NCT00029822
A study to determine the effect on prevention of Acute Urinary Retention (inability to urinate) in males with an enlarged prostate, also known as BPH. * Free study-related medical care provided.
NCT00364078
Transitoriness can be defined as confrontation with life's finitude. Cancer patients are perceived to experience this confrontation due to their diagnosis. It is perceived to impact cancer patients' ways of coping with the disease situation. In this study, cancer patients' levels of uncertainty, transitoriness and their perceived locus of control are assessed. It is aimed at exploring the association of uncertainty, locus of control, transitoriness and quality of life. If a stronger correlation of one or the other issue with quality of life can be discovered, it will inform the development of an adequate evidence-based nursing intervention to better support patients' coping with the disease.
NCT00113204
This is a phase 1 clinical trial to find the safe, maximum tolerated dose of IPI-504 in patients with relapsed and/or relapsed, refractory multiple myeloma. This study will examine how IPI-504 is absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and eliminated by the body. The study will also evaluate potential anti-tumor activity of IPI-504.
NCT00396214
The primary objective of the study is to evaluate changes in weight short and long term with bifeprunox and quetiapine. Study participation for the subject is 57 weeks.
NCT00347425
The study will evaluate the safety and tolerability of switching subjects with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder from their existing antipsychotic medication to Bifeprunox.
NCT00683137
The study was done to evaluate the pain relief and safety of 2 valdecoxib doses compared to placebo in patients with moderate or severe pain following bunionectomy surgery, and to evaluate the effect of the 2 valdecoxib doses compared to placebo on health outcome measures and on the occurrence of opioid related symptoms.
NCT00465296
The primary objective of this clinical trial is to assess the efficacy of rosiglitazone on bare metal stent (BMS) in-stent restenosis measured as late lumen loss in patients with metabolic syndrome. The secondary parameter for evaluation of efficacy is binary restenosis. The tertiary objective will be to assess the effect of rosiglitazone on major cardiac events (MACE; death, MI, CABG, and target vessel revascularization). The occurrence of in-stent restenosis for patients with metabolic syndrome who receive a DES in a non-target lesion will be assessed angiographically at 9 months.
NCT00571077
Patients over the age of 18 with thyroid nodules scheduled for surgery will undergo EIS scan. Each node will be scanned and graded form 1-5 (1=benign, 5=malignant). Results will be compared with final histopathology.
NCT00333333
This research project is studying the causes for low platelet levels in preterm infants. Platelets are a component of blood that helps with clotting. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the cause for low platelet levels is the same in infants who are born to mothers with preeclampsia and infants who are small for gestational age.
NCT00386087
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of enzastaurin in the treatment of patients with metastatic breast cancer.
NCT00093002
The purpose of this study is to evaluate fulvestrant in the preliminary stage of breast cancer treatment and assess the relationship between dose, exposure, degree of reduction in tumor markers, and efficacy in postmenopausal women with estrogen receptor positive disease.
NCT00521625
PALIVE 1 is an observational multicenter study on mechanical ventilation strategies used in children with an acute lung injury (ALI). The objective of the study is to describe mechanical ventilation strategies in children with an ALI. Our hypothesis is that daily clinical practice is heterogenous among pediatric intensivists as few pediatric data exists on optimal mechanical ventilation strategies in this group of patients. Furthermore, different strategies may affect patient outcome.
NCT00683969
The efficacy and safety of CellCept (1g po, bid for 36 weeks) will be assessed in patients with myasthenia gravis receiving prednisone, or other corticosteroids. During the study, patients will undergo gradual corticosteroid dose reduction, if they respond to treatment. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.
NCT00256672
The purpose of this study is to determine whether full-time high dose prophylactic bracing (23 hours or more per day) is more effective than low dose bracing (12 hours or less per day) in preventing or delaying spinal curve progression in children with scoliosis after spinal cord injury.
NCT00345774
This study is being conducted to see if PRX-08066 can lower pulmonary artery pressures in patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
NCT00300924
The purpose of this study is to test an experimental drug combination of two medications currently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for migraine headache or other pain. These are called rizatriptan given with acetaminophen.
NCT00561496
This is a multi-center, pharmacokinetic study involving a single-dose phase, a wash out phase and a two-week once or twice-daily dosing phase for each of 49 volunteers. In the single-dose phase, each volunteer will apply the single dose in the clinic. Participants will be randomized to have cervicovaginal samples and biopsies collected at one of seven time-points \[0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 24 hour(s)\] after the single-dose. Blood samples will be drawn at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 24 hour(s) after the single-dose. In the two-week phase, the study supplies will be distributed and the participants will be randomized to apply each dose either once or twice-daily for two weeks. At the one week follow-up visit a blood sample will be drawn prior to the morning dose to obtain a trough value and cervicovaginal samples will be collected four hours after the morning dose. At the two week follow-up visit blood samples will be drawn prior to the morning dose to obtain a trough value and then at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 24 hour(s) from the final morning dose. Participants will be randomized to have cervicovaginal samples and biopsies collected at either 4, 8 or 24 hours after the final morning dose. Up to 10 participants who have completed the first two phases of the study, will be asked to participate in a third phase to have cervicovaginal samples, biopsies and blood samples collected 12 hours after a single-dose.
NCT00420914
To evaluate the hemostatic efficacy of a low dose platelet transfusion strategy compared to a standard dose platelet transfusion strategy.
NCT00622089
DiObex Inc. is developing an experimental drug (DIO-902) that is made up of part of the ketoconazole molecule for the treatment of elevated blood glucose associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) is a drug available by prescription for the treatment of fungal infections however DIO-902 is an investigational drug. DIO-902 may lower blood glucose by lowering levels of a naturally occurring hormone called cortisol. Elevated cortisol may contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes.
