fraction (single-dose) re-irradiation therapy is as effective as multiple-fraction (many small doses of radiation therapy) re-irradiation therapy in relieving bone pain caused by bone metastases. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying single-dose radiation therapy to see if it works as well as multiple-dose radiation therapy in treating patients previously irradiated with painful bone metastases.

NCT04227275
Multi-center, open-label, Phase 1 study of the safety, tolerability and feasibility of dosing patients harboring metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) with genetically modified autologous T cells (CART-PSMA-TGFβRDN cells) engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) capable of recognizing the tumor antigen prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) and activating the T cell.
NCT05994404
The purpose of the study is to determine the cost-effectiveness of different surgical strategies to treat cervical spondylotic myelopathy. The study will use data generated from the CSM-S Trial (NCT02076113). 1. To determine if laminoplasty is more cost-effective compared to dorsal fusion or ventral fusion surgery. 2. To determine the relative cost-effectiveness between anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), posterior instrumented cervical fusion (PCF), and cervical laminoplasty.
NCT02598557
This phase IIb trial studies how well alternative dosing of exemestane before surgery works in treating in postmenopausal patients with stage 0-II estrogen positive breast cancer. Chemoprevention is the use of drugs to keep breast cancer from forming or coming back. The use of exemestane may treat early stage (stage 0-II) breast cancer. Comparing the exemestane standard dose regimen versus two alternative, less frequent dose regimens may decrease undesirable symptoms and have similar efficacy in reducing serum estradiol.
