RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effect on the body of combining cyclophosphamide with cisplatin, etoposide, and bleomycin in treating children who have newly diagnosed malignant germ cell tumors that are not in the brain and gonads.
NCT00726713
The purpose of this research study is to determine if Metanx improves sensory neuropathy in persons with Type 2 diabetes. Metanx is a medical food available with a prescription from a physician. It consists of L-methylfolate, Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, and Methylcobalamin, which are the active forms of folate, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12, respectively. Subjects will be randomly assigned to receive either Metanx or placebo for 6 months.
NCT00277524
The purpose of the OMNI study is to characterize therapy and diagnostic utilization in study participants implanted with study devices and to describe Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator(ICD)therapy utilization for life threatening arrhythmias in primary and secondary prevention study participants. This study will assess therapies in Medtronic pacemaker, defibrillator, and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices. The first therapy is for reducing unnecessary pacing in pacemaker patients. The second therapy provides pacing therapy in an attempt to stop fast or life threatening ventricular arrhythmias in lieu of delivering a defibrillation shock. The third therapy is a diagnostic measurement of a patient's fluid status and provides the physician information on the patient's heart failure status. The study will also assess the time to a patient's first defibrillation shock and will verify that the shock was for a fast or life threatening ventricular rhythm.
NCT00019422
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Lobradimil may increase the effectiveness of a chemotherapy drug by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of carboplatin and lobradimil in treating children with brain tumors that have not responded to previous treatment.
NCT01555333
This study will enroll subjects who have completed Protocols 209FX301, 209FX302, or are currently participating in Protocol 2202 into a long-term study in which all subjects will receive active drug (arbaclofen).
NCT00617461
The purpose of this study is evaluate the difference between two doses of gabapentin enacarbil (XP13512/GSK1838262), hereafter referred to as GEn, on pain associated with post-herpetic neuralgia.
NCT00003811
RATIONALE: Chemotherapy drugs use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Chemoprotective drugs such as amifostine may protect normal cells from the side effects of chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of high-dose cisplatin, etoposide, and bleomycin plus amifostine in treating children who have malignant germ cell tumors.
NCT00006093
RATIONALE: EMD 121974 may stop the growth of cancer by stopping blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of EMD 121974 in treating patients who have progressive or recurrent malignant glioma.
NCT00006268
RATIONALE: Immunotoxins can locate tumor cells and kill them without harming normal cells. This may be an effective treatment for malignant glioma. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of immunotoxin therapy in treating patients who have malignant glioma.
NCT00930787
Support of a ventral hernia repair with a prosthetic mesh has been demonstrated to result in a diminished rate of hernia recurrence. The patient with co-morbidities undergoing hernia repair is at increased risk of wound related complications, which may be exacerbated by the choice of prosthetic mesh, and which are known to influence the ultimate rate of hernia recurrence. It is hypothesized that patients receiving a mesh of biologic origin may experience fewer wound related complications and hence at least an equal rate of hernia recurrence, compared to those receiving a synthetic mesh.
NCT00714493
The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of treatment in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who are having an inadequate response to at least 3 months of treatment with etanercept or adalimumab in addition to methotrexate.
NCT01273090
RATIONALE: Imetelstat sodium may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase I clinical trial is studying the side effects and best dose of imetelstat sodium in treating young patients with refractory or recurrent solid tumors or lymphoma.
NCT01586533
This double-blind, randomized, comparator-controlled Phase II study is designed to establish the safety and efficacy of Zoenasa Rectal Gel compared to mesalamine enema in subjects with left-sided ulcerative colitis, as measured by the modified ulcerative colitis disease activity index (UCDAI), over 6 weeks of treatment. In this study, two cohorts of subjects will receive either Zoenasa-1:4 (1.0g NAC; 4.0g 5-ASA) investigational drug enema therapy or comparator mesalamine enema (4.0g 5-ASA). The study will enroll subjects randomized equally into the 2 cohorts. Each cohort will enroll approximately 60 subjects. The two arms of the trial will be enrolled concurrently in a randomized fashion.
NCT00003203
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and vincristine, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining carboplatin and vincristine with radiation therapy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy followed adjuvant chemotherapy in treating young patients who have newly diagnosed high-risk CNS embryonal tumors.
NCT01375127
This is an observational study designed to collect follow-up clinical date on subjects who were treated with tofacitinib in 2 completed Phase 2 studies who either discontinued treatment prematurely or did not elect to enroll in long-term extension studies.
NCT00005958
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Colony-stimulating factors such as filgrastim may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood and may help a person's immune system recover from the side effects of chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy with gemcitabine and docetaxel plus filgrastim in treating patients who have locally recurrent or advanced urothelium cancer.
NCT00085345
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as melphalan, arsenic trioxide, and ascorbic acid, work in different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Arsenic trioxide and ascorbic acid may also help melphalan kill more cancer cells by making them more sensitive to the drugs. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving melphalan together with arsenic trioxide and ascorbic acid works in treating patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
NCT01337154
The goal of this study is to determine the progression-free survival and objective response rate in subjects with either stage IIIB with pleural effusion NSCLC or stage IV NSCLC who are treated with up to six cycles of paclitaxel plus carboplatin and either tamibarotene or placebo. Subjects will be randomly assigned to receive tamibarotene, 6 mg/m2, divided as twice daily orally, or an equal number of matching placebo tablets, starting 1 week before chemotherapy and continuing through all 6 cycles and beyond. Subjects will be assessed for response on Day 50, Day 113, then every other month using the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST 1.1).
