NCT00690378
The purpose of this study is to determine whether NXL104 plus ceftazidime is effective in the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections as compared to a comparator group.
NCT00666588
This phase II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of bortezomib and to see how well it works when given together with combination chemotherapy in treating younger patients with recurrent, refractory, or secondary acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Bortezomib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as idarubicin, cytarabine, and etoposide, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) together with bortezomib may kill more cancer cells
NCT01202773
The primary purpose of this study is to help answer if LY2127399 is safe and effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in participants with an inadequate response to one or more tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibitors. This study is comprised of 2 periods: Period 1: 24-week blinded treatment Period 2: 48-week post-treatment follow-up
NCT02794857
This study evaluates NP001 in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and evidence of systemic inflammation. Half of participants will receive NP001 and the other half will receive placebo.
NCT02457364
Ventral hernias are among the most common surgical diseases among patients. The natural history of patients with ventral hernias who are managed non-operatively is unknown. The aim of this prospective trial is to document the natural history of patients who are undergoing initially non-operative management. The investigators hypothesize that 1) the risk of emergency ventral hernia repair is low, 2) the risk of elective ventral hernia repair is high, and 3) patients managed non-operatively will develop increasing hernia size and symptom progression. This is a prospective observational study of all patients undergoing non-operative management at LBJ General Hospital. Patients will be consented and then followed for 5 years. Phone interviews will be done with these patients yearly to assess surgical and medical history, information about their hernia, including pain level due to the hernia, as well as function and quality of life.
NCT01076374
The primary purpose of this study is to assess the long term reliability of the Medtronic Adapta®/Sensia™/Versa™ platform of devices. This study is required by FDA as a condition of approval of nEw3 devices. Patients will be followed for 5 years after implant. This study utilizes data collected from the System Longevity Study (SLS).
NCT00789958
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as capecitabine and gemcitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) together with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving capecitabine together with gemcitabine followed by capecitabine and radiation therapy works in treating patients with cholangiocarcinoma of the gallbladder or bile duct.
NCT01440998
This pilot phase I trial studies how well dasatinib works together with paclitaxel and carboplatin in treating patients with stage III, stage IV, or endometrial cancer that has come back after a period of improvement. Dasatinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving dasatinib together with paclitaxel and carboplatin may kill more tumor cells.
NCT03241784
This is an open-label pilot study to determine the safety and tolerability of infusions of autologous CD4+ CD25+ regulatory T cells with concomitant subcutaneous IL-2 injections in 4 subjects with ALS.
NCT00003456
RATIONALE: Current therapies for Glioblastoma Multiforme provide very limited benefit to the patient. The anti-cancer properties of Antineoplaston therapy suggest that it may prove beneficial in the treatment of brain tumors. PURPOSE: This study is being performed to determine the effects (good and bad) that Antineoplaston therapy has on adults (≥ 18 years of age) with newly diagnosed Glioblastoma Multiforme.
NCT01278316
This study is being conducted to understand whether training in tasks that require perceiving and thinking about things, or cognition, can improve memory in veterans who have been exposed to a blast explosion and have TBI and PTSD. A primary goal of the study is to determine whether it is feasible for veterans who don't live close to a VA to perform this cognitive training at home.
NCT01202760
The primary purpose of this study is to help answer if LY2127399 is safe and effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with or without background disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) therapy. This study is comprised of 2 periods: Period 1 - 24-week blinded treatment Period 2 - 48-week post-treatment follow-up
NCT01252628
The purpose of this Phase 1/2 open-label study is to determine the safety and efficacy of a cetuximab and PX-866 combination treatment. In the Phase 1 part of the study, the dose of PX-866 to be given in combination with cetuximab will be determined in patients with incurable metastatic CRC or incurable progressive, recurrent or metastatic SCCHN. The Phase 2 part of the study is a randomized evaluation of the antitumor activity and safety of PX-866 in combination with cetuximab versus cetuximab alone in patients with either incurable metastatic CRC who have a history of progression or recurrence following prior irinotecan and oxaliplatin containing regimens or are intolerant of irinotecan (Group 1) or incurable progressive, recurrent or metastatic SCCHN (Group 2).
NCT01537393
The purpose of this study is to determine if the 3-year graft failure rate following endothelial keratoplasty performed with donor corneas with a preservation time of 8 to 14 days is non-inferior to the failure rate when donor corneas with a preservation time of 7 or fewer days are used.
NCT01926899
The objective of this study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of bortezomib in combination with calcineurin inhibitor and methotrexate as acute graft versus host disease (aGVHD) prophylaxis in pediatric patients undergoing allogeniec hematopoietic stem cell transplant (alloHSCT)
NCT01090492
The investigators propose that once daily administration of PF-00489791, a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, will reduce vasospasm and improve symptoms and signs associated with Primary and Secondary Raynaud's Phenomenon.
NCT00231478
This 2 arm study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of a single intravenous injection of Kytril in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in children. Patients will be randomized to receive a single dose of either 20 micrograms or 40 micrograms Kytril intravenously (iv) 15 minutes prior to the end of surgery with general anesthesia for tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy. The anticipated time on study treatment is \<3 months, and the planned sample size was 170 patients.
NCT03011554
VisionCare's Implantable Miniature Telescope (IMT, intraocular telescope or telescope) is indicated for monocular implantation to improve vision in eyes of patients at least 65 years of age with severe to profound vision impairment caused by bilateral central scotomas associated with end-stage age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Patients with end-stage AMD who have undergone bilateral cataract removal and intraocular lens placement are currently contraindicated for telescope surgery. These patients have no viable therapy available to improve their vision. The objective of the TES pilot study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of implanting the intraocular telescope for improving vision in patients with bilateral end-stage age- related macular degeneration who are pseudophakic.
NCT02013258
Individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) have been found to have a deficit of oxytocin-producing neurons and decreased oxytocin receptor gene function, so the purpose of this study is to determine if oxytocin (OT) administration will improve some of the aspects of Prader-Willi syndrome that are particularly troublesome for children and their families (the insatiable appetite and social behaviors). The research questions are: 1. Does intranasal oxytocin cause any side effects in children with PWS? 2. Does intranasal oxytocin administration alter appetite or behaviors in PWS?
NCT02053168
Collect data on safety, performance, and effectiveness of Phasix Mesh in subject requiring primary ventral and incisional hernias.
