NCT04336072
This feasibility study investigates the impact of reminder-focused-positive-psychiatry (RFPP) on attention-deficit-hyperactive-disorder (ADHD) and posttraumatic-stress-disorder (PTSD) symptoms, vascular-function, inflammation and well-being of adolescents with comorbid ADHD \& PTSD. In this randomized clinical trial, 24 subjects with comorbid ADHD and PTSD, aged 12-18 years old, free of known medical and other major psychiatric disorders, will be recruited from the pool of eligible subjects at Los Angeles and Kern County Children Mental Health Centers (\>1500 subjects) after obtaining informed consent from parents as well as subjects' assentment. Commonwealth and Oswell Kern County Mental Health Clinic will be used for subjects enrollment, randomization as well as study implementation from trauma disorder clinic. Kern Medical will be used for manuscript write up and analyses. Adolescents will be randomized to: group-RFPP or trauma-focused group-cognitive-behavioral-therapy (TF-CBT). Participants will complete twice-weekly-intervention for 6-weeks-trial. The group-RFPP-intervention will be inclusive of RFPP interventions on a) traumatic-reminders, and b Avoidance \& negative-cognition. Vascular-function-measured as temperature-rebound (TR), C-reactive-protein (CRP), homocysteine, SNAP-questionnaire, Clinician-Administered PTSD-Scale-children-version (CAPS-CA) and neuropsychiatric-measures will be measured at baseline and 6th week. Subjects will be followed for 12 months. Parents and subjects will be informed of the risks associated with use of venipuncture and loss of confidentiality of collected information.
NCT02541929
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an essential omega-3 fish oil. DHA is critical to the structure and function of brain cells. DHA fish oil has been shown to be beneficial in cognition in several animal studies; however, this effect in human studies is not clear. It is not known how much dietary fish oil can get into the human brain. Thus, exploring fish oil delivery in human brains is critical for designing appropriate interventions.
NCT04319458
Although rates of depression are similar in Latinx populations compared to non-Latinx whites (NLW), there are significant disparities in service utilization. Mental health literacy - one's knowledge and attitudes about mental health and treatment-seeking - is a significant predictor of help-seeking behavior and likely contributes to mental health disparities among Latinx. Understanding ways to improve mental health literacy in Latinx populations is important to reducing these disparities. Health literacy interventions that are engaging, dramatic, and culturally-relevant, such as fotonovelas (graphic novels designed to change health-related knowledge and attitudes), show promise in changing mental health literacy in Latinx populations. However, little is known about how these interventions work and for whom they are most effective. Furthermore, although there is some evidence that fotonovelas can change mental health attitudes and intent to seek treatment, their impact on help-seeking behavior is less understood. The purpose of this study is to examine 1) if narrative and cultural elements of a fotonovela for Latinx with depression (i.e., transportation, identification, and social proliferation) are important mediators in changing mental health attitudes and help-seeking behaviors and 2) if factors such as rurality, acculturation, depression severity and logistic barriers to treatment moderate these relationships.
NCT04306081
Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a manifestation of systemic atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and is associated with increase cardiovascular risk. PAD impairs quality of life due to symptoms of claudication, pain at rest or risk of limb loss. All major societies recognize the importance of LDL reduction in patients with PAD. Statin therapy improves cardiovascular end-points in patients with PAD and have been shown to improve symptoms of lower extremity intermittent claudication (pain free walking time), 6-minute walking time, ankle-brachial index (ABI), and endothelial function, while decreasing markers of atherosclerosis. This study aims to demonstrate that in patients with PAD on stable maximal tolerated lipid lowering regimen with a statin, further reduction of LDL with the pro protein converts subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK-9) inhibitor Evolocumab, improves functional status (pain free walking time in particular, but also maximal walking time), lower extremity arterial perfusion and endothelial function (brachial endothelial reactivity).
NCT00160641
An open ended study in which patients who completed the preceding double-blind study NCT00160602 are given Certolizumab Pegol and assessed for signs and symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
NCT01726270

NCT04300907
A study of the use of the Provant Infinity Therapy System when treatment is administered 30 minutes twice daily for 8-weeks (56 days ± 3 days) at home for postoperative pain.
NCT01285310
The purpose of this study is to determine whether Apremilast is safe and effective in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, specifically in improving signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (tender and swollen joints, pain, physical function and structure) in treated patients who have had an inadequate response to Methotrexate.
NCT03907436
The purpose of this study is to determine whether MPN patient are able to adhere to a dietary intervention. Participants will be randomized to one of two healthy diets. Participants will receive in person dietician counseling and online curriculum. Adherence will be measured using online surveys and phone diet recalls. Changes in inflammatory markers in blood will also be measured at 5 time points during this 15 week study.

NCT00904579
Background: * Solid organ transplantation provides life-saving treatment for end-stage organ disease but is associated with an increased cancer risk because of the need for long-term immunosuppression * End-stage renal disease (ESRD), the most common type of end-stage organ disease leading to transplant, is itself linked to increased risk for some cancers * The role of immunosuppression and other factors causing cancer in this setting are not fully understood. Objectives: * To characterize cancer risk in transplant recipients and identify risk factors. * To characterize risk for transmission of cancer from organ donors to recipients. * To describe cancer risk in ESRD. Eligibility: Patients are not required for this study. Data are gathered from existing databases of ESRD patients, organ transplant patients and cancer registries. Design: * Databases of 1) U.S. transplant recipients, donors and wait list candidates and 2) U.S. ESRD patients will be linked to multiple U.S. cancer registries to identify cancers in transplant recipients and ESRD patients. * The spectrum of cancer risk in transplant recipients and ESRD patients will be evaluated in detail. * The cancer risk in transplant recipients will be examined in relation to whether the donors had cancer. * The proposed cancer risk factors (e.g., underlying medical condition, infection with cancer-causing viruses, immunosuppressive medications) documented in transplant and ESRD files will be studied for association with increased risk of particular types of cancer.
NCT00405704
