NCT00642499
The primary purpose of this study is to determine if dronabinol is effective in preventing or treating nausea caused by HAART (highly active anti-retroviral therapy) in HIV and AIDS patients
NCT00220909
The primary objective of this study is to determine whether lansoprazole, administered intravenously, can protect patients undergoing cardiac surgery from the development of and/or progression of previously undetected acid/peptic disorders (erosive esophagitis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, diffuse gastritis, duodenitis) as measured by the Lanza score and LA classification for esophageal injury. The secondary objectives of this study are: 1. To determine if intravenous lansoprazole protects against the development of clinically important gastrointestinal bleeding in this population (overt bleeding or requiring blood transfusion). 2. To determine if intravenous lansoprazole maintains the intragastric pH above that for placebo throughout the study period.
NCT00292422
This Phase 2a study is designed to evaluate the safety and tolerability of multiple subcutaneous (SC) doses of BG9924, administered in a cohort dose-escalation fashion, in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who have had an inadequate response to therapy with disease-modifying anti rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and who may have undergone anti-TNF therapy. This study will assist with dose selection for further planned Phase 2 studies.
NCT00047723
The purpose of this trial is to test the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of minocycline compared to placebo in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
NCT00074620
The study will look at the safety profile (unwanted effects) of the long-lasting anticoagulant PEG-hirudin (SPP200) and compare these unwanted effects to those of unfractionated heparin, commonly used in haemodialysis to avoid clotting of the graft and of the haemodialysis machine.
NCT00064623
The purpose of the study is to determine if an investigational drug, NGX-4010 (high-concentration capsaicin patch), is effective in treating painful HIV-associated neuropathy.
NCT00627328
Prospective study assessing the incidence of atrial high rate episodes (AHRE) in pacemaker patients with and without previously diagnosed AT.
NCT00139282
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a degenerative eye disease of the retina that causes a progressive loss of central vision. AMD is the leading cause of blindness among adults age 50 or older in the Western world. AMD presents in two different types: "dry" and the more severe "wet" form. Wet AMD is caused by the growth of abnormal blood vessels in the macula. Squalamine lactate is an investigational drug that may prevent the growth of these abnormal blood vessels. This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of Squalamine lactate in the treatment of AMD in patients, the exact number of which will be determined based on data from the sponsor's ongoing Phase 2 trials. The trial objective is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of two doses of Squalamine lactate for Injection administered as intravenous infusions weekly for 4 weeks followed by maintenance doses every 4 weeks through week 104 compared with the safety and efficacy in the control group.
NCT00366002
This study will evaluate safety, efficacy and patient's perception of outcome after treatment with darifenacin (7.5 mg once daily (o.d.) with voluntary increase up to 15 mg o.d.) in patients with OAB who are dissatisfied with prior oxybutynin extended release (ER) or tolterodine extended release (ER) therapy.
NCT00318331
Glutamine is an amino acid which is rapidly depleted in critical illness. It is used as energy by cells that line the gut, vital for immune system function, and works as an anti-oxidant. Glutamine supplementation has been shown to improve outcomes in ICU patients. We hypothesize that critically ill patients given extra glutamine will have less of an inflammatory response and therefore better outcomes than patients not given extra glutamine. Our study randomizes patients to tube feeding with OR without extra glutamine to see if it affects patient outcomes as well as markers of inflammation.
NCT00293956
This study was designed to evaluate the level of certain hormones (thyroid hormones and cortisol) in full term or close to full term infants who have respiratory distress severe enough to require respiratory support. The purpose of this study is to determine if there is a relationship between these hormone levels and how sick these infants are who require help with breathing following birth. Hypothesis: Infants who are born full term or near full term and who have low hormone levels will have higher severity of illness.
NCT00323102
This study aims at a direct comparison between Multihance and a validated comparator like Omniscan in a cross-over individual design in patients with brain tumors to confirm the superior overall diagnostic performance of MuliHance for this indication
NCT00002057
To determine a safe, effective, and convenient dosing schedule for nystatin pastilles in the prevention of oral candidiasis in patients with AIDS or AIDS related complex (ARC) (group III or IV, CDC classification).
NCT00002293
To determine a safe, effective, and convenient dosing schedule for nystatin pastilles in the prophylaxis of oral candidiasis in patients with AIDS or AIDS related syndromes (group III or IV, CDC classification)
NCT00458146
The purpose of this study is to determine whether MM-093 is safe and effective in the treatment of RA.
NCT00061776
The purpose of the study is determine if an investigational drug, NGX-4010 (high-concentration capsaicin dermal patches) is effective in treating pain associated with post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).
NCT00600327
The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety of the NexStent for treatment of carotid artery lesions undergoing stenting with adjunctive use of the FilterWire distal embolic protection device. The rates will be compared to an Objective Performance Criterion (OPC) derived from historic data from high-risk patients undergoing surgical intervention with Carotid endarterectomy. Patients included in this study are those at higher risk for complications associated with CEA.
NCT00226668
The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and efficacy of XERECEPT (human Corticotropin-Releasing Factor, or hCRF) compared to dexamethasone in patients with primary malignant glioma who require increased dexamethasone doses to control symptom of peritumoral brain edema.
NCT00005007
This study will determine if the drug etanercept, also called Enbrel, is effective in producing and maintaining remission (reduction of disease symptoms) of Wegener's granulomatosis (WG). Etanercept blocks the action of tumor necrosis factor-alpha, a substance that may be involved in inflammatory conditions such as WG. Eight clinical centers around the United States will enroll 181 people who have WG. Patients will have an equal chance to receive either etanercept or placebo (inactive treatment). We will treat patients with standard medications for WG in addition to either etanercept or placebo. We will treat all patients with tapering doses of corticosteroids. After the patients' disease is controlled (in remission), we will reduce the dosages of the standard medications to lower the risk of side effects associated with these drugs. During the study, we will collect and save blood and tissues samples from patients and use the samples to address other medical questions, such as the cause of WG and factors that lead to disease progression.
NCT00201981
The purpose of this study is to determine the potential safety and effectiveness of rebamipide eye drops, an investigational eye drop being developed for the treatment of keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye).
