NCT01028716
This phase II trial studies how well donor peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) transplant works in treating patients with hematologic malignancies. Cyclophosphamide when added to tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil is safe and effective in preventing severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in most patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing transplantation of bone marrow from half-matched (haploidentical) donors. This approach has extended the transplant option to patients who do not have matched related or unrelated donors, especially for patients from ethnic minority groups. The graft contains cells of the donor's immune system which potentially can recognize and destroy the patient's cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Rejection of the donor's cells by the patient's own immune system is prevented by giving low doses of chemotherapy (fludarabine phosphate and cyclophosphamide) and total-body irradiation before transplant. Patients can experience low blood cell counts after transplant. Using stem cells and immune cells collected from the donor's circulating blood may result in quicker recovery of blood counts and may be more effective in treating the patient's disease than using bone marrow.

NCT05693207
The main goal of this study is to evaluate, via EMG (electromyography) system, the muscle activity in the lower limbs, to understand the contribution of the muscle activity to FOG (freezing of gait) in Parkinson's patients. The phenomenon of FOG appears in advanced cases of Parkinson's disease (PD) and can lead to an increased risk of falls. There are several approaches claiming that there is abnormal activity in the calf muscles and the freezing events in Parkinson's patients. In the clinic, monitoring FOG is done subjectively, usually through observations or through questionnaires. As a result, the information about the phenomenon may be biased and insensitive. With an electromyographic monitor (EMG), objective information about the muscular activity during normal walking and during unusual events can be obtained.

NCT05504525
Postoperative analgesia is essential for early ambulation of patients with hip arthroplasties as well as decreasing hospital stay time. Fascial plane blocks are emerging as a gold standard for postoperative analgesia instead of opioids and NSAIDs, with all there side effects. The investigators aim to compare postoperative pain levels and opioid analgesic needs of fascia iliaca block versus quadratus lumborum block in patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty under general anesthesia.
NCT05691959
The goal of this randomized double blind controlled trial is to learn about the effects of calcium when it is given prior to diltiazem for patients with atrial fibrillation ( a type of irregular heart beat) who have rapid ventricular response ( a pulse over 100 beats per minute). Normally diltiazem 0.25mg/kg (max 20mg) is given to slow the heart rate. We will give Placebo versus Calcium Gluconate 2gm given prior to diltiazem. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does calcium decrease the incidence of low blood pressure (a side effect of diltiazem)? * How does calcium effect the action of diltiazem? Does it interfere with the desired decrease in heart rate? Participants will receive either placebo or calcium immediately prior to the administration of diltiazem. Their blood pressure and pulse will be measured: * prior to study drug administration * post study drug and prior to diltiazem administration * 3 minutes post start of diltiazem * 5 minutes post start of diltiazem * 10 minutes post start of diltiazem * 20 minutes post start of diltiazem * 30 minutes post start of diltiazem Researchers will compare the placebo group to the calcium group to see if there is a difference in the blood pressure and pulse.
NCT05342103
Chest trauma remains an issue for health services for both severe and apparently mild trauma management. Severe chest trauma is associated with high mortality and is liable for 25% of mortality in multiple traumas. Moreover, mild trauma is also associated with significant morbidity, especially in patients with preexisting conditions. Thus, whatever the severity, a fast-acting strategy must be organized. In order to improve the prognosis of patients with severe chest trauma, early and continuous application of non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIV) can indeed reduce the need for intubation and shorten intensive care unit length-of-stay. Among different mechanisms, the early use of positive end-expiratory pressure after chest trauma, when feasible, seems mandatory to optimize oxygenation and improve clinical outcomes. Indeed, interventions aimed at preventing ARDS after chest trauma carry the greatest potential to reduce the substantial morbidity, mortality, and resource utilization associated with this syndrome.
NCT04333498
This is a prospective, pilot study of HIV-positive individuals who have been on tenofovir-containing antiretroviral therapy for at least 4 months. The overall goal of this research is to determine the feasibility of giving patients and their providers monthly feedback about Tenofovir-Diphosphate (TFV-DP) drug levels and to examine patient and provider behaviors in response to receiving this information. This study will build upon the Aim 1 observational study and the subsequent patient and providerFeedback Development Workgroups (FDWs).
NCT04454424
BAY1817080 is currently under clinical development to treat pain related to unexplained chronic cough or chronic cough not affected by a treatment (refractory and/or unexplained chronic cough, RUCC), or a condition where the bladder is unable to hold urine normally (overactive bladder, OAB) or a condition in which tissue similar to the tissue that normally lines the inside of the womb grows outside the womb (endometriosis). In this study researchers want to learn more about the safety of BAY1817080, how it is tolerated and the way the body absorbs, distributes and gets rid of the study dug given as tablet in participants with mild, moderate or severe hepatic impairment and participants with normal liver function matched for age-, gender-, weight and race. The study will enroll 36 male and female participants in the age between 18 and 79 years. Participants with mild or moderate hepatic impairment and the matching participants will take multiple oral doses of study drug depending on the study plan. Participants with severe hepatic impairment and the matching participants will take a single oral dose of study drug during the study. Data from this study will provide researcher important information for further development of the study drug in particular on dose recommendation for patients with hepatic impairment.
NCT05691556
Cerebral Palsy is the most common cause of motor disability in children. It can lead to a deficit of the upper limb which alters the realization of daily activities, in particular in bimanual situations, and eventually leads to a decrease in their participation. Three-dimensional (3D) movement analysis is a tool that provides an accurate and objective measurement of movement. This technology allows us to understand and characterize movement anomalies in order to guide and adapt therapies to the upper limb. The majority of 3D upper limb analysis protocols used to measure the effect of interventions, such as botulinum toxin injections indicated for the treatment of spasticity or other innovative rehabilitative therapies, are unimanual and do not study bimanual function, which is more representative of the actual use of the upper limbs in daily life. Recently, a 3D bimanual analysis protocol called "Be An Airplane Pilot" (BE-API), taking place in an innovative play context, has been developed and validated in PC children. The 2nd version of the protocol (BE API 2.0) also allowed the exploration of new parameters in a bimanual situation such as the fluidity and the trajectory of the movement. In order to determine the interest of the BE API 2.0 protocol in routine clinical evaluation of the upper limbs, its sensitivity to change, i.e. its capacity to detect modifications caused by a therapy on the movements of the upper limbs is necessary (e.g.: Hand and Arm Bimanual Intensive Therapy Including Lower Extremity (HABIT ILE), botulinum toxin injections).

They will also be asked to complete questionnaires to determine how their skin condition affects their life. Study participation will last for 1 day, with potential for follow-up in the future. We hope this information will help us improve our treatment for this skin condition.
NCT03072134
Malignant gliomas have a very poor prognosis with median survival measured in months rather than years. It is a disease in great need of novel therapeutic approaches. Based on the encouraging results of our preclinical studies which demonstrate improved efficacy without added toxicity, the paradigm of delivering a novel oncolytic adenovirus via a neural stem cell line in combination with radiation and chemotherapy is well-suited for evaluation in newly diagnosed malignant gliomas. The standard-of-care allows application of virotherapy as neoadjuvant therapy and assessment of the cooperative effects with radiation/chemotherapy without altering the standard treatment.
