NCT00002791
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining radiation therapy with more than one chemotherapy drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy followed by surgery in treating patients who have soft tissue sarcoma.
NCT01570686
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of food on aliskiren's efficacy, pharmacokinetics and safety following an oral dose of 300 mg, given once daily under light meal versus fasted conditions.
NCT00375245
The purpose of this study is to determine the highest safe dose of rapamycin when given with a fixed amount of grapefruit juice.
NCT00074386
With improved anti-HIV drug therapy, HIV infected patients are now living longer. These patients are at risk for liver and kidney failure and may need organ transplants. However, little is know about the safety and effectiveness of organ transplants in patients with HIV. This study will evaluate organ transplantation in HIV infected patients undergoing liver and kidney transplants.
NCT00667485
The goal of this trial is to determine the toxicity and maximum dose of rapamycin and bevacizumab given together to subjects with advanced cancers. This study will also look at the pharmacokinetics and antitumor activity of the combination.
NCT00708591
To determine the maximum tolerated dose, observed toxicities, and dose limiting toxicities, and antitumor response of rapamycin plus ketoconazole in patients with advanced cancers.
NCT00552240
The aim of this clinical trial is to compare the efficacy and safety of ritonavir (RTV)-boosted atazanavir with nevirapine, each on a background of emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (DF).
NCT00002670
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy plus cisplatin is more effective than radiation therapy alone in treating patients with head and neck cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of radiation therapy plus cisplatin with radiation therapy alone in treating patients with head and neck cancer that has been removed during surgery.
NCT02034903
The temperature of milk fed to infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has been shown to vary greatly, and is influenced by individual provider practice. The clinical effect of varying milk temperatures on preterm infant feeding tolerance has not been well studied. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of warming method, water bath versus commercial warmer and its impact on feeding tolerance. Sample population will include eighty-six infants born at 30-0/7 weeks or less, and admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Advocate Children's Hospital, Park Ridge within 48 hours of birth and remain in the study for a minimum of 28 days. After obtaining consent, eligible infants will be assigned to a control (water bath) or experimental (commercial warmer) group using a randomized sampling scheme. After warming, and just prior to feeding, milk temperatures will be taken and recorded by a trained data recorder. Feeding tolerance will be measured based on gastric residual volume and length of time required to achieve full feeds. Based upon the available evidence, the study investigators hypothesize that warming feeds to a consistent temperature range using commercially available milk warmer will improve feeding tolerance and decrease time to full feedings in preterm infants.
NCT01970566
Obesity is a prevalent disorder and linked with inflammation, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, obstructive sleep apnea, atherosclerosis, and associated with significant morbidity and mortality. This randomized clinical trial will compare the effectiveness of Intense Exercise/Moderate Calorie Restriction (IE-MCR), Topiramate-Phentermine (TP) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on obesity and atherosclerosis in individuals with morbidly obesity. This randomized clinical trial will compare: 1) the change in fat mass and atherosclerosis, 2) the change in psychological and quality-of-life as well as economic burden in response to IE-MCR, TP and CBT, and 3) conduct exploratory mechanistic biomolecular, genetic and therapeutic analyses to develop intervention-specific individualized intervention models to improve management of morbidly obese individuals.
NCT01555060
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of daily iron supplements after blood donation on time to recovery of hemoglobin and iron stores. The study will also determine whether the effect of iron supplements on time to recovery is different in men and women, in older vs. younger donors (\<60 years old vs. at least 60 years old) and in donors with replete vs. diminished pre-donation iron stores.
NCT00310219
RATIONALE: Imaging procedures, such as positron emission tomography (PET) scan and CT scan, may help doctors plan radiation therapy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well a combined PET scan and CT scan works compared to a CT scan alone in planning radiation therapy for patients with stage II or stage III non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT01272076
The objective of this study is to compare Cirrus HD-OCT automated measurements of the illumination area under the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) to expert manual measurements of areas of hypofluorescence typical of geographic atrophy in fundus autofluorescence (FAF) images.
NCT02015780
To evaluate the efficacy of fasiglifam 50 mg once daily compared to placebo on glycemic control as measured by glycosilated haemoglobin (HbA1c) over a 16-week treatment period in participants with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 4 or 5 on dialysis.
NCT00053508
The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and the effectiveness of a new vaccine for the prevention of the disease, smallpox.
NCT00997178
The primary aim of the study is to determine if non-surgical periodontal therapy (scaling and root planing and supportive periodontal therapy) is efficacious compared to delayed therapy in reducing elevated glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) at 6 months post-randomization in subjects with type 2 diabetes and untreated, moderate to advanced chronic periodontitis. The secondary aims of the study are to: 1. evaluate whether 6 month (or shorter-term (3 month)) changes in clinical measures of chronic periodontitis (gingival index, bleeding on probing, probing depth, clinical attachment level) are related to changes in HbA1c and fasting glucose or insulin resistance as measured by the Homeostasis Model Assessment 2 (HOMA2). 2. assess the 3 month and 6 month efficacy of periodontal therapy on all of the above study outcomes. If a treatment response is observed for any of the study outcomes at 3 months, then the trial can evaluate whether this response is sustained at 6 months.
NCT00827177
This is an open-label, dose-escalation study of ARQ 197 administered orally in combination with sorafenib.
NCT01124565
This study's objective is to evaluate if RT001 is safe and well-tolerated following two (2) sequential applications.
NCT00933036
The clinical trial is being conducted to evaluate the performance of the Crosstrees System in reducing pain and decreasing the risk of cement leakage associated with vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty.
NCT01134393
The general aim of this trial to determine the efficacy as measured by the percentage of patients reaching blood pressure goal at the end of the treatment period at 12 weeks. In-clinic blood pressures, home blood pressures and safety will be carefully monitored.
