NCT01330316
The objective of this trial is to collect evidence for the safety and efficacy of 24 weeks of treatment with BI 201335 240 mg in combination with 24 or 48 weeks of Pegylated Interferon (PegIFN) and ribavirin (RBV) in treatment experienced patients who have been withdrawn from PegIFN and RBV treatment due to lack of efficacy in the 1220.7, 1220.30 and 1220.47 trials.
NCT00023751
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining surgery with chemotherapy and radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells and prevent recurrence of the cancer. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of surgery with or without chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating patients who have stage I rectal cancer.
NCT00003571
RATIONALE: Analyzing the structure of genes found in a person's cancer cells may help doctors improve methods of treating patients with colon cancer. PURPOSE: Clinical trial to study the genes of patients treated with chemotherapy for colon cancer.
NCT00002494
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy and alternating regimens of chemotherapy in treating patients who have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or acute lymphocytic leukemia.
NCT00003931
RATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as genetic testing, may improve the ability to detect acute myeloid leukemia and determine the extent of disease. PURPOSE: Diagnostic study to try to detect changes in the genes of patients who have acute myeloid leukemia.
NCT00004933
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known if homoharringtonine is more effective than hydroxyurea for chronic myelogenous leukemia that has not responded to interferon alfa. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of homoharringtonine with that of hydroxyurea in treating patients who have chronic myelogenous leukemia that has not responded to interferon alfa.
NCT00053885
RATIONALE: PTK787/ZK 222584 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for tumor cell growth. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of PTK787/ZK 222584 in treating patients with unresectable malignant mesothelioma.
NCT00087607
This study will examine the viral kinetics and pharmacokinetics of Pegasys plus ribavirin and PEG-Intron plus ribavirin in interferon-naive patients with CHC. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.
NCT01399632
Generally, people with low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in blood are more likely to get heart disease than those who have normal or high levels. Dietary fat, whether the harmful type (saturated) or beneficial type (unsaturated) raises HDL levels. Dietary carbohydrate lowers HDL. The investigators are doing this research study to find out why the amount of HDL in a person's blood is affected by dietary unsaturated fat and carbohydrate. The investigators will trace the ability of the HDL in a person's blood to take up cholesterol, get bigger, and then leave the blood by passing into the liver. The investigators want to know if dietary unsaturated fat improves the ability of HDL to do this compared to dietary carbohydrate.
NCT02126995
This study is a multisite, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 2 study of MG01CI (low dose and high dose once daily) for 6 weeks compared with placebo in a 1:1 ratio of 60 adolescent and adult subjects with Fragile X Syndrome (FXS). Following Screening, subjects will be randomized to MG01CI or matching placebo at Baseline (Day 0) and the 6 week Double-blind Treatment Period will begin on Day 1. The first 4 weeks of the treatment period will be a dose-optimization period, All subjects will start with two daily tablets: low dose metadoxine or matching blinded placebo. At weekly visits/phone assessments, the investigator will evaluate the dose based upon the investigator's assessment of safety and tolerability. If the subject demonstrates safety or tolerability concerns with the low dose after 1 or 2 weeks of treatment, then the subject will be discontinued. If there are no concerns about safety and tolerability after 2 weeks of treatment, then the dose will be increased to high dose or placebo. If at the high dose there are concerns about safety and tolerability, then the dose will be either kept the same or reduced to low dose for the remainder of the treatment period. There will be a 2-week Follow-up Period after the last dose of study treatment or early termination.
NCT00005850
This trial is designed to test the efficacy of fluoxetine to improve patient's quality of life during chemotherapy. An innovative application of a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor may modulate the effects of fatigue, anxiety and depression which worsen quality of life.
NCT01955707
The primary objective of the study is to determine whether one 300 mg dose of intravenous (IV) natalizumab reduces change in infarct volume from Baseline to Day 5 on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in participants with acute ischemic stroke when given at ≤6 hours or at \>6 to ≤9 hours from when they were last known normal (LKN). The secondary objectives of this study in this study population are as follows: to assess the efficacy of natalizumab on change in infarct volume from Baseline to Day 30; to assess efficacy of natalizumab on change in infarct volume from 24 hours to Day 5 and Day 30; to assess the efficacy of natalizumab on clinical measures of stroke outcome; to assess the safety of natalizumab in participants with acute ischemic stroke.
NCT01798485
The purpose of this study is to determine whether combining ganetespib (STA-9090) with docetaxel is more effective than docetaxel alone in the treatment of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00426660
To provide access to maraviroc to patients who have limited or no therapeutic treatment options and to collect more safety data in a broader patient population.
NCT00405782
This study is being done to evaluate the impact of moderate-intensity exercise (such as walking) on quality of life, energy level, endurance and mood in women with metastatic breast cancer. Studies have shown that women with early stage breast cancer who exercise during treatment have more energy, less sleep disturbance, less anxiety and depression, and better strength and endurance than women who do not exercise. These studies have also shown that women who exercised during treatment for early stage breast cancer did not develop injuries or increased fatigue from exercising during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The investigators are conducting this trial to see if women with metastatic breast cancer experience similar benefits from exercise as women with earlier breast cancer. The investigators also wish to determine whether women with advanced disease are able to exercise safely during their treatment under the supervision of an exercise physiologist.
NCT00072527
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, irinotecan, carboplatin, and etoposide, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of cisplatin and irinotecan followed by carboplatin, etoposide, and radiation therapy in treating patients who have limited-stage small cell lung cancer.
