NCT01521559
This is a phase III, double-masked, randomized, active-controlled, parallel-group, 52-week study to assess the efficacy and safety of Intravitreal Aflibercept Injection (IAI;EYLEA®;BAY86-5321) compared to laser treatment in patients with macular edema secondary to BRVO.
NCT01104584
The purpose of this study is to look at the efficacy (how does it work) and safety of gadobutrol when used for obtaining MR images of both breasts.Women with a recent diagnosis of breast cancer by mammogram (X-ray examination of the breasts) may benefit from MRI of the breasts as MRI may detect additional breast cancers
NCT01900275
Across the world, the most common cause of dying in the ICU is a disease called "sepsis". Sepsis is a disease in which the body's protective response to infection becomes too intense, unnecessarily damaging important organs in the body. Kidney damage during sepsis is particularly bad, as a person's chance of survival drops significantly when he or she develops kidney failure. This study plans to learn more about how to detect (and thus prevent) kidney failure early in sepsis. The current tests doctors use only detect kidney failure once it's already happened. We must therefore find better ways of detecting kidney failure earlier, when there is still a chance to protect the kidneys. In this study, patients will provide a one-time sample of urine. We will check this urine for signs of a protein called "heparanase", which we believe is important in early kidney failure. We will then see if high heparanase activity in urine predicts the risk of developing kidney failure. We will compare results from patients with sepsis with results from patients with trauma, allowing us to determine if heparanase is only important in sepsis kidney failure.
NCT01166542
The purpose of this Phase 3 study is to evaluate overall survival and progression free survival following intravenous administration of REOLYSIN (Reovirus Serotype 3 Dearing) in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin versus chemotherapy treatment alone, in patients with metastatic or recurrent Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck.
NCT01182480
This proof of concept study proposes to evaluate the feasibility of a communications-technology-based chronic care and patient relationship management program to improve diabetes self management among adult diabetic patients in an urban safety net population by providing between-visit reminders and chronic disease support through cell phone text messaging. The investigators hypothesize that diabetic patients enrolled in the program will be less likely to miss scheduled appointments and will have greater perceived self-efficacy and improved patient satisfaction concerning chronic disease management. No-show rates among patients enrolled in the program are expected to be lower than among patients receiving standard care.
NCT01650805
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy of ponatinib and imatinib in patients with newly diagnosed chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in the chronic phase.
NCT00542113
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a school-to-home education program for it's ability to increase knowledge about, and ability to prevent type two diabetes in children and parents.
NCT01442675
The purpose of this trial is to describe the safety and antibody response to revaccination with Menactra vaccine in persons who received their first dose at ≥11 years of age. Primary Objective: \- To evaluate the antibody responses to meningococcal serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135, measured by serum bactericidal assay using human complement (SBA-HC), induced by Menactra vaccine in subjects who were first vaccinated with Menactra 4-6 years ago. Secondary Objective: \- To evaluate the antibody responses to serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135 in serum specimens collected 6 days post-vaccination in a subset of study population. Observational Objective: \- To describe the rates of immediate reactions, solicited injection-site and systemic reactions, unsolicited adverse events and serious adverse events following vaccination.
NCT00955747
The purpose of this trial was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Naturlose (Tagatose) for glycemic control in people with Type 2 diabetes who were not taking other medications for the condition and who were under diet control and exercise. The study lasted approximately one year. HbA1c was monitored every 2 months after entry into the study. Safety and tolerance for tagatose were assessed every 2 months throughout the study. A total of 14 visits were made to the study site.
NCT00665327
This study was to assess the safety of sequential intravenous (IV)/oral (PO) moxifloxacin (Avelox®) compared with sequential IV/PO levofloxacin (Levaquin®) in the treatment of elderly subjects (aged \≥ 65 years) with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) who required initial IV therapy. This study also included an assessment of the clinical and bacteriologic effectiveness of both drugs.
NCT00979108
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of adding mechanical traction to standard physical therapy treatments for patients with neck and arm pain.
NCT00532779
The purpose of this study is to determine whether 2 doses of the combination of naltrexone SR and bupropion SR are safe and effective in the treatment of obesity.
NCT00549328
This study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of monotherapy pazopanib (a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor of VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, VEGFR-3, PDGF, and c-kit) in subjects with advanced (Stage IIIB or IV) non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT01086215
The Registry involves the collection of information for research and educational purposes only on the use of AngioJet in the peripheral vascular system.
NCT01338818
This study will evaluate the long-term safety of methylphenidate hydrochloride extended release in adults with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder
NCT00847470
The purpose of this study was to document the reasons for placing the first restoration ("filling") on a previously un-restored surface in a permanent ("adult") tooth.
NCT01376297
NETU-10-29 is a clinical study assessing safety of netupitant and palonosetron, two antiemetic drugs, both given with oral dexamethasone. The objective of the study is to evaluate if netupitant and palonosetron are safe when administered to prevent nausea and vomiting after administration of repeated cycles of chemotherapy.
NCT00378235
IL13-PE38QQR is an oncology drug product consisting of IL13 (interleukin-13) and PE38QQR (a bacteria toxin). IL3-PE38QQR is a protein that exhibits cell killing activity against a variety of IL13-receptor positive tumor cell lines indicating that it may show a therapeutic benefit. In reciprocal competition experiments, the interaction between IL13-PE38QQR and the IL13 receptors was shown to be highly specific for human glioma cells.
NCT00835627
The investigators propose that patients who receive targeted pharmacotherapy (sertraline) or focused psychotherapy (cognitive behavioral therapy-informed psychotherapy (CBT-ip) for NES) or combined treatment (CBT-ip + sertraline) will report fewer nonepileptic seizures (NES) compared to patients who receive community care / treatment as usual (TAU). The purpose of this study is to provide pilot testing and data to inform the future multicenter randomized controlled trial based on the hypothesis.
NCT00582010
This blinded, placebo-controlled study will administer inhaled nitric oxide to patients undergoing liver transplantation. The purpose of the study is to test if inhaled nitric oxide prevents liver injury associated with the restoration of blood flow. The premise of the current study is provided by previous studies which document a protective effect of inhaled nitric oxide in this clinical setting.
