NCT00323518
CG53135-05 (velafermin), a recombinant human fibroblast growth factor-20 (rhFGF-20) protein, is under investigation for the prevention of oral mucositis. Oral mucositis is a commonly occurring side effect of high-dose chemotherapy in patients undergoing autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant. The objective of this Phase II trial is to confirm the safety and efficacy of CG53135-05 (velafermin) when administered as a single dose to patients at risk for developing oral mucositis.
NCT00730730
The purpose of this study is to show if a new delivery system with a modified stent is safe in treating occluded iliac arteries in patients with peripheral vascular disease. The modified Complete SE delivery system is hypothesized to assist physicians with more accurate stent placement reducing the likelihood of stent 'jumping' seen with the use of many self-expanding stent systems.
NCT00753337
The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Assurant Cobalt Iliac Stent System in the treatment of de novo and restenotic lesions in iliac arteries of subjects with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD).
NCT02255123
This study is a multicenter, non-randomized, retrospective study to collect long term (4 years post-transplant) clinical outcome data on subjects previously enrolled in the CTOT-05 study (NCT00466804) to evaluate participant and graft survival.
NCT00507663
This study proposes a prospective randomized study of elders undergoing elective major abdominal surgery to assess recovery following a unique anesthetic regimen incorporating a adrenergic receptor antagonist. The purposes of this study are to: 1. to determine if using atenolol, a beta-blocker drug commonly used to treat high blood pressure and heart disease, as part of your anesthetic regimen will decrease complications that sometimes occur in elderly patients who are undergoing surgery and being given anesthesia. 2. to see if it improves or quickens your recovery from anesthesia and surgery. 3. to help investigators design better ways to administer anesthesia during surgery, especially in elderly patients, so that the complications and the time to recover from surgery and anesthesia can be decreased.
NCT02180893
Pain after robotic cardiac surgery is a known problem and is often difficult to manage. Paravertebral nerve blocks are a proven method of pain relief following thoracotomy. A paravertebral block has been shown to provide good pain relief with minimal side effects, however, paravertebral blocks for robotic surgery have not been well studied. Currently the investigators routinely perform PVB on this patient population (of 50 MV robotic cases done between January and October 2012, 36 received paravertebral blocks with no adverse events noted). The investigators believe this should be studied further and that paravertebral blocks will reduce the amount of additional pain medication patients require in the first 24 hours after surgery, decrease intubation time and improve PACU and hospital discharge times.
NCT01227642
In standard treatment, the seeds are placed throughout the prostate to treat the entire prostate. This is done because it was impossible to know where the cancer was located within the prostate. A new technique has been developed using the same ultrasound imaging that you probably had when you had your biopsy. Using this technique, areas likely to contain prostate cancer can be identified. In this early study of 15 subjects, we will test if this method to plan your prostate seed implant is safe and can be done as part of regular care. Areas identified as suspicious for cancer will be treated with higher doses of radiation while those areas not demonstrating cancer will be treated to the standard minimum dose. The higher dose areas will receive two times the minimum dose the prostate usually receives. Because this technique is not perfect, those areas not identified as cancerous should be treated in case there is a cancer area that the technique did not identify. Subjects enrolled in this study will then be followed with this ultrasound technique over the next two years to monitor the changes to the cancerous areas and will undergo a biopsy two years after the procedure. Subjects will, of course, be monitored to assess the success of the technique and its side effects.
NCT00498927
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well temozolomide works in treating patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme or other malignant glioma.
NCT01953679
To compare the pharmacodynamic effects of 2 continuous dose regimens of ulipristal acetate 5.0 and 10.0 mg-only oral contraception, versus a 24/4 day regimen of UPA 5.0 mg.
NCT01343667
The objective of this study is to provide an ongoing evaluation of clinical outcomes associated with the GORE Flow Reversal System and the GORE Embolic Filter when used for embolic protection during carotid artery stenting.
NCT00023530
The purpose of this network is to accelerate research in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation by comparing novel therapies to existing ones.
NCT02436616
The study utilizes microEEG (a novel miniaturized, FDA approved EEG device) to prospectively investigate the cerebral electrical activity of infants with Apnea, Bradycardia and Desaturation events. This project will also assess the feasibility of using the microEEG device in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting and the feasibility of remote centralized interpretation in this setting.
NCT01911351
Title: High-concentration continuous flow nitrous oxide use for procedural-induced pain or anxiety during pediatric minor procedures. Objective: To assess whether the use of high-concentration continuous flow nitrous oxide in addition to standard management increases the comfort level in pediatric patients undergoing minor procedures compared to standard management alone.
NCT01433354
The purpose of this study is to generate long-term safety, tolerability and efficacy data for AFQ056 in eligible adolescent patients with FXS who have participated in the CAFQ056B2214 study, the PK study CAFQ056B2131, or another study of AFQ056 which included FXS patients below 18 years of age provided the patient is at least 12 years of age at the time of entry into the current study.

NCT00326664
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of AZD2171 in treating young patients with recurrent, progressive, or refractory primary CNS tumors. AZD2171 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
NCT00609180
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and acute lung injury (ALI) are medical conditions that occur when there is severe inflammation and increased fluids in both lungs, making it difficult for the lungs to function properly. Hospital treatment for a person with ALI/ARDS often includes the use of a breathing machine, or ventilator, until the person is able to breathe without assistance. Initiating proper nutrition through a feeding tube early in a person's hospital stay may help to improve recovery, but the optimal timing, composition, and amount of feeding treatments are unknown. This study will evaluate whether early or delayed full-calorie feeding through a feeding tube is more effective in reducing recovery time and increasing survival rates in people with ALI/ARDS. The study will also determine whether supplementing the feedings with omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants benefits people with ALI/ARDS.
