NCT01140217
The purpose of this study is to determine whether NEA TDS is effective in the prevention of pregnancy. The safety of this product will also be evaluated.
NCT01097135
Surgical skin complications can be costly and could contribute to extended in-patient stay following total joint replacement or even the need for re-admission. If efficacy in reducing the incidence of post-operative wound drainage and, in turn, surgical wound complications can be demonstrated, it may also reduce the length of hospital stay and the need for revision surgery or readmission. The aim of this research is to investigate the incidence of post-operative wound drainage following elective total joint arthroplasty using two surgical skin preparation protocols.
NCT00277524
The purpose of the OMNI study is to characterize therapy and diagnostic utilization in study participants implanted with study devices and to describe Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator(ICD)therapy utilization for life threatening arrhythmias in primary and secondary prevention study participants. This study will assess therapies in Medtronic pacemaker, defibrillator, and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices. The first therapy is for reducing unnecessary pacing in pacemaker patients. The second therapy provides pacing therapy in an attempt to stop fast or life threatening ventricular arrhythmias in lieu of delivering a defibrillation shock. The third therapy is a diagnostic measurement of a patient's fluid status and provides the physician information on the patient's heart failure status. The study will also assess the time to a patient's first defibrillation shock and will verify that the shock was for a fast or life threatening ventricular rhythm.
NCT00003203
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and vincristine, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining carboplatin and vincristine with radiation therapy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy followed adjuvant chemotherapy in treating young patients who have newly diagnosed high-risk CNS embryonal tumors.
NCT00019422
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Lobradimil may increase the effectiveness of a chemotherapy drug by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of carboplatin and lobradimil in treating children with brain tumors that have not responded to previous treatment.
NCT01926756
This is a prospective randomized controlled trial to look into the reduction of catheter associated urinary tract infections in the postoperative period. It will specifically look at short gynecologic procedures such as D\&C (dilation and curettage), hysteroscopies and LEEP procedures and the need to perform intraoperative catheterization. If a patient urinates immediately before a short operation then there is no need to drain the bladder with a catheter during the procedure. The investigators hypothesize that eliminating catheterization during these short procedures may decrease postoperative urinary tract infections. The hope is that this study would provide evidence to support a change in practice.
NCT00823368
The subjects that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria and consent to participate in protocol 22001 will be offered participation in 22001A which will evaluate secreted protein before and after treatment with STX209 and placebo to determine if they correlate with effectiveness of treatment or susceptibility to treatment with STX209. These same subjects will also be asked to contribute a blood sample for DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) collection. The investigators will study the DNA to determine if STX209 works better in people with specific gene variations, or to find new gene variations that predict how well STX209 works.
NCT01555333
This study will enroll subjects who have completed Protocols 209FX301, 209FX302, or are currently participating in Protocol 2202 into a long-term study in which all subjects will receive active drug (arbaclofen).
NCT00676533
The primary objective of this clinical trial was to determine the time to improvement of the signs and symptoms (eg, dysuria, frequency, urgency, gross hematuria, suprapubic pain, hesitancy, low back pain) of acute, uncomplicated, symptomatic, lower UTIs in women treated with Cipro XR 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
NCT00714493
The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of treatment in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who are having an inadequate response to at least 3 months of treatment with etanercept or adalimumab in addition to methotrexate.
NCT00282256
A study to assess the pharmacokinetics, safety and effectiveness of tacrolimus in stable pediatric liver transplant patients converted from a Prograf® based immunosuppression regimen to a modified release tacrolimus based immunosuppression regimen.
NCT00292292
The Kineflex Spinal System is no worse than the Charite Spinal System in patients with single level degenerative disc disease at L4/5 or L5/S1.
NCT01701375
1.1 Primary Objectives * To determine the feasibility, tolerability, and toxicities of administering the selective CDK 4/6 inhibitor PD 0332991 prior to the combination of ara-C and Mitoxantrone for adults with relapsed and refractory acute leukemias and high risk myelodysplasias (MDS), including primary refractory disease * To determine the direct cytotoxic effects of single agent PD 0332991 on malignant blasts * To determine the maximal tolerated dose (MTD) of PD 0332991 in timed sequential combination with ara-C and Mitoxantrone * To determine if the timed sequential combination of PD 0332991 with ara-C and mitoxantrone can induce clinical responses in adults with relapsed or refractory acute leukemias and high-risk MDS 1.2 Secondary Objectives: * To determine the ability of PD 0332991 to directly induce apoptosis in malignant cell populations in vivo * To obtain pharmacodynamic (PD) data regarding the ability of PD 0332991 to arrest malignant cells in the G 1 phase of cell cycle, followed by synchronized release of those cells into S phase upon discontinuation of PD 0332991 and resultant enhanced ara-C cytotoxicity
NCT00617461
The purpose of this study is evaluate the difference between two doses of gabapentin enacarbil (XP13512/GSK1838262), hereafter referred to as GEn, on pain associated with post-herpetic neuralgia.
NCT00083187
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as VNP40101M and hydroxyurea, work in different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Hydroxyurea may help VNP40101M kill more cancer cells by making cancer cells more sensitive to the drug. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving VNP40101M with hydroxyurea works in treating patients with acute myelogenous leukemia or high-risk myelodysplasia.
NCT00336492
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of infliximab (Remicade) in children with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis.
NCT01308424
The purpose of this study is to determine if a new treatment is effective for the treatment of recurrent symptomatic oral herpes virus infections.
NCT01737333
Collection of data from different sites regardless of whether they use standard or tailored protocols for the application of high concentration iodinated contrast agents to assess if the individually patient-adapted protocols result in a similar diagnostic image quality.
NCT00361634
The purpose of this study is to assess whether DCE-MRI can detect changes of active disease in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients after 4, 8 and 12 weeks of etanercept.
NCT01960647
The primary objective of this prospective, Randomized, Controlled, Multicentre, Open Study is to investigate the inhibition of restenosis by the Paclitaxel-eluting Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) balloon Freeway versus PTA alone in the treatment of de-novo occluded, stenotic or reoccluded, restenotic superficial femoral (SFA) or popliteal arteries.
