NCT04838340
Background and Purpose: Hypnobirthing is childbirth education model. This model aims for women to have a painless, calm and more comfortable birth. In this study is aimed to determine the effect of Hypnobirthing training on fear of childbirth, birth pain, birth satisfaction and birth outcomes. Materials and Methods: This randomized controlled experimental study was performed in Maternity Hospital (Bursa, Turkey) . The minimum required sample size to be included in the study will calculated with G\* power. The simple randomization method was use in the assignment of healthy and nulliparous pregnant women at 28-32 weeks of gestation to the groups. The assignment of the participants to the experimental group or control group was carried out with a computer-aided program. The nulliparous women was divided into two groups as the control group contained women who received the hospital's usual care, and the experimental group contained women who received the hypnobirthing training intervention. The fear of birth was measured with the Wijma Birth Expectancy/Experience Scale A and B (W-DEQ); labor pain was measured with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS); birth satisfaction was measured with Short Form of Birth Satisfaction Scale (BSS-R); birth outcomes will measure with postpartum Information form. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program (version 25.00) was use in data analysis.
NCT04876508
In a randomized controlled study to evaluate the effect of acupressure application on opioid-related constipation, the Patient Identification Form, Defecation Diary, Visual Analog Scale and Constipation Quality of Life Scale will be applied after obtaining written informed consent from the patients. Patients in the experimental group will be given acupressure once a day for 7 consecutive days. Acupressure application will be applied by researchers who have been trained and certified on this subject. While the patients are in supine position, pressure will be applied to each acupressure point around the navel, respectively, Zhongwan (CV12), Guanyuan (CV4) and Tianshu (ST25) for 2 minutes for a total of 6 minutes. No attempt will be made to the control group. All patients will be followed for a total of 4 weeks and the Defecation Diary and Visual Comparison Scale will be applied weekly. 4. Constipation Quality of Life Scale will be applied again at the end of the week. The study was planned to examine the effect of acupressure on opioid-related constipation.

NCT00951496
This randomized phase III trial studies bevacizumab and intravenous (given into a vein) chemotherapy to see how well they work compared with bevacizumab and intraperitoneal (given into the abdominal cavity) chemotherapy in treating patients with stage II-III ovarian epithelial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bevacizumab, can block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread by blocking the growth of new blood vessels necessary for tumor growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel, carboplatin, and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. It is not yet known whether giving bevacizumab together with intravenous chemotherapy is more effective than giving bevacizumab together with intraperitoneal chemotherapy in treating patients with ovarian epithelial cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer.
NCT04872361
Ventilated Patients especially those undergoing upper abdominal surgeries are prone to lung atelectasis. They are at risk of adverse effects secondary to inadequate lung ventilation. Applied PEEP and Recruitment maneuver are thought to enhance lung aeration under general anesthesia which could be assessed by ultrasound.
NCT02050022
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive disease that is characterized by loss of lung function, leading to breathlessness, poor quality of life, loss in productivity, and increased mortality. The World Health Organization estimates that COPD will be the third leading cause of death worldwide by 2020, accounting for more than 7 million deaths annually. COPD patients frequently experience 'lung attacks', during which breathlessness, coughing, and sputum production dramatically increase, leading to urgent office visits, emergency admissions and hospitalizations. Lung attacks reduce patient quality of life and cost the Canadian health care system nearly $4 billion dollars each year in direct and indirect costs. Lung attacks can be effectively managed if they are identified and treated early, but symptoms of a lung attack often overlap with those of other common conditions such as heart failure, pneumonia and even influenza. Because there are no tests that can separate lung attacks from these conditions, doctors struggle to accurately diagnose lung attacks at an early stage when drugs are most effective. This can lead to a delayed or even incorrect diagnosis and inappropriate treatment. This research will address this critical need. Our goal is to improve COPD patient care by developing new blood tests that will help identify patients who are in the early stages of a lung attack. Doctors will be able to use these tests to treat lung attacks at earlier stages than is currently possible. These blood tests will enable doctors to personalize management of COPD to meet the needs of the individual patient. Hypothesis: New biomarker blood tests can be used to better identify and manage patients with COPD.
NCT03863886
Although Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are the main subtypes of inflammatory bowel disease, they differ substantially in disease behavior, prognosis, and treatment paradigm. However, making an accurate diagnosis of Crohn's disease versus ulcerative colitis and assessing disease activity beyond the level of mucosal inflammation remain challenging with contemporary modalities. The objective of the study is to determine the novel role of endoscopic ultrasound in A) differentiating Crohn's colitis versus ulcerative colitis and B) monitoring disease activity in these patients.
NCT01852305
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a novel pathway to decrease the cost and waiting time to manage bariatric surgical patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Hypotheses: Compared to the current perioperative pathway, the proposed novel pathway incorporating overnight oximetry and perioperative sleep apnea precautions is safe and more cost effective for evaluating and managing obstructive sleep apnea in the bariatric surgical patients. To decrease the cost and waiting time, we proposed a novel perioperative pathway to manage obstructive sleep apnea in the bariatric patients. In this pathway, the patient will be screened by the STOP-Bang questionnaire. The recruited patients will be randomized into two groups: The STOP-Bang questionnaire score is ≥4 then you will be assigned to any one of these groups * sleep study group (group 1) or * oximetry group (group 2).
NCT01862354
The purpose of this randomized controlled study is to compare the postoperative analgesic effect of a continuous wound infusion of local anesthetics and a sole transverse abdominal plan (TAP) regional block in the surgery of Abdominoplasty Combined With Flank Liposuction. Local anesthetics products used are ropivacaine combined with clonidine. Similar amount of local anesthetics and clonidine are used.
NCT03504670
Artificial rupture of membranes (amniotomy) is a commonly used technique to safely induce and augment labor. It has been shown to reduce the duration of spontaneous and induced labor in term patients (≥37 weeks' gestation). The utility of amniotomy in preterm patients (\<37 weeks' gestation) undergoing medically-indicated induction of labor is unknown. However, it remains a commonly used strategy. We will conduct a trial comparing early amniotomy versus late amniotomy during medically-indicated induction of labor between 23.0 and 35.6 weeks gestation. Women will be randomized to early or late amniotomy after the obstetrician has decided to induce labor for a medical indication. We hypothesize that more women in the early amniotomy group will require cesarean delivery, and the duration of labor will increase in the early amniotomy group.
NCT03971682
This non-randomized controlled trial with a control group aimed to assess the efficacy of a 20-session individualized Compassion Focused Therapy-based intervention, the PSYCHOPATHY.COMP, in reducing psychopathic traits (primary outcomes), aggression, shame, emotion regulation problems, and fears of compassion, as well as in increasing social safeness, self-compassion, and compassion towards others (secondary outcomes). The PSYCHOPATHY.COMP's impact on psychophysiological (i.e., Heart Rate/Heart Rate Variability) and behavioral indicators (i.e., number disciplinary infractions and number of days in punishment) were also tested, in order to ascertain if changes observed in self-report questionnaires were reflected in more adjusted psychophysiological and behavioral patterns. Mental Health disorders, as well as the number of Conduct Disorder criteria, were also tested as moderators of treatment effects.

NCT00536601
This pilot trial studies different high-dose chemotherapy regimens with or without total-body irradiation (TBI) to compare how well they work when given before autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) in treating patients with hematologic cancer or solid tumors. Giving high-dose chemotherapy with or without TBI before ASCT stops the growth of cancer cells by stopping them from dividing or killing them. After treatment, stem cells are collected from the patient's blood or bone marrow and stored. More chemotherapy may be given to prepare for the stem cell transplant. The stem cells are then returned to the patient to replace the blood forming cells that were destroyed by the chemotherapy.
