NCT06976125
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is when bacteria enter the urinary system and cause an infection. UTIs cause symptoms including burning when peeing, a feeling of an increased urge to pee, and cloudy or strong-smelling urine. Sometimes, severe UTIs can also cause fever, abdominal pain, and/or lower back pain. In the emergency department (ED), healthcare providers rely on symptoms, along with a urine analysis and a urine culture to diagnose a UTI. A urine analysis involves taking a sample of urine and analyzing different factors like color, acidity, presence of blood cells, presence of bacteria. An abnormal urine analysis increases the likelihood that patients might have a UTI, but it does not confirm it. A positive urine analysis will lead to provider's sending a sample of urine for a urine culture. A urine culture is used to grow whatever bacteria is in the collected urine. If growth is seen on the culture, then this confirms a patient has a UTI. This also specifies which bacteria grew on the culture. The lab can also take it a step further and do an antibiotic test to check which antibiotic the bacteria is sensitive to. When a urine analysis comes back abnormal in an ER setting, patients are prescribed an antibiotic before the culture and antibiotic sensitivity tests come back. If a patients condition is not critical, they will be discharged home before the culture results come back. If the culture comes back positive, the pharmacists will evaluate the culture and antibiotic sensitivity tests, then call patients to inform them whether they are taking a suitable antibiotic. This study aims to decrease the unnecessary use of antibiotics because this contributes to antibiotic resistance which is considered a global public health issue. Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria develop the ability to withstand certain antibiotics that used to be effective against them, which makes it difficult to treat the infection. One of the factors that increase the risk of antibiotic resistance is the overuse of antibiotics. In this study, investigators will be incorporating a prediction model and a negative callback system to decrease unnecessary antibiotic use.

NCT04726241
This study aims to use clinical and biological characteristics of acute leukemias to screen for patient eligibility for available pediatric leukemia sub-trials. Testing bone marrow and blood from patients with leukemia that has come back after treatment or is difficult to treat may provide information about the patient's leukemia that is important when deciding how to best treat it, and may help doctors find better ways to diagnose and treat leukemia in children, adolescents, and young adults.
NCT07248228
Participants in this research study have cancer that has spread to their brain, called brain metastases. One treatment for this type of cancer is called whole brain radiotherapy that stays away from a specific neurocognitive substructure, called the hippocampus, combined with medication to preserve cognitive function. This study compares that approach to another approach of whole brain radiotherapy that stays away from additional structures that are thought to have a role in cognitive function. Researchers want to see if there is a difference in the preservation of cognitive function between these two approaches.
NCT06290934

The study will compare participants in different treatment groups treated with emvistegrast with participants treated with placebo. The primary objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of emvistegrast, compared with placebo control, in achieving clinical response at Week 12.
NCT04420884
The main aim of this study is to check if people with advanced solid tumors have side effects from dazostinag, and to check how much dazostinag they can receive without getting significant side effects from it when given alone and in combination with pembrolizumab. The study will be conducted in two phases including a dose escalation phase and a dose expansion phase. In the dose escalation phase, escalating doses of dazostinag are being tested alone and in combination with pembrolizumab to treat participants who have advanced or metastatic solid tumors. In the dose expansion phase, dazostinag will be studied with pembrolizumab with or without chemotherapy in participants with untreated metastatic or recurrent, unresectable squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck (SCCHN) and in combination with pembrolizumab in third-line or later recurrent locally advanced or metastatic microsatellite instability-high/mismatch repair deficient (MSI-H/dMMR) and third-line recurrent locally advanced or metastatic microsatellite stable/mismatch repair proficient (MSS/pMMR) colorectal cancer (CRC).
NCT06704009
Phase 1/2 Trial NT-101 Topical Ophthalmic Solution in Patients with Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
NCT07225920
A geriatric assessment (GA) is a structured approach to identifying and addressing the strengths and vulnerabilities of older adults with cancer. They can improve the quality of cancer care for older adults and lower side effects. It is recommended a GA be administered prior to the start of non-hormonal systemic therapy for all older adults. Despite these guidelines, only a small percentage of practices report administering them. The practical geriatric assessment (PGA) was developed to help oncology practices perform GAs. It aims to provide a brief way to evaluate older patients' physical health along with other important things like support network and impact to the patient's daily life. Typically, clinics do not receive extra training on delivering the PGA. Providing training and support for staff at cancer clinics may help deliver the enhanced PGA to older adult cancer patients who are starting a new-hormonal systemic therapy. This clinical trial looks at whether providing training and support for staff at cancer clinics can help them deliver patient check-ups (e.g., PGA) specifically designed for adults \>= 65 years old (older adults) starting a new non-hormonal systemic cancer therapy. The usual approach clinics use when starting these cancer therapy courses with an older adult may vary considerably.
NCT07215624
This study evaluates the use of extended venous thromboembolism prophylaxis (ePPx) following abdominopelvic cancer surgery within the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) network, targeting surgeons and surgical advanced practice providers (APPs).
NCT06534411
This study will look at how much CagriSema lowers blood sugar and body weight in people with type 2 diabetes. CagriSema is a new investigational medicine. Doctors cannot yet prescribe CagriSema. CagriSema will be compared to a medicine called tirzepatide. Doctors can prescribe tirzepatide in some countries. Participants will either receive CagriSema or tirzepatide. Which treatment the participant will receive is decided by chance. For each participant, the study will last for up to 1 year and 4 months.
NCT00859781
The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of the experimental drug, 177Lu-J591 in combination with ketoconazole and hydrocortisone against prostate cancer.
NCT06067347
The goal of this observational study is to correlate molecular alterations with outcomes including overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), response rates for patients with a new diagnosis, primary refractory or relapse, of mature T-cell and NK-cell neoplasms (TNKL). We hypothesize that machine learning can be leveraged to uncover distinct genetic vulnerabilities that underlie treatment response and resistance for patients with TNKL, thus moving towards personalized treatment solutions.
