NCT00047385
RATIONALE: Effective screening tests should help doctors detect lung cancer early and plan curative treatment. It is not yet known whether low-dose helical computed tomography (LDCT) screening is more effective than chest radiography (CXR) screening in reducing death from lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized clinical trial to compare the effectiveness of LDCT scan with that of CXR in screening individuals who are at high risk for developing lung cancer.
NCT00096772
The purpose of this study is to collect blood samples from HIV infected individuals for use in future genetic studies.
NCT00996164
The object of this trial is to assess the safety and efficacy of a 24 week course of flibanserin for the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women.
NCT01542788
This multicenter study was to evaluate subjects with chronic genotype 2 or 3 HCV infection who were interferon (IFN) ineligible, IFN intolerant or unwilling to take IFN. Participants were randomized in a 3:1 ratio to receive sofosbuvir (SOF)+ribavirin (RBV), or placebo to match SOF+placebo to match RBV. Randomization was stratified by presence/absence of cirrhosis. Approximately 20% of participants may have had evidence of cirrhosis at screening.
NCT00630734
Pravastatin (Pravachol) is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is used to treat high cholesterol. Darunavir (Prezista) and ritonavir (Norvir) are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat HIV infection. When darunavir and ritonavir are given with pravastatin, they can increase the blood levels of pravastatin. The degree of this interaction varies from person to person. The way that darunavir and ritonavir interact with pravastatin may be affected by a person's genetic make-up. Genetic factors (or DNA) are those that people are born with and that make each person unique. Genetic differences are the reason why one person's body traits such as height and hair color are different from another person's body traits. Genetic differences can also affect the way a medication works in the body or the way two medications interact in the body. The purpose of this clinical study is to determine if a person's genetic make-up affects the way darunavir and ritonavir interact with pravastatin in the body.
NCT00938405
This is a prospective, randomized, double blind, parallel, placebo controlled clinical trial evaluating the efficacy of colesevelam HCl in reducing LDL in subjects with type 1 diabetes mellitus over a 12 week treatment period. The aim is to highlight the effect of colesevelam on LDL cholesterol and glycemia in a type 1 diabetic population. The colesevelam group is anticipated to demonstrate a mean reduction in LDL by 10% compared to the placebo group, indicated by A1c and glycemic target range CGM readings.
NCT00387088
The objective of the study is to evaluate the long-term (one year) efficacy and safety of tiotropium delivered by the Respimat inhaler in patients with COPD. Specifically, the study will examine the effect of treatment on COPD exacerbations.
NCT00493636
The study is being conducted to compare progression-free survival in patients treated with sorafenib and gemcitabine/capecitabine versus patients treated with placebo and gemcitabine/capecitabine for locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer that has progressed during or following treatment with a bevacizumab-containing regimen.
NCT00523991
A 24 week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 18mcg of tiotropium inhalation capsules administered by Handihaler once daily plus Pro Re Nata (PRN) albuterol (salbutamol) vs. placebo plus PRN albuterol (salbutamol) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease subjects naive to maintenance therapy.
NCT00329238
The general aim of this study is to determine the comparative safety and efficacy of dabigatran etexilate administered orally and warfarin (International Normalized Ratio (INR) of 2.0-3.0) for the long-term treatment and secondary prevention of symptomatic venous thromboembolism in patients who have been successfully treated with standard doses of an approved anticoagulant for three to twelve months for confirmed acute symptomatic Venous Thrombo-embolism.
NCT00963053
The purpose of the study is to investigate how effective VA111913 is at preventing menstrual pain in women with primary dysmenorrhoea.
NCT00153101
The Ongoing Telmisartan Alone and in combination wiht Ramipril Global Endpoint trial (ONTARGET): The primary objectives are to determine if (a) telmisartan 80mg daily and ramipril 10mg daily combination therapy is more effective in reducing the composite endpoint of Cardiovascular Death (CV) death, Myocardial infarction (MI), stroke or hospitalization for Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) compared with ramipril 10mg alone; and (b) telmisartan 80mg daily is at least as effective as (i.e. not less effective than) ramipril 10mg daily, on this endpoint. Telmisartan Randomised Assessment Study in Angiotension converting Enzyme inhibitor intolerant subjects with Cardiovascular Disease. (TRANSCEND): The primary objective of the study is to determine if treatment with telmisartan 80mg daily is superior to placebo reducing the composite endpoint of Cardiovascular Death (CV), Myocardial Infarction ( MI)I, stroke or hospitalization for Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) in patients who are intolerant to Angiotension Converting Enzyme inhibitors.
NCT01087970
The purpose of this study is to look for an improvement in progression free survival with the combination of pemetrexed, carboplatin (or cisplatin) and cetuximab in participants with recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
NCT00351624
The primary objective of this study is to determine whether a 4-month period of supplementation with 400 mg/day of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) provided from chewable softgel capsules containing bubblegum flavored microalgal oil (DHASCO-S) versus placebo improves one or more cognitive measures of attention, memory, processing speed, and error rate in healthy children 4 years of age. The secondary objectives are to measure the safety and tolerability of the DHA dose administered and to measure blood DHA levels before and after supplementation.
