NCT01345643
Guidelines for blood transfusion have been issued for years. According to these guidelines, red blood cells (RBCs) transfusion should be given when the hemoglobin level is less than 6g/dL or 7g/dL and is unnecessary when the level is more than 10g/dL. However, in all the guidelines, the determination of whether RBCs should be administered when the hemoglobin level is in the range of 7\~10g/dL is based on the judgment from anesthesiologists or surgeons. Index of transfusion trigger for patients with hemoglobin level between 7/dL and 10g/dL is necessary and important in clinical practice. Based on the aim of blood transfusion that maintain the balance of oxygen supply and oxygen consumption, the investigators hypothesize that index of transfusion trigger for patients with hemoglobin level between 7/dL and 10g/dL could be calculated by their history about heart and blood pressure, and routine monitoring parameters including pulse oximetry, temperature, and the use of vasoactive medications. To verify this hypothesis, the investigators present West China Perioperative Transfusion Score (WCPTS) for the trigger of transfusion according to the patient's history and monitoring parameters, and the investigators design a randomized controlled clinical trial to test this score.
NCT04942730
Haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation irrespective of the conditioning and graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis is associated with high frequency of primary and secondary graft failure. Different technologies of with replete or depleted graft are associated with 10-20% of graft failures. Fludarabine and busulfan conditioning is the most commonly used approach for a variety of disease. Furthermore combination of fludarabine and bendamustine was sufficient to facilitate engraftment in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and lymphomas. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether addition of bendamustine to fladarabine and busulfan conditioning reduces the risk of primary graft failure after haploidentical allograft.
NCT05005260
This study aims to assess analgesia efficacy between liposomal bupivacaine single injection interscalene blockade vs. continuous interscalene nerve block for patients undergoing primary total shoulder arthroplasty.
NCT05788419
The aim is to determine whether the game of ice hockey has an effect on structural changes in the hip joint. The parameter to be investigated will be the increased frequency of structural changes of the hip joint in ice hockey players compared to a control group. Participants in the study will undergo MSK sonographic examination of both hip joints followed by functional hip mobility testing. The functional testing consists of three tests. Data will be processed in MS Office in MS Word, and the resulting data will be subject to statistical evaluation.
NCT05853445
Jakavi® therapy for polycythemia vera (PV) has so far been studied exclusively in clinical trials and at selected clinical trial centres. This observational study is intended to document the therapy of PV in daily practice with a broad patient population and a geographically representative selection of German centres (both hospitals and practices). The prospective mapping of daily practice reality is thus the main goal of this project.
NCT06401135
The goal of this study is to investigate the effects of different IMT protocols on respiratory muscle strength, functional exercise capacity, quadriceps femoris muscle strength (QMS), handgrip muscle strength (HGS), QoL, respiratory function, dyspnoea, fatigue, balance, and PA levels in patients with CKD that were not on dialysis.
NCT06321445
Patients applied to the anesthesia clinics of Health Science University Istanbul Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Training and Research Hospital and Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital were included in the study. Evaluation forms which will be filled in every preoperative examinations will be saved in the hospitals systems. Patients datas without indentification informations will be asked to ChatGpt to give anesthesiological risc scores. This scores will be compared with the scores already given by anesthesiologists.
NCT02621515
The effect of nivolumab on symptomatic brain metastases is currently unknown. This phase 2 clinical trial will be the first to evaluate this intracranial effect in humans, with the aim to give these patients the possibility to be treated with anti-PD-1. Besides the objective response rate, long term benefits in this patient category will be evaluated by measuring survival in terms of progression free survival and overall survival. Furthermore safety and tolerability of administration of this drug in patients with symptomatic brain metastases will be studied, as this is the first study for nivolumab in this specific patient category.
NCT05830643
A challenge to Canadian society is the establishment of effective evidence-based interventions to prevent non-consensual sex acts. The Sexual Behaviours Clinic (SBC), located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is an innovative and effective program devoted to the management of adults with persistent problematic sexual interests and behaviours (paraphilias). The primary aim of this project is to test the hypothesis that the SBC's success is due in part to its focus on consent and the enhancement of lawful and fulfilling social relationships (social skills). The study participants will include 60 voluntary male participants who have undergone an intake assessment with the SBC and show signs of paraphilic interests in children (based on the standard SBC intake questionnaire) who will be randomized into a social skills group or a control group focused on adult interests. Participants will attend these groups weekly for 3-months (12-weeks). Outcome measures will include pre-and-post social skills, sexual consent, sexual fantasy, and sexual urges surveys, pre-and-post phallometric testing (to test for objective sexual arousal), qualitative interviews of the study participants, their friends, and family members, and records of recidivism (self-report). Groups will be inclusive of individuals from varying ethnicities, backgrounds, sexual orientations, and intellectual and developmental levels.
NCT05096351
The study investigators propose to perform a blood test before and after allograft placement in all patients receiving a cold-stored venous allografts at the University Hospital of Nîmes to study the occurrence of FVFA-related ASD in these patients. The aim of this work is to characterize a possible immune reaction generated by the implantation of venous allografts prepared according to the BIOPROTEC method. In case of a proven immune reaction, the study will allow a modification of our current attitude and to exclude patients potentially eligible for renal transplantation at the time of venous allograft placement, or to perform in these patients an allo-compatibility test with the venous allograft preoperatively and thus protect these patients from an increased risk of subsequent organ transplant rejection.
NCT03614494
This is a randomised controlled trial aimed at comparing the efficacy of levonorgestrel (LNG) co-administered with piroxicam or placebo for oral emergency contraception (EC). Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used as a pain-killer in inflammatory conditions. Efficacy will be measured as the percentage of pregnancies prevented.
NCT05073172
This clinical trial studies the effect of StrataXRT in preventing and treating radiation dermatitis in breast cancer or head and neck cancer patients. Radiotherapy is often associated with multiple side effects. These side effects can cause patient injury and make it difficult to complete treatment. For example, radiation dermatitis or skin damage may result in severe skin peeling and skin irritation. Depending on the location of radiation, the skin damage can cause problems and be tough to heal. This trial aims to see whether StrataXRT may help to prevent dermatitis after radiation therapy.
NCT04700449
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of CBP-307 in subjects with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis (UC).
NCT06400862
The objective of the study is to establish the safety profile of the autologous engineered osteochondral tissues (eOCT) in treating traumatic chondral lesions in patients.
NCT06400888
The evaluation for efficacy and safety of needle-free subcutaneous injector and conventional intramuscular injection of mecobalamin for diabetic neuropathy.
NCT01472731
Brain tumors account for only 2% of all cancers but result in a disproportionate share of cancer morbidity and mortality. The five-year survival rates for the most common histologic subtypes, anaplastic astrocytoma and glioblastoma (glioblastoma multiforme, GBM), are 30% and 10%, respectively. Drugs affecting transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) might be of great interest for malignant glioma treatment. TGF-β is an oncogenic factor in advanced tumors where it induces proliferation, angiogenesis, invasion, and metastasis as well as suppresses the antitumoral immune response. In addition TGF-β and its TGF-β receptors, TβRI and TβRII, are overexpressed in GBMs. TGF-β signaling is involved in multiple steps of GBM development. GC1008 is an antibody that is capable of neutralizing TGF-β and may therefore offer a new treatment option for patients with malignant glioma. For therapeutic success, it may be essential for GC1008 to reach the target site, in this case located in the brain. We will be able to prove this with 89Zr-GC1008 PET imaging. This imaging method also allows quantification of the amount of GC1008 reaching the tumor. This study consists of 2 parts. In part 1, patients with a suspicion of a malignant glioma undergo an 89Zr-GC1008 PET scan before standard (surgical)treatment. In part 2, patients with relapsed malignant glioma will undergo an 89Zr-GC1008 PET scan and will be treated with GC1008 in a phase II study as there is no standard treatment for these patients. We hypothesize that GC1008 uptake in brain tumors can be visualized and quantified using the 89Zr-GC1008 PET scan and GC1008 might offer a new treatment option for patients with relapsed malignant gliomas.
