NCT00859898
The primary purpose of this study is to compare the change from baseline in hemoglobin A1C achieved with dapagliflozin 10 mg in combination with metformin XR as compared with metformin XR monotherapy and compared with Dapagliflozin monotherapy, after 24 weeks of oral administration of double-blind treatment. The safety of treatment with dapagliflozin will also be assessed in this study
NCT00769704
The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of treatment with talimogene laherparepvec compared to subcutaneously administered GM-CSF in patients with unresectable Stage IIIb, IIIc and Stage IV melanoma. The efficacy endpoints of the study aim to demonstrate overall clinical benefit for patients treated with talimogene laherparepvec as compared to GM-CSF.
NCT01817010
To determine if patients who receive an 8 week, comprehensive, multi-component rehabilitation program (CMC) have better strength and functional performance compared to a control group (CON). The investigators hypothesize that functional performance and strength in the muscles surrounding the hip and the knee will be greater in the multi-component rehabilitation group compared to the control group.
NCT01064401
The primary study objective is to test the superiority of Daclizumab High Yield Process (DAC HYP) compared to interferon β 1a (IFN β-1a) in preventing multiple sclerosis (MS) relapse in participants with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis. The secondary study objectives are to test the superiority of DAC HYP compared to IFN β-1a in slowing functional decline and disability progression and maintaining quality of life in this participant population.
NCT00030628
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Radiosurgery may be able to deliver x-rays directly to the tumor and cause less damage to normal tissue. It is not yet known if radiosurgery is more effective with or without whole-brain radiation therapy in treating brain metastases. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of radiosurgery with or without whole-brain radiation therapy in treating patients who have brain metastases.
NCT01659138
Primary Objective: To assess the efficacy of SAR339658 Secondary Objective: To assess the safety of SAR339658
NCT01747538
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of gevokizumab in reducing the risk of recurrent uveitic disease in subjects with non-infectious uveitis whose disease is currently controlled with systemic treatment.
NCT00516698
RATIONALE: Studying changes in breast density and blood hormone levels in women receiving anastrozole or exemestane for breast cancer may help doctors learn more about the long-term effects of treatment and may help the study of breast cancer in the future. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying changes in breast density and blood hormone levels in postmenopausal women receiving anastrozole or exemestane for breast cancer.
NCT00003674
RATIONALE: Dalteparin may be effective in inhibiting the growth of blood vessels in tumors, decreasing the risk of metastatic cancer, preventing the formation of blood clots, and improving quality of life in treating patients with advanced cancer that has not responded to previous treatment. It is not yet known if standard therapy is more effective with or without dalteparin in treating advanced breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized double blinded phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of standard therapy with or without dalteparin in treating patients who have advanced breast, lung, colorectal, or prostate cancer that has not responded to previous chemotherapy or hormone therapy.
NCT00006214
RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs such as flutamide to try to prevent the development of cancer. Flutamide may be effective in the prevention of prostate cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized clinical trial to study the effectiveness of flutamide in preventing prostate cancer in patients who have neoplasia of the prostate.
NCT00003762
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to compare the effectiveness of two regimens of docetaxel plus gemcitabine in treating patients who have stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00033592
RATIONALE: Use of a nicotine inhaler and/or bupropion may be effective in helping people stop smoking and prevent them from starting smoking again. It is not yet known whether a nicotine inhaler or bupropion are more effective alone or combined for stopping smoking. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of the nicotine inhaler or bupropion alone to that of the nicotine inhaler combined with bupropion in helping people to stop smoking and prevent starting smoking again.
NCT00075855
RATIONALE: The hormone testosterone may improve the libido (sex drive) in women. It is not yet known whether testosterone is effective in improving libido in female cancer survivors. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying how well low-dose testosterone works to improve libido in postmenopausal cancer survivors.
NCT00060320
RATIONALE: The herbal supplement black cohosh may be effective in relieving hot flashes in women. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of black cohosh in relieving hot flashes in women who have breast cancer or who are at risk of developing breast cancer.
NCT00031759
RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain substances to try to prevent the development of cancer. Applying topical imiquimod before abnormal cervical cells are removed may be effective in preventing cervical cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of applying topical imiquimod before abnormal cervical cells are removed in preventing cervical cancer in patients who have recurrent or persistent cervical neoplasia.
NCT01979861
The purpose of this study is to determine if the AEGEA Vapor System for endometrial ablation is safe and effective for reducing menstrual blood loss in women with excessive uterine bleeding (menorrhagia)
NCT00529061
Sickle cell disease (SCD), also known as sickle cell anemia, is an inherited blood disease that can cause intense pain episodes. The purpose of this study is to gather medical information from children and adults with SCD and establish a database so that researchers can contact people to participate in future SCD research studies.
NCT01034163
The primary objective was to provide drug to ongoing patients who were receiving panobinostat and to characterize the safety and tolerability of panobinostat in patients with HL after achieving a complete response following autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant (AHSCT) with high dose chemotherapy (HDT). Primary objective as stated above reflects a change from the original protocol as of an amendment. The original objective was no longer feasible with only 41 of 367 patients randomized after the study was halted due to poor recruitment. An amendment was written to allow patients on panobinostat to continue their treatment until discontinuation/completion criteria were met (patients were unblinded). Therefore, the study was completed as per this amendment. No secondary objectives were included for this trial from the amendment; this was a change from the original protocol.
NCT00587171
This study is comparing the effectiveness of patching combined with active vision therapy plus near activities versus patching combined with control vision therapy plus near activities for moderate amblyopia (20/40-20/100) in 7 to \<13 year olds. The primary outcome measure is the proportion of patients with visual acuity of 20/25 or better in the amblyopic eye at the 17-week masked exam. These patients will be considered treatment responders. The primary analysis will consist of a comparison between the 2 treatment groups of the proportion of treatment responders with adjustment for baseline visual acuity. Secondary outcomes are stereoacuity at the 17-week masked exam, mean improvement in visual acuity at the 17-week masked exam, and rate of improvement of visual acuity.
