NCT00431964
This is a study to examine the safety, effect on lung function, and frequency of symptoms relating to cystic fibrosis during 24 weeks of treatment with the antibiotic azithromycin in 6-18 year-olds with CF who are not infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
NCT02075450
Our project aims to improve the delivery and assessment of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during pediatric cardiac arrest by introducing 2 novel approaches: 1. We will evaluate the effectiveness of a novel, credit card sized, and highly affordable "nano-card" CPR visual feedback device to improve compliance with HSFC CPR guidelines when used during simulated pediatric cardiac arrest; 2. We will also develop and study a novel, "Just-in-Time" (JIT) CPR training video, integrating proven educational methods (video-based lecture, expert modeling, practice-while-watching), and use the CPR visual feedback device to provide real-time coaching. We hypothesize that: H1: The use of a CPR visual feedback device will improve compliance with current HSFC CPR and resuscitation guidelines during a simulated pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest scenario compared with standard CPR with no visual feedback. H2: A JIT CPR Training Video, viewed by healthcare providers 2-4 weeks prior to the resuscitation event, will improve compliance with current HSFC CPR and resuscitation guidelines during simulated pediatric cardiac arrest compared with those healthcare providers with no prior exposure to the JIT CPR Training Video. H3: That there is poor correlation between providers' perception of CPR quality and actual measured CPR quality H4: That task load varies depending on provider role and type of clinical scenario
NCT00272792
The primary objective of this trial is to evaluate the ability of Phenoptin to increase phenylalanine (phe) tolerance in children with phenylketonuria who are following a phe-restricted diet.
NCT00997503
The TAXUS Libertē Post-Approval Study is an FDA-mandated prospective, multi-center study designed to collect real-world safety and clinical outcomes in approximately 4,200 patients receiving one or more TAXUS Liberté Paclitaxel-Eluting Stents and prasugrel as part of a dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) drug regimen. This study will also contribute patient data to an FDA-requested and industry-sponsored research study that will evaluate the optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT Study).
NCT01145859
The first study with rivaroxaban in pediatric subjects is a Phase I study, where the pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) profile of rivaroxaban will be investigated to confirm that the exposure is comparable to adults. This study is a single dose study with multiple PK/PD measurements in pediatric subjects at the end of their Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) treatment.
NCT00000410
This study tests the effectiveness of different treatments for the three most commonly diagnosed lumbar (lower) spine conditions. The purpose of the study is to learn which of two commonly prescribed treatments (surgery and non-surgical therapy) works better for specific types of low back pain. In this part of the study, people with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation (damage to the tissue between the bones of the lower spine, or backbone) will receive either discectomy (surgical removal of herniated disc material) or non-surgical treatment. This study does not cover the cost of treatment.
NCT01159262
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics (PK) of dexmedetomidine (DEX) at 3 different dose levels in infants, ages ≥28 weeks to ≤44 weeks gestational age, administered as a loading dose followed by a continuous infusion for a minimum of 6 hours and up to 24 hours in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), cardiac intensive care unit (CICU), or pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
NCT00761462
Objective and subjective musculoskeletal evaluations will be performed to determine differences in the ciprofloxacin versus non-quinolone treated pediatric patients so that we can tell what the natural occurrence of such musculoskeletal conditions is in the general pediatric population.
NCT02110979
The objectives of this study are to compare measurements in knowledge of decision options, support for decision making, uncertainly in decision making, and clarity of values important to decision making among two groups of type 2 diabetes patients, those who receive a Patient Decision Aid and those who receive usual care.
NCT00044291
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the first line combination hormonal therapy of an experimental drug, atamestane, plus an FDA-approved drug, toremifene (Fareston®), is more effective than another approved drug, letrozole (Femara®), in delaying the growth of breast cancer in postmenopausal patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer, and whether the side effects of the combination are different from the side effects of letrozole.
NCT02056574
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, single-dose study investigating the safety and efficacy of NA-1 in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) undergoing endovascular repair of ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Up to 300 male and female patients with SAH undergoing endovascular repair of a ruptured intracranial aneurysm will be dosed with 2.60 mg/kg of NA-1 or placebo as a 10 minute intravenous infusion after completion of the endovascular procedure on Day 1 of the study period. Subjects will undergo interim procedures at Day 2-4, Day 30-45, and end-of-study procedures on Day 90.
NCT00071565
The purposes of this study are to identify possible genes that may increase the risk of aneurysm development in the brain, and to determine the effect of environmental factors such as cigarette smoking and high blood pressure on the expression of these genes.
NCT01506401
What is the effect of early high frequency oscillation (HFO) versus a lung-protective conventional ventilation (CV) strategy (using HFO only as rescue therapy), on all-cause hospital mortality among patients with severe early acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)?
NCT00696020
The primary objective of this study is to determine the optimum dose(s) of BI 1744 CL administered with 5 micrograms tiotropium bromide solution for inhalation, delivered by the Respimat inhaler, once daily for four weeks in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
NCT00487188
To assess the efficacy of enfuvirtide (Fuzeon) added to HAART compared to treatment with HAART alone in achieving and maintaining viral load suppression.
NCT00471120
This study aims at developing an accurate, simple, and cost-effective method for screening and early detection of uterine cancers
NCT00720499
The primary objective of this study is to determine the optimum dose(s) of BI 1744 CL administered with 5 microgram tiotropium bromide solution for inhalation, delivered by the Respimat® inhaler, once daily for four weeks in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
NCT01901172
This multicenter, open-label study will evaluate the effect of posaconazole on the pharmacokinetics of RO5503781, the relative bioavailability of two new RO5503781 formulations, and the effect of food on the pharmacokinetics of RO5503781 in patients with solid tumors.
NCT00003636
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining surgery with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy before surgery is more effective than chemotherapy after surgery in treating ovarian, peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying chemotherapy given before surgery to see how well it works compared to chemotherapy given after surgery with or without additional surgery in treating patients with stage III or stage IV ovarian cancer, peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer.
NCT01200303
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of a non-cathartic, computer-assisted form of CT Colonography (Virtual Colonoscopy) for detection of pre-cancerous colon polyps in a group of asymptomatic screening patients.
