This phase I clinical trial is studying the side effects and the best dose of vorinostat when given together with paclitaxel and carboplatin in treating patients with metastatic or recurrent solid tumors and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Vorinostat may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving vorinostat together with paclitaxel and carboplatin may kill more tumor cells. NOTE: An administrative decision was made by NCI to halt further study of vorinostat in this specific patient population as of February 1, 2013. No patients remain on vorinostat. Going forward this study will determine the safety and tolerability of the paclitaxel and carboplatin combination in this patient population.

This randomized phase III trial studies sargramostim or vaccine therapy alone to see how well they work compared to sargramostim and vaccine therapy together in preventing disease recurrence in patients with melanoma that has been removed by surgery. Sargramostim may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. Vaccines made from peptides may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. It is not yet known whether yeast derived sargramostim and vaccine therapy are more effective alone or together in preventing recurrence of melanoma.

This study is being done to determine the dose of a chemotherapy drug (irinotecan \[irinotecan hydrochloride\]) that can be tolerated as part of a combination of drugs. There is a combination of chemotherapy drugs often used to treat gastrointestinal cancer, which consists of 5-FU (fluorouracil), leucovorin (leucovorin calcium), irinotecan and oxaliplatin and is known as "FOLFIRINOX". FOLFIRINOX is a current drug therapy combination (or regimen) used for people with advanced pancreatic cancer, although this combination is not Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for this indication. FOLFIRINOX was recently shown in a separate clinical trial to increase survival compared to another commonly used drug in pancreatic cancer called gemcitabine. FOLFIRINOX is also a reasonable regimen for those with other advanced cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, including colon cancer, rectal cancer, esophagus cancer, stomach cancer, gall bladder cancer, bile duct cancer, ampullary cancer, and cancers with an unknown primary location. The best dose of irinotecan to use in FOLFIRINOX is not known. This study will analyze one gene (uridine 5'-diphospho \[UDP\] glucuronosyltransferase 1 family, polypeptide A1 \[UGT1A1\] gene) of subjects for the presence of an alteration in that gene, which may affect how the body handles irinotecan. Genes help determine some of the investigators individual characteristics, such as eye color, height and skin tone. Genes may also determine why people get certain diseases and how medicines may affect them. The result of the genetic analysis will divide subjects into one of three groups: A, B, or C. Group A (approximately 45% of subjects) will receive the standard dose of irinotecan. Group B (approximately 45% of subjects) will receive a lower dose of irinotecan. Group C (approximately 10% of subjects) will receive an even lower dose of irinotecan

This is a pilot study to investigate the effect of danirixin hydrobromide 35 milligram (mg) tablets on lung function and health related quality of life (HRQoL) in subjects with mild to moderate airflow obstruction and a demonstrated history of decline in forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1). Specifically, this study aims to assess whether or not danirixin has the potential to impact disease progression in subjects with a COPD progression score indicating they are likely to decline based on 5 year data from a COPDGene study and support the conduct of a larger Phase III study for disease progression. Subjects will receive either placebo or danirixin 35 mg tablets (as hydrobromide hemihydrate salt) twice daily for 52 weeks (12months). Study subjects will continue with their standard of care inhaled medications (i.e. long acting bronchodilators with or without inhaled corticosteroids) while receiving study treatment. This study will be an ancillary study within the COPDGene study investigating the enrichment strategy for assessing disease progression. Potential subjects most likely to decline from the well established COPDGene cohort, will be based on data collected over the initial 5 year period. With the use of an enriched population, it is anticipated that one year of treatment will be sufficient to detect a trend in altering disease progression. Approximately 130 subjects will be screened to enroll 100 subjects in this study. The data from this study will provide useful information in determining whether to progress to a Phase III study to explore an indication for slowing disease progression.

Use of oral contraceptives (OCs) reduces a woman's risk of ovarian cancer very significantly and the protective effect continues for at least 25 years after use of OCs is stopped; the mechanisms of how this occurs are not understood. We are proposing here to directly study the effect of OCs on the fallopian tube and inclusion cysts within the ovary - sites from which most ovarian cancers are thought to arise - in order to better understand the mechanistic basis for OC protection against ovarian cancer. We think the protection results from reduced cell proliferation. It will lay the foundation for further studies to ensure that the protection against ovarian cancer afforded by 'traditional' OCs is not lost with alterations in OC formulation, and, if possible, to guide development of OC formations to improve further on the protection afforded by OCs.

Duchenne/Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD/BMD) is a genetic disorder that develops in boys. It is caused by a mutation in the gene for dystrophin, a protein that is important for maintaining normal muscle structure and function. Loss of dystrophin causes muscle fragility that leads to weakness and loss of walking ability during childhood and teenage years. A specific type of mutation, called a nonsense (premature stop codon) mutation is the cause of DMD/BMD in approximately 10-15% of boys with the disease. Ataluren (PTC124) is an orally delivered, investigational drug that has the potential to overcome the effects of the nonsense mutation. This study is a Phase 2b extension trial that will evaluate the long-term safety of ataluren (PTC124) in boys with nonsense mutation DMD/BMD, as determined by adverse events and laboratory abnormalities. The study will also assess changes in walking, muscle function, and other important clinical and laboratory measures.

The primary objective of the trial is to show superiority in lung function of once daily (2 inhalations) treatment with orally inhaled tiotropium+olodaterol fixed dose combination to twice daily (one inhalation) treatment with fluticasone propionate+salmeterol fixed dose combination over 12 weeks in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). A Digital Health (DH) exploratory study has been integrated into the main study as a site specific study. The DH exploratory study will be performed at a single site; the site is also participating in the main study. The DH exploratory study site will enter (randomize) approximately 20 patients (subjects) (in addition to the patients to be enrolled in the main study at this site). The patients enrolled in the DH exploratory study are not considered to be part of the main study (i.e. data collected in the DH exploratory study will be analyzed separately from the data collected in the main study).

This is a randomized, double-masked, parallel-group, multi-center study. Subjects diagnosed with POAG or OHT who meet eligibility criteria at Visit 1 (Screening) will wash out their current topical IOP lowering medication(s), if any. After completing the required washout period, subjects will return for Visit 2 (Baseline, Day 1). Subjects who meet all eligibility criteria at Visit 2 (Baseline, Day 1) will be randomized to receive study medication for up to 6 weeks. Approximately 100 subjects with POAG or OHT will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to either: * DE-117 ophthalmic solution 0.002% QD (Once Daily) * DE-117 ophthalmic solution 0.002% BID (Twice Daily) This study will consist of a screening period of up to 35 days including a washout period of up to 28 days (+ 7 days window), and a 6-week double-masked treatment period.
